I was walking back to Iris and Hunter's bunker with clothes and other essential items for them. Noah had been called into the infirmary so Cora sent me for the clothes. I knocked on the door and waited about half a minute with no answer. I knocked again but still no answer. So I decided to let myself in. I opened the door to find Iris and Hunter laying in bed next to each other. Hunter held Iris in his arms and they were both fast asleep. I suddenly felt a jealous feeling rise in my stomach. Seeing both of them together in each other's arms made me want to get out of here as quickly as possible. I fought the urge and instead set their supplies on top of the drawers. I made my way over to the bed and shook them awake. Iris woke up first and looked up at me in confusion, followed by Hunter who looked just as confused.
"What are you doing here?" asked Hunter.
"I brought you your clothes, Noah got called to the infirmary, so Cora sent me for them instead." Hunter nodded in understanding and went to inspect the supplies. I decided to ask them about what I had just seen, "So...did I miss something, or are you guys together? Because you guys seemed to be hugging each other a little tightly just now." Hunter and Iris stared at each other for a while until Hunter said, "Yes, we are together." I had to resist the urge to tackle Hunter, "Really. When did that happen?"
Iris kept staring at Hunter, "A couple of hours ago actually." My hands tightened into fist at my side as I replied, "Well...congratulations. I'm so happy for you." I turned to leave before I could fly into a jealous rage. I started to walk out the door when I felt Hunter's hand on my shoulder, "Hey, Calvin. Do you mind taking us to the mess hall? We're still pretty unfamiliar with this place and I think I speak for both me and Iris when I say I'm hungry."
I hesitated for a second before answering, "Yeah...sure. Follow me. I should warn you though, there may not be as many options available since it's pretty late already."
"Were fine with that," Hunter said. Then his stomach growled. Loudly. Both me and Iris stared at him and then at each other. He laughed in embarrassment, "Guess I really am hungry." We walked out the door and into the alleys between the barracks. We took a couple of twists and turns before coming to a stop in front of a large open area strewn with tables and benches. There was hardly anyone eating at this time of day. I let Iris and Hunter make their way to the serving tables and started heading back to my barracks. On my way there I had only one thought coursing through my brain, I was going to tell Iris how I felt about her and I was going to get her to fall in love with me.
