章節 20: CHAPTER 13 - BATTLE AT THE FALLEN CITY (1)
"They 're still waiting for us outside this fallen city," Kay said. "Thank goodness, we've already prepared for this moment".
Kay looks outside the windows, and a number of Sakura Empire shipgirls can be seen wandering around to search for them. Cruisers, battleships, aircraft carriers and destroyers are in their positions.
Some aircraft are already circling in the sky. The Iroblood fleet can also be seen here at the fallen city as part of their mission together with Sakura Empire. Kay and the others are trapping at the fallen city.
And perhaps not,
"This is working as we've intended so far," Kay said. "Nice job, everyone."
But the girls don't seem to agree fully with Kay. After Kay introduces himself in front of Nagato and the others, he 's going to get out of there as soon as possible. Then he's going to meet the others and go to this fallen city.
"We nearly died, commander," Cleveland said. "We actually got lucky when we managed to run away from them."
"Hey, that's not entirely my fault," Kay said. "If we didn't screw up in the first place, we 're going to get away from it quickly."
After that, the others are looking at Essex, who is still comforted by Shangri-La. Apparently, she's the one who's messing up the plan.
"I am so sorry," Essex said.
Kay relieves a deep sigh, with everyone but Essex, who giggles at Kay. Then, Kay is focusing at Edinburgh and Sheffield.
"Well, I really want to ask you this whole time," Kay said as he pointed to Edinburgh. "Who's that girl on your back, Edinburgh? ".
Kay pointed to the girl behind Edinburgh. A tiny appearance of light green hair, cat ears, and a somewhat scared expression.
"Did you kidnapped her, Edinburgh?", asked Kay. "Please do not tell me she is not a destroyer. I cannot have two Ark Royal species in front of me when I go back to Azur Lane".
"Akashi is not a destroyer. Akashi is a Sakura Empire repair ship". said Akashi while hiding behind Edinburgh.
"........That is not the problem", said Kay. "Well, I already said that you need to steal something from Kaga and Akagi".
"That is not true, master", said Sheffield. "This child suddenly followed us".
"Do not said that! They will cook Akashi if Akashi stays in Sakura Empire", said Akashi.
Edinburgh and Sheffield told what they saw as they completed their task to Kay. They saw a massive ship in the cave at the Sakura Empire. The form of the ship is like a black serpent, and it's really huge compared to the others. However, the ship appears to be malfunctioning and broken.
But it's just the ship they've seen. They were also watching Akagi and Kaga talking to high-class siren.
"You saw a high-class siren?", asked Kay.
"Yes, master. We saw a high-class siren that talked to Kaga and Akagi", said Sheffield. "What is wrong, master?".
"Nothing...Sheffield", said Kay.
The problem is that he is already watching all over the place in the Sakura Empire, including the ship using [Eagle Eyes]. However, he doesn't notice anything that could harm them at that huge ship. That being said, he never noticed any high-class siren that Sheffield was talking about.
Kay's learned of a high-class sirens from Belfast. However since he came here, he's never seen any of them. Usually, Kay's completely messed up with their scheme. So, the sirens presumably came to him to interrupt him or to kill him.
But he never saw or met them. It seems odd for Kay to acknowledge that.
"Okay, I will think of that later," Kay said. "So what the earth are you stealing from Kaga and Akagi.
"We stole two broaches of jade and a wisdom cube," Edinburgh said. "This wisdom cube, however, seems odd."
Edinburgh is pleased to give Kay the wisdom cube, as she is very proud of accomplishing for this mission. Kay took the wisdom cube and remained quiet. And he's currently looking at Edinburgh after staring at the dark wisdom cube.
"Alright, someone needs to tell me. What is wisdom cube because I feel completely foget about it?", asked Kay.

Essex is now with Sharing-La, who is still trying to console her after she messed up with the plan when trying to run away along with the others. She's trying to remember the reason why she's doing that.
"Wow, they 're so mad at us," Kay said. "And they're starting to attack us."
"It isn't funny, commander! ", yelled Essex. "What would Enterprise-Senpai do if she is in my position?"
Kacha.....
"Another nice picture of Essex," said Shangri-La. "So, what are we going to do, Commander? I don't think it's a smart decision to face them right now".
"Just get away from here as soon as you can," Kay said. "We will use our trump card when we meet Formidable, Cleveland and Montpelier."
"Roger that, Commander," Sharing-La and Essex shouted.
Essex and Shangri-La are attempting to avoid attacks against the Sakura Empires. They 're not as fast as Kay, but they're still trying to chase him as hard as they could.
"How fast is he?, even though he's just a human? He doesn't even have a ship, ", Essex said.
"He did not become our commander for nothing, Essex", said Shangri-La. "We should be concentrating on this problem ahead, Essex. So, please focus".
"But..."
Before Essex manages to finish her sentences, a few torpedoes come to her. Since she was totally distracted, she didn't realize it until the last moment. She knows she can't avoid the torpedoes.
Suddenly, someone pushes Essex from behind and attempts to face the torpedoes. It's Kay and he's ready to destroy the torpedoes with his sword. He activates his element and flows it into the sword.
Slash...
He attacks with the sword to destroy all the torpedoes that come towards him. A few seconds later, loud explosions could be heard. The shipgirls of the Sakura Empire are very shocked and confused.
"Be careful, Essex," Kay said. "I don't want Enterprise to be mad at me if anything happens to either of you."
"I 'm sorry, commander," Essex said.
"This might be a problem," Kay said. "They 're still following us, and you're too slow. I'm going to draw their attention while the two of you meet those three".
"I 'm sorry for this, commander", said Shangri-La. "Come on now, Essex. We just create more problems with the commander if we stay here".
They 're already deciding the time for them to split up. They split up after waiting for a perfect moment.
It seems this plan to be succeed completely, as most of the Sakura Empire follows him instead of Essex and Shangri-La . Well, it's not surprising, because he is the main reason for their madness.
"Follow that bastard!!!! "Hyuuga and Ise shouted. "Make sure he knows the wrath of the Sakura Empire."
Most of the shipgirls of the Sakura Empire follow the order and try to pursue Kay while attacking him.
"They 're really mad at me," Kay said, avoiding all the violent attacks. It might be a problem because he can't kill them.
"Well, it's pretty easy for me to avoid these attacks," Kay said. "I hope the girls are ready to launch the attacks anytime soon."
A couple of minutes later, Kay receives a signal from Formidable. They seem to be ready to counter the Sakura Empire.
"Alright, time to bounce from here", said Kay. 'Sorry, girls. I have something to do".
Kay is now trying to get away. It seems, though, that the girls don't want to let it happen. They 're going to be chasing Kay.
Kay and the others are now regrouping. Cleveland, Montpelier, Formidable, Essex, Shangri-La, Sheffield, Edinburgh and a little child are already in their position.
"Wow, commander. I don't know you 're so popular with the Sakura Empire ", Cleveland said.
"They really want to kill you, commander," Montpelier said. "Are we going to attack them now? ".
Kay raises his hand to ask them to hold on to their attacks. He 's going to wait for the perfect timing for this moment. Formidable is the key to this attack.
"Wait ... Now!!! ", ordered Kay. "Do your thing, Formidable! ".
"Finally, it is time for me to shine," Formidable said. "Watch me, commander."
"The Curtains Fall"

Suddenly, all the Sakura Empire shipgirls that came along to pursuit Kay are losing their movements. It is feels that they are losing their speed. All their planes are failing from the sky.
"What happens?", asked Hyuuga.
"I do not know", said Ise. "It is probably that maid fault". She pointed at Formidable.
"Alright, now it is a perfect time for you all to impress me", said Kay. "This is an order. Show me what you can do, Azur Lane!".
"As you wish, commander", shouted all of them.
"There is only going forward!", shouted Cleveland while attacking the planes. Her accuracy is somewhat very fearsome.
"Annoying, disappear!", shouted Montpelier following her sister steps, attacking all the planes in the sky.
"Charge through the typhoon, full steam ahead!", shouted Shangri-La. She is currently deploys plenty of aircraft and targeting all the Sakura Empire shipgirls.
And finally,
"Spread your wings and fly! Target all the Sakura Empire!", shouted Essex.
Formidable can only holds them for ten seconds only. After that, it will returned to their original state. Since, the Sakura Empire shipgirls are only thinking to kill Kay, they probably forget about this kind of possibility that will happened to them.
"Alright, that's enough!", shouted Kay. "Now, let's get out from here before they recovered".
They follow Kay 's orders and get away from there as soon as possible. Until, someone realizes that Essex is not with them anymore.
"Where is Essex, commander?", asked Shangri-La.
"Wait....what!!!", said Kay. "What do you mean?".
Kay looks at the back and saw Essex still remains there. Attacking and destroying the Sakura Empire shipgirls and aircraft that still wandering around. She feels this is a perfect moment for her to show the pride of Eagle Union. She ignoring Kay 's orders to retreat.
"That idiot", said Kay. "Everyone moves as we planned. I will bring Essex with me and take her away". Kay goes to Essex as fast as he could.
"Wait....Commander!!!!"
"Tch...They are too many for me to handle", said Essex. "No. Enterprise can do more better than I do".
"She will destroyed all Sakura Empire shipgirls easily".
"............"
"Essex.....Essex..."
"ESSEX!!!!"
Essex wakes up from her daydreaming, only to realize one airplane bomber is ahead her. Ready to drops its bomb towards Essex.
Just a moment before it reaching Essex, the bomber suddenly destroyed.
"Commander...", said Essex. "Wait...what are you...."
Kay grabs Essex and embraced her. After the bomb has been destroyed, the attack did not ends there. Takao is ready to slash Essex, only to see Kay manages to block it just a mere second.
Klang......
Kay strength is greater than Takao. He easily overcome Takao and counter it when the sword facing each other.
Takao loss her balance and Kay doesn't waste this perfect chance. Unfortunately, his sword stops just a few millimeters from Takao 's neck.
He had a glimpse that prevent him from killing Takao. Yet, he doesn't realizes that Ayanami is behind Takao and ready to slash him.
"I cannot avoid it with Essex still with me", said Kay in his mind. "But, I can still minimize the damage".
Slash...
Ayanami 's sword managed to stab Kay 's shoulder. Ayanami looks at Kay and surprised when seeing his reaction.
"Checkmate", said Kay.
Kay activates his element and paralyzes Takao and Ayanami. It is more than enough for him to get away with Essex.
"Hold tight, Essex", said Kay while embracing Essex which still feels embarrassed. Then, she saw some blood that coming out from his shoulder.
"I am sorry, commander".
"............."

"That is very reckless, Essex", scolded Kay. "I already told you many times about this matter. So, please be careful next time".
"............."
Kay is been treated by Sheffield. She is currently gives him a little bit of first aid to stop the bleeding from his shoulder.
"Aren't that is the same thing you always do, commander", said Cleveland.
"Aniki is right. Belfast and Wales always get mad at you because your reckless action when fighting", said Montpelier which is trying to support his sister.
Kay relieves a deep sigh. He admits something his action can be considered as reckless. Yet, there is clearly difference reason between Kay and Essex.
"I only do because I choose to do, Essex", said Kay. "It is because I capable to do it. And, I also think several possibilities that can affect the results".
"But, you are different. You act because you choose to follow someone".
"Just because that person can do, that doesn't mean you also need to follow her steps".
"Do you understand me, Essex".
"............"
"I understand, commander", said Essex.
"Alright, we need proceed to next plan", said Kay. "Their is a fallen city nearby. We will stay there and wait for them to come".
"Roger that, commander!", shouted all of them.
Shangri-La is trying to comfort Essex who still feeling guilty for what happens to Kay. She feels that she really needs to take the responsibilities. Since, she is the reason for Kay to got stabbed by Ayanami. Although, he managed to minimize the injured. Her minds still feeling depressed.
Kacha....
"Another great picture of Essex", said Shangri-La as she trying to relief the mood. "Don't worry that much, Essex. I think that commander also knew about your personality. You need to repay him by proving yourself for next battle".
"Well, if you say so", said Essex. "Thanks, Shangri-La".
"Your are welcome, my dear Essex", said Shangri-La.

Shoukaku and Zuikaku can be seen as they talk to each other. Shoukaku is concerned that Zuikaku is trying too hard to take part in this mission.
Kaga and Akagi instructed them to reclaim the wisdom cube and jade broaches that Azur Lane stole. The flagship for this operation is Kaga only because Akagi can not participate in this operation. She 's going to need to meet with Nagato after that incident.
Shoukaku is possibly the happiest girl in the Sakura Empire after Kay intrudes her home. Well, considering that Akagi and Kaga had to take responsibility for their failure to report Nagato about the new commander, Shoukaku is right to be happy.
"You want to come over here to find Kay, Zuikaku? ", asked Shoukaku. "Or do you want to prove yourself again".
After hearing that from her sister, Zuikaku feels embarrassed. She also is still carrying Kay 's sword.
"No, it's not like that, Shoukaku-nee," Zuikaku said. "It's just .....that I want to see him again. I mean, I am still holding his sword, and I still need to give it back to him".
Shoukaku is taking Zuikaku 's hands and holding it. Then, with her sweet face, she smiles at her.
"You should be true to yourself, Zuikaku," Shoukaku said. "You 're right to be happy about all of that. I'm not going to ask any questions about your feeling about him".
"If you have a chance , please find him as soon as you can, Zuikaku."
"Then, said anything you want to say at him".
Shoukaku is embracing Zuikaku. She's hugging her close as she doesn't let her go. Zuikaku just let her sister do what she wanted to do.
"But, are we supposed to tell them about our reinforcements? ", asked Zuikaku. "They may be able to handle us, but Kaga-senpai has already sent sirens to support this operation".
"Don't worry, Zuikaku," Shoukaku said. "Shikikan can easily handle all these sirens by himself. You should worry about yourself in order to meet him."
"Shikikan? ... Well, if you say so, Shoukaku-nee," Zuikaku said.
Zuikaku is looking at Rakurai. It seems that the sword still denies her strength. However, it's not as bad when she first attempts to do it. She probably thinks that she needs more time to use this sword. She needs to give this sword back to Kay, though. She thinks she's going to use it much longer than she intended.
This is Kay's first major battle as the Commander of Azur Lane. However, he will not participate in this battle directly.
As their war are not his main problem. His duty is only to guide them and seek them to glory. His power cannot be used easily.
And, this is the Battle at the Fallen City.
