Well it was a little embarrassing for him because he was making rounds while his hands were straight up in the air. This was our punishment for being late to report. I could see how his mates were hiding back their laughs while still on their positions and Sid's face all red with embarrassment and heat.
"Why are we waiting here? " I asked Mon. She was more interested in these things. Mon was now all immersed in the scene as she put her face just in between a fence hole.
"Just a second. Moments like this should not be missed. " She said.
"What do you mean? Why are you so interested? Don't tell me you like him? Gosh. "
"Not him but the rest. We don't see boys in our blocks, so this is the perfect chance.. "
"I am leaving! " I could not even take a step when Mon pulled me back.
So literally we stayed there for a little and then finally were able to leave when Sides came up running to say hi.
"Hey! " I greeted.
"I thought you would not remember me" Sid said, looking at me. He grabs a random water bottle from the bench just beside us and pours it all over his head and neck.
"Well I tossed your friend. " I replied.
"Oh yeah. " He says rubbing the water off his wet hair.
"Yeah."
"Where is that guy by the way? He didn't make rounds with you? " Mon asks with a mocking smile.
"Eh.. You were missing me? " Jin came up running and took a seat on the bench. He looked much less sweaty than Sid. Well Sid was all soaked.
"Why would I miss you? " Mon stated.
After a few minutes we left the ground. Mon talking about how Jin was mocking her and that it's very wrong, he is not a good person, I should not talk to him etc.
The training lasted for more than three months and we got close enough in much less time. Mon started to have some positive opinions about these guys too which was a good thing because they were not that bad either.
I would not say that I had such opinions for them since the very beginning. It was quite similar to those of Mon but sometimes some moments make you change your mindset. Whenever they saw me or both me and Mon they didn't hesitate to say a hi. Especially, Sid who would always show up with that bright grin on his face.
We used to stay in a hostel where the whole block was just for girls. Hence we didn't really meet often. We only saw them while making morning rounds or maybe if we were in the field.
It was during one of the trainings where we had to go together and even shared the same bus.
We hopped into the bus but unfortunately there's no seat for me except for the one just beside Sid. Why did he even sit alone? Well maybe, that seat was destined for me.
Anyways I took a seat just beside him. Sid greeted me with a smile and I could do nothing but smile back at him.It seems like I was intrigued by that smile.Mon just adjusted somewhere near the driver's cabin. I could even see her chatting with the driver.
"I never saw you in the uniform? " Sid grabbed my attention back to him.
"Oh yeah. Is it weird? " I asked, as I could feel my ears going slightly hot. I don't even know why I was nervous.
"No it's good. It's… ahh… it's looking great" He stuttered.
Seems like he felt a little awkward too. This is not the first time we are talking and even so it felt something different… a little new.
"Huh… it is just a uniform! " I chuckled.
"Yeah. What about me? " He said stretching his arms wide but only within the space as he turned towards me.
Damn!He was weird.
"Umm.. Not bad. " I said with a smile.
We reached the location soon. We had been trained how to use a gun and how to dismantle it. That's exactly we were doing today but in front of the higher officials. It looks easy because we just need to open up the gun but it was not easy at all. We had a minimum time limit and our aim was to finish it within that time. The earlier the better.
I was still not good with guns and stuff so obviously I was a bit nervous.
The gun test went well and we moved to the shooting section.I still remember what Sid said when I was panicking and the gun felt much heavier then ever.
He shouted "you have been waiting for this day, weren't you? "
Being a capable officer, a good fighter and a shooter was always my dream. I have fought with the world that told me to stop seeing such dreams and now I can't just let it go this easily. Sid was right, I have been waiting for this.
I grasped the gun with both my hands and pulled the trigger as I aimed to the center of the board. Not to mention, I closed my eyes as soon as the gun went off but then when Mon cheered from the back I realized it was a success.
I stood there for a while. I couldn't stop but look at Sid. Though he was a little straight forward he had a sweet side too.
I didn't need to search for a seat when we were back to the bus because I was automatically tempted to sit with him.
