Pseudo-daylight streamed through the windows. Alex covered her eyes and rolled over onto something fluffy, hard, and soft all at the same time. It groaned.

Jack's arm came around and wrapped her body close to him. She uncovered her eyes and stared right down into his ice blue ones. Her hands pushed the bushy hair away from his face.

A tear ran down her cheek and Jack took his free hand out and caught it. "What's wrong?"

Alex shook her head. "It doesn't matter. There's nothing that can be done about the past. We just need to figure out what to do now."

Jack nodded. He lifted his chin and kissed her on the nose. "You're the boss." His smile warmed her heart.

She laced her fingers around the back of his neck and kissed him deeply. He kissed her back, softly at first and then growing stronger.

She pulled back. "Where's your Vice?"
