章節 33: But who?
Sam panicked the moment she heard his faint voice.
"What's wrong with your voice? "
"Just…. I am not feeling okay, I guess" He sighed.
"Huh?hello!… Hello Jake? "He was no more audible.
Jake had already passed out by that time but his call was not disconnected yet.
Sam rushed straight to her car. It was already 1 AM and he has never called her like this before.
Sam, Sid and Mon broke into the house after some time. Sam was not sure if she should have called Sid but Mon suggested bringing him as well.
Jake was lying on the floor along with his cellphone. They pulled him up and laid him down on his couch. Sam sprinkled some water on his face to wake him up.
They thought of taking him to the doctor but he was soon awake .However he was still a little dizzy.
"What happened to you? "Sid asked.
"Someone attacked me! "
Sam noticed the scratch marks on his wrist and immediately rushed for the first aid box. Even if it was just scratches,they still left the redness in his hands.
"Did you see his face?" Sid asked as he sat right beside him, examining the room.
"No… he was all covered. In black." He sighed.
"I am so sorry to call you all at this time. " He continues "but I think he was here to kill me or maybe take something! "
"Hey it's fine. " Mon says with a small smile on his face.
Sam brings the first aid kit and helps him clean the cuts.
"Are you hurt somewhere else? " She asked, still concentrating on his hands.
"Nope" He answers.
"Well, did you attack him back….like slaps and all! " Sid asks.
"Oh yeah. I didn't slap him but punched him I guess. Actually, I was a little dizzy. "
Sid gave him a stunned look.
"Dizzy? " Mon asks, coaking an eyebrow at him.
"Exactly, I don't know. I just ate my food and felt sleepy so I jumped straight to my bed. Yes, Sam called me before that. I was fine then. Just after I went to sleep something happened. "
"Hey did you cook your food or? "
"I ordered it"
"That's what it is. "
"I think we should check your bedroom first. We may get something. "
Sam suggested.
The room was not that big but had enough space for the required things to fit in. However the window was open. The stranger was able to come in because of that.
"Oh… you left the windows open? " Sam asked as she went to shut down the windows.
"No… he broke the hooks"
"I see" She grinned.
"Look! "
Everyone turned to face Mon who was holding a knife. It fell down while Jake was trying to catch that person.
"But it's so random, isn't it? Why does anyone wants to hurt you? " Sid says.
"I don't know"
Next Day, Criminal Investigation Department;
"We found this" Mon holds up the packet with the sharp knife in it.
"Why would someone do that? Is this related to the…."Dayal furrowed his eyebrows.
" The politician! "Jake assumed.
" Anyways, did you see the doctor? You said you were feeling dizzy. "
"Oh not yet" He said rubbing the back of his neck.
"Then,what are you waiting for?Just go! "
"Sure"
"I will join you" Sid says, putting his arm around Jake, who immediately refuses it.
As they were leaving the room, Loy came in with a strange look on his face.
"Oh Jake….you are, okay?"
"Aah yeah." He chuckled.
"You gotta be careful. "He said patting on his shoulder.
Sid and Jake did not have to wait for long in the road as there was just little or no traffic. Not to mention that the clinic was not that far away.
" You said you had something last night? "The doctor said.
" Yes. I ordered my food because I was too lazy to cook"
"I think you had something wrong, Mr Oberoi! " She said looking at the reports.
"What? "He uttered,curiously.
"A drug. That's why you felt dizzy. If I'm not wrong you had difficulty breathing too? "
"Yes, but I was fine later. It can't be a drug! "
"Well it is. It's just that, the drug has its effect only for some time. Like around, thirty minutes or so. "She says, sliding the file towards Jake.
"So… it means that was all planned Jake" Sid said.
They stared at each other for a while and Sid signaled him to come outside.
"Thank you doctor. "He stands up to leave.
" Well, before you leave don't forget to buy these medicines "she hands him the prescription.
Jake could not believe that a delivery boy could do something like this. He has been taking food from that restaurant for a long time now but this time it must be something else.
They decided to meet the owner of that restaurant on their way back to the office.
A Few Minutes Later;
"Yes.We sent the order. Was there something wrong? " The owner said.
"No but can we meet the boy whom you asked to send the food? " Jake asks.
"Umm….sure.Give me a minute, I will call right away" He says, as he disappears into the crowded restaurant.
A boy appears in his orange coloured uniform with a small cap hiding his face. He came into visibility once he was almost near to Jake and Sid.
"Sir… you asked for me? "He says, looking straight into their eyes.He had a fresh face and was probably in his twenties.The boy was not as much tall as Jake but was of average height.
" Yes. Did you send a delivery to House No. 066,Dang street yesterday? "Jake asks.
" Oh yeah.. But.. "He looked down.
" But? "Sid asked.
"I met someone at the gate and he asked me to give him the food. He paid me the money and went inside. He must be the one who ordered"he says.
"No… he's not" Jake says, while he raised an eyebrow at Sid. This was definitely someone's plan to harm him. But who?
