章節 44: Leaving a Bad Impression

Lyssandre is known to be a prestigious individual with a stoic facade.

Lucien resembles him so much that he looks like his older version. But character-wise, they don't mirror each other at all. While the son sports a bright and bubbly personality, the father seems to be the complete opposite.

Going by his stern expression alone, anyone can tell that he's strict and distant. Then again, he is rarely seen smiling even in front of the camera.

"For an owner of a well-known entertainment agency, he sure doesn't look fun," Anastasia mused silently as she continued to struggle not to waver under his intent gaze.

With two buff and burly bodyguards standing on each of his sides from behind, Lyssandre stands tall in front of her, practically towering over her. His lustrous tawny brown hair is neatly combed backward while he's dressed into his signature white suit that makes him appear spruce and debonair.

"Going by your uniform... Are you perhaps, my son's schoolmate?" he chimed in again, finally making her snap out of her stunned state.

"O-Oh, yes, Sir. Nice to meet you. My name is Anastasia, and I'm Lucien's classmate," she greeted with a timid smile.

"Hmmm... I see. So, you're that friend my son keeps talking about..."

Anastasia feels her heart leap a little at this. She doesn't know that Lucien has been talking about her to his father. This might mean that at the very least, he's also thinking about her even when he's not in school.

What's more, he once mentioned to her that he doesn't really tell his father much about his studies and personal affairs since this unfeeling man always reacts indifferent. That's why the thought that he still talked about her despite that makes her feel somewhat special.

"That boy... Why in the world is he goofing around like this and bringing someone from school? Such a waste of time."

At Lyssandre's uncalled-for remark, Anastasia suddenly went stiff in nonplus. His tone came out so frosty that it rivaled his cold expression. It appears like he isn't pleased by the fact that his son is making friends at school.

But then again, Lucien himself doesn't feel comfortable talking about him. He always looks like he keeps receiving negative reactions from him whenever the topic has something to do with what he wants and does.

In all actuality, Lucien was the one who insisted Lyssandre to let him enroll to the academy. He eventually allowed this but with much unwillingness on his part and a set of conditions.

Nevertheless, even when he keeps acting as this jerk of a father, he highly respects and adores him.

"U-Ummm... I'm sorry, Sir. But it's only me who decided to go here today. I didn't mean to bother anyone. I just want to deliver some good news..." Anastasia found the intrepidity to say, thinking that the information she had with her could turn his mood around.

"You see, your son's work has been accepted to a contest that will be held during the science fair next week..."

Feeling quite eager to share the news and very thrilled for Lucien, Anastasia pulled out the entry form from her backpack and handed it over to Lyssandre. She thought that he would react pleasantly surprised if he were to know just how smart and capable his son was.

"Our adviser was even praising his invention, Sir. He has a good shot of winning. If you like, you can drop by and watch the competition-"

"No need. I'm not even planning to let him join. This is all so ludicrous."

Once more, she ends up stiffening.

Lyssandre only looked at the entry form in her hand and didn't even take it. The fact that he's mustering quite an annoyed expression right now tells Anastasia that he's reacting worse than indifferent nor displeased this time.

He's downright miffed.

She then just lowers down her arm as she continues to look at him in confusion and disbelief. This situation is a little mind-boggling. She doesn't get him at all. Any other parent would feel happy if their children was as intelligent as his son.

"Don't bother yourself with what my son does, young lady. Go home now," he continued with a stern tone before eventually walking past through her.

"W-Wait...!" she called out, unable to accept how he just shoved away his son's genuine efforts like this.

"I-I... I want to say that Lucien is very, very smart, Sir. He already became the top of our class in just a-"

"So what? I'm more than aware of that."

"H-Huh? T-Then, you..."

"Perhaps, I wasn't clear with what I just said. I told you to go home now, young lady..."

That's when Lyssandre walks back to her before bending to meet her eye level all of the sudden. Taken aback, she only stays silent and still on her spot. She's no longer sure of what to do or respond at this point.

"Go home and mind your business."

At that very moment, Anastasia could already tell that she left a bad impression on her crush's father even though all she really had with her was nothing but good intentions.
