"It's a long story are you sure you have the time?" asked Manitou half not really wanting to talk about it and half not wanting to get Kat in trouble for her keeping him too long before taking a bite of her own food.

"Yes, but only if you really wish to tell it." replied Kat as he paused in his eating to reach across the table and take one of her paws into his hand.

"Well, as you most likely know it goes way back to a time before these parts were ever settled by mortals." started Manitou poking at her food. "It was a time of blood and chaos as all supernatural beings as well as the immortals." 

"I was one of the few who tried hard to stay out of the conflict yet as fate often does my family got pulled into the heat of things." continued Manitou only as soon as Kat had placed a hand on her paw looking in the eyes and smiling at her. "You see my mate and the father of my cubs, was returning from a trip when ambushed by a group of werewolves."
