1 PM, Raccoon City.
Hydra's undercover soldiers weaved their ways through the horde of zombies, trying to evade being ambushed by them before even reaching the Police Station. With the Winter Soldier leading their way, it would take no longer than an hour to arrive there, but attacking under bright daylight would be very risky. They had to stay in hiding until the night curtain fell upon the earth.
However, they were not the only one that knew about the existence of the virus's sample. The Hand's leftover force, which had lost its leader during the previous war at the hand of an unknown man, knew it as well. But, their number, which was around 100 men, depleted so much that the second in command was executed for his foolish decision in pushing through the danger only for a mere achievement. And now, the third in command took his mantle to lead the 30 men force to Raccoon Police Department's building tonight.
The first order that the new leader made after his crowning was to get help from the Hotel's mercenary and assassin using the authority of the High Table. They couldn't refuse it and were forced to move along with the Hand's small forces.
That was why John Wick and old man Bill were now standing side by side on top of a building, observing the path they would take. With a binocular on hand, looking at the faraway RPD's Police Station, Bill asked, "What do you think that bunch of rowdy men need the pendant for?"
John answered, calmly, "It's not them who's in dire need of it, but the one who gave them orders."
"Everyone knows it, but why?" muttered, Bill. While they received the order to work together, they still didn't know the truth of the pendant and its real content.
"It might be wiser to not delve further into it, Bill. Not knowing their purpose might save our asses a lot," answered John.
"Yeah, I just feel bad to attack an innocent girl," said Bill.
"Just because the mission is to take the pendant from a girl, doesn't mean the work easier," commented John.
"Why? Is this girl that strong?" asked Bill. Now he seemed to be curious about the identity of that girl, who made even the John Wick wary.
"The girl was not the one we'll need to worry about, but those around her." warned, John. Hearing the answer, Bill put down the binocular and glanced at John. Without waiting for Bill's response, John continued, "How many mercenaries that took this mission?"
Bill scratched his messy beard and answered, "Excluding you, me, and those that currently outside of the city, there are five people that accepted it. Sammy and Dean, the obnoxious couple. The Mexican musicians, El Mariachi, and his wife. And the out of place cowboy, Jack Daniels. Ahh, saying his name made me wanted to drink some whisky."
"I thought there are seven mercenaries currently in town," said John.
"The two got turned two days ago. Not from an attack, but just turned inside their room, "answered Bill, giving an awful look. It was really unfortunate. If only the one that found them was not a hotel guard, who knows how many casualties would be brought to the Hotel. He then proceeded to take out a map of Raccoon City and a red marker.
"My condolences," said John.
"No need. In our world, Death is always nearby, we just don't know when we will pay her a tribute." After marking the map with a few lines. He continued, "Everything's done. Let's get back and—"
Booomm!!
However, before Bill could finish his word, an explosion erupted at the west side of Raccoon City. It was big enough to make the earth trembling. It also caused a few chain explosions worsening the damage even more.
"What's that!?" exclaimed, Bill.
"I don't know." Somehow, John felt a gut-wrenching feeling inside him. He had a bad premonition as he clenched his fist, praying whatever he was feeling right now was just a coincidence.
======
Night soon fell, blanketing the earth with the stars and the moon. The howling of the undead and the cawing of the crow were the only thing that made the night seems ironically lively. If Edward saw the green bar of Raccoon City again, he would have seen the number 40% written on it.
Inside the barricaded Police Station, Nick Fury was sitting alone inside S.T.A.R.S.'s office, tampering with the communication device in his hand and sending the same message over and over again. However, the reply he was waiting for never came. The door soon opened, and a man came in.
"Still no answer?" asked Chris. No one except the two of them and Jill Valentine knew that Edward was missing, and the cause of it was the explosion that happened six hours ago.
"No. I don't even know if Edward is still alive. No one would survive from that kind of explosion." said Nick.
"Don't worry, Edward said he has a super-regenerative power, he must be fine. Wrecked, but fine," muttered Chris. Chris wasn't saying it to Nick, but toward himself.
"Nothing could bring anyone back to life from death, not even a regenerative power, even if you put the word 'Super' in it." denied, Nick.
Their talk was then interrupted by another voice behind the door. "Stop being so negative, we don't even know what happened after that explosion."
Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow walked toward them. Behind her, a small figure was trying to hide his presence, but Nick and Chris already saw him. Both of them made an inquiring glance toward Natasha to explain his identity.
"Ahh... He has been eavesdropping on your conversation right from the start. You should have put a little more effort if you want to keep things stay a secret." explained Natasha. The identity of that kid was Michael, Edward's classmate. Natasha noticed that the kid has been roaming the building a lot, finding things that were not meant to be found. Even she herself was amazed by the kid's curious nature.
Chris could see that Michael had a question that he wanted to ask, but he was hesitating. "Do have something in mind?"
Michael was flustered after his very thought was read, "That is... uh... do you—"
However, even before he could ask, the building shook after an explosion. The light flickered and they fell on their knees.
"What the hell was that!?" exclaimed Nick.
The door was slammed open by a police officer, Leon S. Kennedy as he shouted, "We're under attack! The gate has been breached, a horde of zombies are trying to make their ways inside the building!"
Chris and Natasha ran outside to handle the situation. Nick started to make orders using the communication device, alerting every SHIELD agent that was currently on standby. Michael was left alone in the empty office.
In the front lobby of the Police Station, the policemen and the civilians worked together to barricade the doors and windows. Chris asked one of them about the previous explosion. The answer left him speechless, a group of people, wearing SWAT armors, bombarded the gate with grenade launchers and makeshift bombs stripping the whole wall and the main gate. The loud noise caused the zombies to move toward the now exposed building.
However, the barricaded doors and walls wouldn't be enough to contain the massive horde of the undead. It was slowly crumbling from the outside, as they keep pushing it apart.
"Hold your guns, take out any sharp object you could find, and use it to kill all of them!" shouted Chris. He also didn't forget to tell them to aim for the head, as it was their weakness. Holding for another hour might seem possible but after that... As the bad thought accumulating inside his mind, Nick ordered for the civilians evacuated. Prolonging their stay inside this building would only invite tragedy.
Suddenly, before they could start moving, the front door was blasted by another explosion, taking the newly-made barricades apart in a single moment. Those who stood nearby were blown away, some even died from the impact and shrapnel. One by one, the dead started walking through the wall of fire, craving for the flesh of the living. Everything was turning toward the worst.
"Shit! Fire!" Chris shouted, leading those around him to start firing toward the incoming horde of undead. The police officers formed a line of defense in the front lobby, but the number of firearms and ammo they had wouldn't be enough. It was a matter of time until they would fall.
"Ahhh... This is annoying." Chris heard someone muttering beside him, but when he looked around, no one was there. Chris then realized that after the first wave of zombies, nothing appeared from the wall of fire anymore. Everyone looked around, confused by the meaning of it.
"BELTWAY! You should have taken only the zombies! Not the front door as well!" said a man in hooded armor, apparating from nothingness. The police officers that were close to him were startled, including Chris. That was the voice he heard earlier.
"Hey! I did my best, VECTOR." Retorted BELTWAY while gunning the scattering zombies with his shotgun as he continued, "How could I know the trajectory would move sideways?"
It was the Wolfpack, Umbrella's Delta Team squad. After suddenly receiving an order from the missing HUNK, they moved toward RPD's Police Department. Once they arrived, they saw the gate was blasted by a group of armed men. If it was the usual them, they would have ignored it and move on. However, HUNK's words prevent them from doing so.
"Shut up, the two of you! Just do your task and stop complaining," said LUPO, restraining them before they created any useless quarrel. She then speaks toward the intercom, "SPECTRE, have you found that SWAT group?"
"Not yet. After blasting the gate, they went missing as if their mission was already complete," answered SPECTRE. Sounds of a gunshot could be heard as well as he replied. It seemed he also got some trouble on that side.
"You keep tracking them, get FOUREYES to help you. HUNK said they had the secret files of Umbrella. No matter what, we need to kill them all." ordered, LUPO.
Now the four of them was left defending the Police Station's front side to bait those group so thay they would come back. Whatever they aimed for, it has something to do with the Police Station.
Meanwhile, in another place inside RPD's Police Station, on the second floor's lobby, Claire and Sherry were being confronted by a metal armed man. Claire held her gun in front of her to stop the man from approaching. Several police officers were laid unconscious on the ground after they tried to protect the two from the Winter Soldier.
Bang!
She shot near his feet and warned him, "Any more than that and I will put a bullet inside your damn head!"
However, the Winter Soldier ignored her and started walking. Left with no choice, Claire shot at his exposed shoulder, but the metal arm moved in a flash to catch the bullet. Although startled, Claire keeps gunning on him, but every shot was either missed or caught. Not even a scratch was left on his body.
"Sherry! Run!" Claire knew that his target was Sherry. She didn't know what he wanted from a little girl, but she knew that she must protect her no matter what.
Sherry hesitated a little bit, but she knew she would just become a burden if she stays here. As she ran away, the Winter Soldier started chasing after her, but Claire didn't allow him as she stood in his way with a P90 in hand. She knew she couldn't hold him at all, but she still has to do it. Winter Soldier effortlessly ducked the P90's bullet trajectory and delivered a punch to her stomach.
Claire was put down on her knees as she holds her stomach. Some nasty liquid from lunch a few hours ago was spat up on the floor. As the Winter Soldier walked past her, she holds his foot, holding his advance. However, it just annoyed the Winter Soldier and he raised his leg to stomp on her hands. But then, the window shattered as a man jumped in with two katanas drawn.
He slashed toward the Winter Soldier, but the latter used the titanium arm as a shield to block the swords.
"Just as I arrive, I had to fight again!? I couldn't even deliver a punchline without delivering a punch," muttered Wade Wilson.
Winter Soldier grabbed the two swords' blade with his titanium hand, preventing Wade to use them, but he just released it and pulled out two Desert Eagle and shot.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
As the battle between Wade and the Winter Soldier started, another group of people arrived inside the Police Station's parking lot, led by an old man with a bat and shotgun in hand. It was the Continental's mercenaries. There was no sight of The Hand's group because they were chasing after the SWAT team that bombarded the front gate, believing that they held information about the pendant. To lessen the competition, The Hand's flock chased after them and left the mercenaries with the mission to take the pendant.
"Remember, we're only here to get the pendant," said Bill. But he winked toward the group behind him and continued, "But somehow, we had some problem and was forced to evacuate the civilians as well."
Sammy smirked after knowing the meaning of that wink, also continued with her own version of the events, "And we formed a pathway for our escape, but it was taken advantage by them instead."
Jack Daniels, the cowboy, also followed up, "without our knowing, the girl sneaked past us and joined them, so we missed our chance and had to look again."
They made more versions of the stories with everyone taking part in developing it. The story grew even bizarre as it included U.F.O. sighting in it. Although they accepted the mission, they were reluctant to finish it. Not because they have some humane reason as to not attack underage girls, but because they hated the action of their client that forced the mission on them when they were busy keeping themselves alive in this hell on earth.
On the rooftop of a certain building, a lone man was observing the ensuing event with a binocular. He didn't move even a step further from his place as he switched the direction of the binocular.
"They finally arrived," muttered John Wick as he donned the mask of the soldier, HUNK.
In his vision, five T-00 Tyrants arrived from every direction of the Raccoon Police Department's building. No one knew what they were after, except for one single woman that has been observing the city since day one of the infection, Alex Wesker.
Inside a safe place, at Chicago, Illinois, she and her subordinates were watching the wall of monitors, recording the sceneries of Raccoon City. She moved her head toward a microphone, connected to the control device for the Tyrants.
She then spoke, "Wreck the whole place. Let no single soul alive to tell the tale."
