I havent tried that much sports novels, but this appears below average, at least compared to the Almighty Coach thing which was the only one I read into for a while (ended up dropping it due to various reasons). This novel's starting chapter was good, however a system was introduced in the next together with Kobe Bryant. After reading the next chap(s), this novel appears to be more of a fanfic. If you dont have lots of knowledge of basketball, U.S. basketball at that, you wont be able to enjoy this. Especially considering its taking places in 1994, meaning only people above 30 that are big basketball fans might be able to enjoy it to the fullest. The system was also sort of dulled the story. I think it couldve been better to write him practicing in another way instead of directly saying each thing he does. But this is one thing hard to achieve for a book vs a comic and show.
I've read the machine translation of this novel so far there's only 400+ chapters and the author is still not done in the story. So far it's been already 3 seasons and the 4th season is almost over. I don't know if the author is going to set the length of the book until he retires or it's like a season per season thing because so far the fights are pretty legendary. Yes it's repetitive, well you know it's basketball. Btw the plot really deviates after 1 season for reasons (no spoilers) but it just makes it easier to look forward to on how the protagonist would set up a new era and how it would influence some influential characters along the way. Take not if you don't really like basketball all that much you wouldn't be able to have fun reading it much. Anyway if some of you ain't that into it because the character is chinese so far you wouldn't really dislike it because in this era in which stern needs someone to prevent the ratings going downhill a chinese superstar is what he needs and the character isn't really bad in personality.
I think this was really Good i mean like wonderful if i say do myself i Cant stop reading i mean like uts so addicting i just honestly cant stOp mySelf at this point
Entertaining novel.. one of the best basketball novels i read on this site so far. hope the story gets enough votes to be further developed. The MC could be less cold and callous and maybe develop some relationships
It’s a really straight forward basketball story and I’ve definitely laughed at some of the humor and the system isn’t stupidly OP so i rate it

I really love sports novels generally and this ones really good so far the translation is amazing all the characters have some flaws for possible humor aspects I find it funny most of the time. Also not a all powerful MC which is really nice and you get to see him grow along with some of the side characters. The other characters are really well flushed out and appear more then three times they don’t fade into the sunset after just one chapter and never heard from again another plus. In short would love for this novel to be fully translated if possible. ~🐱
Its alright, but not great. The translation is good, and there are no problems in the grammar. However, one of the characters in the book is Kobe Bryant, who is portrayed very differently to how i imagined him to be, and more like what a chinese author would think him to be. Slightly unrealistic in some of the world building aspects, and about 8 chapters and 2 months in, i srill dont know the names of the MCs family, or anything about the MCs family. 6.2 out of 10
