章節 34: Chapter 31
Sky was surprised to find Sierra standing at the door that lead to his apartment. He did not remember inviting her here today after all the boys were going to come over to watch the match today.
It was Barcelona versus Real Madrid today and most of them loved Barcelona. He was quite looking forward to having their company today.
Sierra on the other hand had still not noticed Sky. She was busy pulling at the skirt of her dress. She was not looking forward to the news she had to deliver today.
"What are you doing here?"
Sierra finally looked up at Sky. Her palms were sweaty and she looked nervous.
"That's a lot of beer. You have company today?" Sierra asked.
"Yes, the boys are coming over for the match. So, why are you here?"
Sky opened the door and let her in. He placed the beer in the fridge and came back to facing Sierra.
"We have to talk."
"I am listening."
She wiped the palm of her hand against the rough material of her skirt, steeled herself before drawing up the courage to tell him.
"You know how I have been moody lately?"
"Yes i have noticed. It was something I was hoping to discuss with you soon."
"Right. So, well I was late and because of all our activities I got myself tested and I came out to be positive."
"For?"
"You know..."
"Well I don’t. I cannot for the life of me understand what you are getting at and frankly I want you to hurry up, my friends will be here soon and I don’t want you here when they do."
"I am pregnant"
"You're what now?"
Sierra repeated the sentence only slower this time for Sky to be able to process it.
"I. Am. Pregnant."
Sky did not say anything. He just stood there. If Sierra had not seen the twitching of his jaw then she would have thought he had not heard her. She could sense his anger coming out in waves. The heat palpable in the air. And yet his entire demeanor was calm.
He reached for his wallet and placed a few bills on the counter before saying, "That's about a thousand dollars. Go buy yourself a decent ring. I will not have people thinking I saved money on that. We will have the wedding after our child is born. I don’t want to risk the child's safety for the wedding. Alright then, with that out of the way my friends are going to be here soon. Please leave."
It was Sierra's turn to be shocked now.
"I was not.."
"Asking for me to get married to you? Yeah right! You wanted this and now you have it. No child of mine is going to be a bastard. Or aborted. But then women already know how men feel about their children. That's how you trap us into marrying you. If you expected a romantic proposal I am sorry to disappoint you sweetheart. After all I am not in love with you. I am marrying you because you are going to have my child. This is not a novel where I will suddenly realize I am in love with you just because I knocked you up. We will discuss the terms of our marriage tomorrow and have it written down on paper by the end of the week."
Sierra nodded and left. She was still processing everything Sky had said. She had not expected this. A tantrum yes but not this. Sky was angry but he was behaving calmly. She was going to be married.
She could not believe and to Sky Noah Arizona. Never in her wildest dreams had she imaged that she would get this lucky.
She knew he did not love her right now. But with time that would change after all love was just history together and with a marriage and a child they would have a lot of shared history.
