章節 57: Nemesis's Obsession

Bam!

Nemesis's hand smashed the asphalt where I stood on earlier. The light on my gauntlet was warning me of his presence, and when I expand my senses, I knew he was right behind me. It was Nemesis again. Although I already faced the two versions of him, they were only some lower counterparts of him. From how bright the light from my gauntlet was shining, I already aware of how different he will be this time.

"Shit! If I knew Umbrella would make another one, I would've trashed the facility a little bit more."

His whole fist dug a hole on the ground. There was not much of a difference between him and the one I saw on the game, although my knowledge was only limited to the original version. The protruding tentacles and the trenchcoat still looked the same, except that this Nemesis's upper body was wrapped in black bandages up to his head, leaving only one eye open.

[Be careful, Sir. His creator already refined his Genma lineage. He's not just a simple monster anymore.] warned Regina.

"I know..." From the moment I saw the two mutated Nemesis in Paris, I already expected to face one of these things.

While Nemesis was standing still, I opened my character status at the corner of my vision.

My Mental Point was already in minus 20 and I already had a slight headache when I used my ability. Nemesis dashes toward me, I was caught off guard by how fast he moves. I crossed both of my arms and blocked the punch he delivered. His power pushed me for 5 meters and my feet dug two lines on the asphalt.

I felt a slight numbness on my arms but I didn't have any time to lament on it as Nemesis keep himself close to me. We trade punches and kicks several times but he kept overpowering me every single time.

'This won't work.' I thought.

"Piston Punch!"

My left fist dig into his stomach and he staggered, I leap back around 10 meters and caught my breath. Sweat covered my body. It was just 15 seconds since the start of the fight, but I was already tired. I wanted to use my guns, but I already spent all of my bullets. I should have bought more from the Continentals if I knew Nemesis was coming today. He recovered himself and dashes to me once again.

"Shit! If this what you want, then let's fight to our death!"

A light shone and Blackbeard appeared in my right hand. This shotgun only used mental power as its bullet, but its firepower was far stronger than any weapon I had in my inventory. Suddenly, two arrows flew from behind me and pierced Nemesis's head and chest.

Boom! Boom!

"What!?"

The two arrows exploded and staggered Nemesis as he crouched in pain. My mouth crept into a smile as I look behind me and saw the one who shot them.

"Don't tell me you're having this much fun when we did all the paper works," said Hawkeye while reloading another arrow on his bow.

"It's okay, Clint. Look at how much works he also has done," said Black Widow, pointing at the headless zombies on the ground. The whole area was littered with corpses. Some places were also was burning with wrecked cars that I used to blast some of them.

"You guys are really late," I complained.

The staggered Nemesis already recovered and roared in anger because he was interrupted.

"Be careful, he's too strong, every single attack of his could bend a steel," I said, warning the two.

"It's okay, we have some unexpected back-up when we were on our way," said Black Widow. A man then shows up behind them carrying a whole bag of weapons and ammo. "His name is Leon. That's all for the introduction."

I looked into the bag and I keep looking between Leon and the weapons inside. Where the hell he got these from? Is he going to wreck the whole city with it?

I moved them into my inventory and three of them were startled once they saw the bag vanishing into thin air, especially Leon who met me for the first time.

"I'll do the tanking, you guys can focus on damaging him from long range," I said while summoning two Katanas from my inventory and chugging two MP Potions. I only have 18 Potion left in my inventory, I didn't consume it earlier because there was no point in fighting Nemesis if there's no chance to beat him. But now, that chance appeared with the arrival of my two partners and our protagonist.

Clint couldn't be doubted of his capability in long-range battle. Natasha also had much better skill in using firearms than me right now, and she also had multiple hidden gadgets that I trust would be useful in this battle. While Leon might be the most normal one than this, I trusted he could do more than anyone ever thought.

The battle began with me charging at the forefront. I already learned how to use swords from John Wick, so it wouldn't be a problem for me. Nemesis might be faster and stronger, but he couldn't do much against the four of us.

I keep carving wounds upon wounds on his body, but I couldn't cut off a single part of his body, not even a finger. Arrows keep flying near my shoulder and head. Hawkeye used my body as a blind spot so that Nemesis couldn't evade it easily.

As he sent a punch to my body, I slid under him, causing Nemesis to smash the concrete asphalt instead. Natasha fired several electric projectiles from her bracelet, paralyzing Nemesis in his place. I slashed his back, forming an X mark while Leon keeps shooting Nemesis's head using a handgun, a JMB Hp3. He thought Nemesis's weakness was the same as any other zombies, but it was wrong. Nemesis's weakness was hidden deep inside his body. The parasite was so well protected that it was impossible to attack it yet.

Natasha keeps switching between her M19 handgun and Black Widow's Bite, the electric projectile shooter. When Nemesis recovered, I used Dark Blast at a close distance, aiming for his chest. I couldn't afford to miss a single shot.

Boom! Boom! Boom! ...

Multiple explosions threw both of us away from each other, while I was safe from its disintegrating effect, nothing could be done with the shockwave. Nemesis also flew away, but the explosions only disintegrate the upper half of the coats and most of his skin. His defense was far stronger than I thought. Now I could see the hidden face properly.

'Ughh... it didn't resemble the one in the original game. What a disappointment.' I thought.

Leon helped me stand up while Clint fired a peculiar arrow that glows with a blue tint. It hit Nemesis's face and froze his whole head and stick it onto the wall behind him, after a small explosion. Its whole purpose was just to buy time.

"We need a new plan. This fight couldn't be continued for long," said Natasha. Nemesis was too strong for now. He might not do much against us, but the same also applied to us. I need to level up a few more times until I could fight him in a proper ground. We also need a proper weapon that could pierce his tough body. Blackbeard might have a strong blasting power, but it didn't have a strong piercing strength. But if I could stack it over and over, we might fend him off.

"Yeah, I thought so, for now, we could only fend him away and looked for something to defeat him." If we could damage him badly, Nemesis would be idle for some time to recuperate. Thankfully, since he transformed into a Genma, his healing factor was nerfed so much. It was proved by how the skin didn't recover until now.

Nemesis smashed the ice away and roared madly. He was so pissed off that the tentacles in his body were wriggling uncontrollably.

"At least, he doesn't have any power except for his raw strength," I muttered.

And that was when his arms shone and two gauntlets appeared, producing two yellow blades. A vertical eye also appeared on his forehead, completing the form that I hated the most. I slapped my mouth while muttering, "Ugghh... Me and my damn mouth. I just have to trigger the flag, don't I?"

"What's happening?" Natasha couldn't comprehend the sudden change in atmosphere after Nemesis formed the light swords.

"Run!!" I shouted as I pushed Leon away. Nemesis speed multiplied, but I could still saw his blurred form. He wasn't as fast as the original owner yet. The light sword carved a straight line between me and Leon. I gripped the two katanas in my hands and swung it toward Nemesis's lowering head.

Clank!!

Both of the katanas were blocked by a single light sword. Nemesis swung it, throwing me away, but I could land on my feet without any problem. Nemesis then followed with another thrusting attack using both of the light swords, but I bent my body forward and slashed his leg. Nemesis didn't even evade it and tried to swing the sword downward, but an arrow pierced his shoulder and exploded. The arrows explosive was a bit special, allowing Clint to make Nemesis tremble in pain. That moment saved me from being cut in half and I rolled sideways.

Nemesis turned around trying to attack Clint, but I shot Blackbeard twice and gain his aggro once again. I keep walking backward while evading multiple slashes that Nemesis sent to me. Leon, Clint, and Natasha were amazed by how nimble my movement was. A minute later, we arrived at a half-finished construction zone. The battlegrounds earlier were too littered with corpses, affecting my movement.

I shot Blackbeard once again, staggering him on his knees. Leon looked around and moved once he found something that caught his eyes while Natasha pulled a Grapple Hook gun and shot it through Nemesis's right arm, and I helped her wrap it tightly, while the other end was attached to a steel beam.

Nemesis couldn't move his right hand and wanted to cut the wire, but Clint keeps firing his arrows to block his movement. I dashed and jumped once I was near Nemesis and sent a Piston Punch to his face. An equipment active skill didn't use mana at all, and its cast time depended on how fast I could word out the name. So I keep using them in between my attacks as an element of surprise.

After I followed with a Hammer Kick, I stabbed the two Katanas in his back, but it only went halfway through. I used Piston Punch twice and they finally went through his chest. However, a tentacle suddenly flailed from his left elbow and wrapped around my neck, immobilizing me. Clint shot an arrow, but the light sword cut it apart, however, the arrow's tip separated from the body and pierced the tentacle, cutting it after the tip suddenly twisted after forming a small blade.

I could finally break free and catches my breath. I was pretty amazed at how fast Clint took control of the situation with his variety of arrows. By the way, how many arrows that quiver hold?

Natasha keeps spamming the electric projectiles, paralyzing him even more, but the effect keeps getting lessened with each shot. Nemesis body was slowly adapting to it. I stood and lightly jumped to send Hammer Kicks to both of the swords, and it drew a long line toward his stomach. Nemesis howled in pain as I pulled both of the swords away. He was at the end of the line. A little bit more. Only a little bit more.

Suddenly I heard a creaking sound. It was like a cable being stretched to its fullest. Nemesis was forcefully pulling the wire that Natasha attached. He gave up using the light sword as Clint keep getting in his way. If he could snap it, Nemesis would be freed and it would be harder to fight him. We need to stop him. We need to use everything we can to hold him down. And then, he got smashed away.

My eyes keep blinking, dumbfounded by the sudden change. Nemesis was smashed by a bunch of steel beams that was swung by a crane machine. Inside, was Leon operating the machine with a smile on his face.

Not only that, the steel beams fell on top of the smashed Nemesis. And then, the wire that attached to Nemesis's arm and the building caused a chain reaction as the whole building collapsed. I grabbed both Clint and Natasha and leaped outside. Dust and smoke flew everywhere as we watched it crumbling.

The battle between The Hand, U.S. Army, and UBCS mercenaries suddenly got interrupted by multiple monsters coming from inside the underground parking lot of the hospital. They came in varied form, one looked like an inflated frog, others looked like a tumor-covered lizard. They were the Hunter-type mutant that Umbrella also developed. Although they were much weaker than the Tyrant-type, they could be mass-produced, unlike the Tyrants that had small success rates.

The three forces were now forced to pause their small war and tried to fend off the newcomers. While The U.S. Army slowly tried to fall back. The Hand couldn't do so, they just lost their leader and the one taking control now tried to gain achievement and ordered them to push it through.

The UBCS also now just turtle themselves inside the Hospital ground, avoiding to meet these monsters.

Inside the facilities, red lights filled the whole corridors and halls. The walls were also painted in red, but it wasn't from the lights, but from the blood that spilled from the terror-filled face of Hunter's victims.

Right now, two men were standing face to face, with their gun pointing at each other's faces. On the ground were countless corpses of the Hunters.

"Who are you working for, Wade?" asked John Wick. Everyone from this circle knew each other, especially those that made a name for themselves. They would meet at least once or two in a mission.

"The same also applied to you, John." smirked, Wade Wilson. "I heard about your reputation. Once, you killed men in a bar fight only using a pencil."

"You didn't answer my question, Wade," said John, while tightening his grip on the handgun.

But, Wade just ignored him and keep talking, "Well, guess what, John. I also did the same, with a pencil! but I didn't sharpen it! Didn't SHARPEN it!!"

John could only sigh in frustration. Nothing was ever good in having business with the man in front of him.
