“You what?” Grayson’s voice rose three octaves as he spoke to Police Chief Cruz Fletcher on the phone.
“We had to release Marcus Pierce,” Chief Fletcher repeated. “Come to find out, the gun wasn’t used in either murders and it’s registered to him. In fact, he just bought it a few weeks ago.”
Grayson shook his head. This could not be happening. “What about him pulling a gun on me and his traitorous remarks?”
Police Chief Fletcher sighed. “It’s your word against his.”
“Well, given our track records, my word should have much more merit.” Grayson was livid. “In fact, he knowingly endangered a member of the Royal Family.”
Fletcher sighed. “We didn’t have enough to hold him.”
“Then I’ll see him in court,” Grayson spat, now pacing the floor. “I will not sit around waiting for him to kill a member of my family, because that’s where it’s headed.”
“Don’t say that,” Fletcher replied.
