章節 33: Keto, Part 2
"By the way, I was wondering where your parents are. They don't seem to be home right now." I said, looking around at Ash's living room. It was pretty decent, but the place had me feeling peculiar. Especially with the picture hanging on the wall.
"Oh, my dads are at work." He casually replied…
Did I hear that right?
"Your dad? What about your mom?"
"Don't have one." Oh.
"So you live alone with just your dad." He must be in a situation similar to mine before. I used to live with my dad until I decided to live with gramps and my twin brother.
"It's like that. But most of the time they're at work." They're? I shook my head because I must have heard wrong again. I didn't bother to know more since it feels like he's in a complicated family.
My attention just shifted at Keto when I noticed that it got too quiet. And as I expected, he was already knocked out by the booze. "I thought he'll be a heavy drinker." Keto had his face laying flat on the table, and a quiet snoring can be heard.
Ash chuckled and began to clean up the table. "He's always the first one to get drunk whenever we go out to drink. And Jin would be the most sober when we all had enough, I don't think I ever saw him drunk though."
"Eh!?" What the hell. Jin is pretty extreme despite his average normie appearance—he was never a normal person to begin with so it shouldn't be surprising, but he still got me!
"I know, it's pretty hilarious. Other people's reaction about it are funny too."
"Yeah, I can imagine how other people would feel." While Ash was still cleaning, my gaze focused on the defenseless Keto. He actually looks pretty nice when asleep, if he could only sleep forever then I wouldn't have any problems looking after an extremely violent overgrown ass child.
Out of the blue, it made me ask Ash as I stare at Keto's face. "Will he be like this until his family leaves?
"His always like that when his family is home. Keto really tries to avoid them at all cost, and his best distraction is being the second squad leader of the gang."
"Why does he hate his family so much like that?" It's a mystery for me when it comes to these kind of things. Shouldn't he be a little bit more thankful that he has a family that comes home for him?
Ash looked hesitant to answer me, but he sighed and continued to talk more about Keto. "Well, they're not in good terms, that should be obvious by how Keto behaves. I also heard that his parents favors his younger brother more, favoritism can be cruel."
"So that's why…"
"Er, but don't tell Keto I told you any of this. He doesn't like talking about his personal problems."
"It's fine, I won't speak a word about it."
Since Keto is in deep sleep, Ash told me that he'll take charge of the drunk bastard. It was a good thing that I got dismissed like that right away. I made it in time to get home and make dinner for gramps, plus! Keto will definitely have a rough hang over tomorrow so that means!!…
"Hey!! It's been a while!" I greeted.
I can hear him chuckle on the other line. "Sorry I took so long. I thought you gave me some codes I need to decipher, it was late when I realized that it was your phone number."
"That's fine! It's fine. I never could have guessed that you were too slow to realize hahaha." It's been a week since I last saw him. I actually thought that he must have forgotten about me but it was nice that he sent me a message.
"How mean!"
"It's true anyway. You really made me wait for long."
I heard him sigh before he spoke again. "I said I'm sorry… but I'm glad that you waited. So, when are you free?"
Recalling the time I spent with him, it was really fun and I look forward to have another fun day with him again. My lips can't help but curve into a smile as I speak with him on the phone. "How about tomorrow? Is that good?"
"Yep! Let's meet up at the bakery I showed you last time, you still remember where it is right?"
"Definitely."
"10 a.m., infront of the bakery. Got that?" I can hear the excitement in his tone, but my tone doesn't differ that much from his. I'm really looking forward to this.
"Yeah, I'll see you there. Don't be late Cain!"
"I won't. See you tomorrow, Lynn." As the call ended there, I had a good night sleep knowing that I won't have to bother myself with Keto for a whole day.
