章節 56: Chapter Fifty-Six: Suddenly this turned into a date 1
Clair had a 'phase' of denial the first 5 minutes.
She locked the bathroom door, looked at the shower, and then at the toilet. There was a bag that held the clothes he had on before he changed. She looked elsewhere and tried to enjoy the place to distract herself.
She would often find herself doing this when she wanted to get something out of her mind, so it didn't really surprise her anymore.
Anyway, it was nice knowing there were extra clothes for her to wear right there.
Sigh!
When the truth kept coming to her mind she just dropped on the bed and felt like screaming in frustration.
It's all going sideways!
He's too beautiful, and now he has taken a place in her heart. It was an uncertain place she herself could not figure out.
It was between 'I like him because he's likable, handsome, and I have to get along with him because we might continue as a married couple till the day we die,' and the other was, 'I like him because he's handsome, likable, fun to tease, dense but cute, I might develop romantic feelings.'
"Gaghhh!"
"How do I solve this problem?"
'Ignoring your problems won't make them go away and neither will it solve them.' That was the first thing that came to her mind. It's what she wanted to do.
"That's some brilliant advice, but this is a unique situation."
She continued to search her memory for any moment of her life when she has had a crush or any romance-related experience.
She went stiff, she was like a rock just laying on the bed as realization dawned on her.
She had never liked anyone romanticly before!
"Darn it!"
After that, a long 'session' of muffled screams filled the room.
When she remembered this morning, she clenched her jaw in determination.
And the 'session' stopped. She realized that a feeling like this was normal in a woman's life and she could not avoid it. Fortunately, she knew feelings like this don't last forever and are called 'crushes' for a reason.
Phew!
"I feel like a love expert now!" She got up and stretched her arms. She had now accepted that this was a temporary crush and it would be gone before she even realized it.
She was also pretty confident in her 'knowledge' in love at this point.
Now, that she calm and composed, she got dressed in some plain clothing. She would not allow that handsome face to charm her and distract her.
After putting her hair up in a ponytail, she put on a black cap and added a black mask.
She walked out of the room and picked up her things.
"Let's head out." She gave him a full charming smile.
Yes, her mood had been lifted!
She was feeling much better after letting it all out, by screaming and rolling herself up in a burrito.
Clair might insist that she's no normal persona and that's true. It's just that at moments like this she tends to not realize how human she is. Maybe she was yet to forgive herself for her dark past and so she convinced herself that she will never be capable of experiencing things other normal humans do.
But no, she was very wrong. She was more human than anyone could be. The hardships she has been through are evidence of that. She went through despair, regret, failure, pain, and many other emotions.
And maybe love might become the next on that list...

James raised an eyebrow and Clair.
They were in a cafe in front of one of her stores and she was eating despite insisting that she wasn't hungry and that they would not eat lunch together.
Clair placed the pie in her mouth and closed her eyes, enjoying the delicious taste in her mouth.
It was not a proper meal, but she was starving so it was good enough.
How did she not regard this cafe's existence?
The food is so good!
"Are you sure you weren't hungry?" He asked her looking at the food on the table.
One pumpkin pie and a glass of water were his. Her food consisted of one pumpkin pie, raspberry pie, iced coffee, water, omelet, ham and cheese sandwich, and finally a parfait.
"Hmm." She answered.
He shook his head and picked up his fork. He wasn't as hungry as she was, but seeing her devour the food with such excitement made him wonder just how good the food is.
To his surprise, the food was nothing special. He did not enjoy it as much as she seemed to be enjoying it.
As he continued to study her food, he realized there was a difference between both of their meals. He was extremely curious as to what that was.
'Is mine missing something?' He wondered.
Why did his not taste like anything special? Hers looked way better!
He grabbed her hand and placed the food on the fork in his mouth instead.
"It really is good." He mumbled.
He looked up at her and watched her take the fork back quickly.
She cleared her throat and picked up the glass of water, her cheeks turning pink.
'Huh?'
It confused him, but he smiled. Her food was better than his for sure.
He was grateful that he had gotten at least a bite of it, so he continued eating his own.
"W-why did you do that?" She asked.
"Yours looked better, so I wanted to try it." He replied.
"..."
She didn't know if he was being abnormally honest with her. Or maybe he's always like this.
"Do you always speak like this?" She asked.
"No, I usually prefer to stay quiet unless it's necessary to speak. But I enjoy talking with you." He explained.
"Oh…." She drank from her water again and avoided his gaze.
After finishing her food, Clair felt stuffed. She paid the check, and they walked out of the cafe.
When they were outside her store Clair put on her mask and frowned.
"Why are we even disguising ourselves? Is not like they would recognize us."
"I have been meaning to ask that." He chuckled.
They decided to just go with it.
When the person managing the store was on his phone and didn't even notice them enter the store, Clair found herself disappointed. Of all things, this is not near to what she expected.
She kept that to herself, and with James, she walked to every aisle and section.
From makeup to skincare sets and small accessories with fruity scents.
When she reached the section with different fragrances and skincare sets for different skins, she was even more disappointed.
"I see what the problem is." She mumbled.
"Is it because the scents mixed don't give a pleasant smell?" James asked, and he read the back of one product, looking at the ingredients.
"Yeah, it's too obvious. How could they not see it?" Her lips twitched in annoyance.
"None of the products are in the correct settings. It makes them look bad."
"What's the difference among these three sets?" James asked, pointing to the three glass cases displayed in one corner.
When Clair saw she became even angrier.
These products are hot right now! They should display all of them in the front to catch the customer's attention!
She sighed and walked towards his side.
"The set has three colors, as you can see there is light blue, light green, and lavender."
"They are almost the same products, but we make them for three types of customers." She started explaining.
"The first type is people who have extremely sensitive skin and a lot of acne. I guarantee this serum to clean their skin in less than 3 weeks if they apply it every night before bed after they apply the other part of their skincare routine. The color for them is light green"
"The light blue set is for people who want to make their skin softer and you know shinier. It's like adding an extra spark to already good healthy skin. You can apply it any time of the day without a problem, as long as there's no makeup on the person's face. It is perfect for leaning towards a natural look. These people are also the type to take pride in their looks."
"Oh, like you." He nodded, understanding what she meant.
"..."
Clair looked back at him and opened her mouth she then closed it.
Speechless.
She was speechless.
"You should really stop exposing me like that."
When she wasn't looking he smiled. He found her very intriguing and the more reactions he got from her, the more she piqued up his interest.

lizmorgan Lol, James is going to be in big trouble.
This chapter was supposed to update yesterday and this is what I meant to say “Hey, I'm currently having problems with my internet connection. I'm not sure what's happening but someone should come in to fix the problem tomorrow. As soon as it's fixed I'll upload more chapters!”
Thankfully, someone came by this morning to fix it so now I can continue writing!
