As Muriel was taking in her surrounding she began to focus on what everyone was doing at this time. Kyle and Spencer were messing around as Kyle created a small fire ball in his hand while tossing it in the fire pit. Spencer finished his cup looking slightly bummed. He disappeared then reappeared with two more drinks while nearly falling out of his chair as he clearly had a few too many. Muriel's eyes drifted seeing Craig and Tweek as they were no longer using their chairs. They were actually laying on the ground with their hands behind their head gazing up at the sky. Muriel could feel the peace and joy in the two boys as they seemed really happy with one another. Muriel looked over at the other group seeing Wendy with Bebe and Stan. She noticed Stan was hiding his face in Wendy's shoulder as he was nearly falling asleep as he had several empty cup near his feet. Looking over at Bebe and Wendy, Muriel noticed Wendy was playing with Bebe's hair. Muriel's heart jolted when she saw Wendy placing the rose Shay had made in Bebe's hair. Muriel could sense the happiness coming from Bebe as she looked back at Wendy in pure joy. I guess they are better for each other. Muriel thought as she looked around a little more. Sudden her eyes fell on someone she hadn't taken much notice into. The moment she laid eyes on him she could sense strong emotions but none of them good. He just seemed unhappy. Following his eye's she noticed he was glaring at Shay who was still looking at Bebe with a big smile on his face. 'I should probably talk to this guy. I might be the person who can help.' Muriel thought as she slowly made her way to the sad soul. When she approached him he didn't seem fazed as he was still staring Shay down like a hawk to it's prey. "You seem to not like Shay huh?" Muriel asked while pulling up an empty chair.
Clyde was slightly caught off guard as he didn't notice her coming. Looking over he didn't expect 'this girl' would talk to him. 'Why is she even over here talking to me? Is it because I'm the only one not talking with someone right now? Oh shit did she ask me something? She's looking at me like she's waiting for me to answer.' "Uhh sorry, what did you say?" He asked feeling slightly embarrassed.
"I asked if you don't like Shay. You have been glaring at him almost all night."
"Oh uhh it's not him. It's.. the one he's with."
"Wait, you mean the sourcer?"
"Yeah."
"Is she your girlfriend?" She said with a hint of hope in her voice.
Clyde tensed as he felt a knot forming in his throat. "Ex." He simply said.
Muriel could sense his sadness deepened so sudden. 'Shit, he's really hooked on her I guess. I could help but I should ask first since he wasn't in the room when I showed everyone my ability.' "Hey uhh I know your sad and all but I think I can help you."
"Nothing can help me. I am constantly fixated on something I can't have. I honestly didn't want to come knowing she would be here."
"Hey it's okay. Sometimes you have to let the past go and move forward. Believe it or not but I know what your going through. I really like him. I have known his for three years and he never once looked at me the way he does with her. I'll tell you now, that's all I ever wanted. Yes it hurts but my friend Y/N opened my eyes to focus on what is in front of me. Not what I can't have. So... maybe that's what you should do too. Things happen for a reason." Muriel said while glancing at the brunette.
Clyde was taken back by her kindness as he wasn't used to it. "I'm sorry, what's your name?" He asked.
"I'm Muriel, and you are?"
"Clyde." He said while offering to shake her hand.
Muriel looked down at his hand slightly worried. "I need to warn you my ability works by touch. It won't hurt but it could be overwhelming."
Clyde looked at her confused.
"Honestly I can't explain it but it will probably make you feel better." She said while looking up in his eyes. "But it is up to you." She said with her hand out waiting for him to reach out.
Clyde was slightly worried but at the same time didn't see the harm. He closed the gap between their hands as he held her hand for a moment waiting for- an immediate rush flowed over his body as the depression that he had been keeping to himself was being enveloped by a warmth and joy he hadn't felt since before his mom died when he was only 10 years old. The longer he held her hand the more it seemed the still lingering depression was fading as if it was dissolving away. Without a warning Clyde could feel his eye beginning to fill with water as this all nearly brought him to a tear.
Muriel was watching as the brunette was in shock. She could sense all the pain and misery he was holding in him dematerialize slightly reminding her of watching Night Stalker teleport. Then near tears formed as this was clearly overwhelming to him. Without thinking she pulled her hand away feeling slightly ashamed. At that moment he tried standing up out of his chair but instead collapsed on his knees. Muriel began to panic as she knew she should have tried holding her power back a bit. She quickly dropped to her knees as she held her hands out wanting to help but stopped herself as she was afraid to touch him again. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry I-" Muriel was cut off by him suddenly grabbing both her hands. Firmly but gentle. Muriel's eyes widened in surprise.
Clyde looked up directly into her eyes. "Don't be sorry.. This is EXACTLY what I needed." He said as a tear rolled down his cheek to the corner of a peaceful smile.
Muriel's smile matched his as they both sat on the ground silent for a few minutes as they enjoyed each others compassion. Both not seeming to pull their hands away even in the slightest. 'Maybe this evening will be enjoyable after all.' They both thought to themselves.
