'Date. A date.' Mary Earle's brain had almost shut off upon hearing Hero mention the word 'date'. All sorts of thoughts had crossed through her mind all at once, none of them was helping to decrease the heat from rising in her cheeks.

By now, Mary was certain that there was no way that she could hide the blush which was most likely showing on her face. Her heart hammered so hard against her chest, it took all the strength that was left in her body to keep her breathing steady.

'It's just a friendly date, Mary. Calm yourself down. Don't think too much about it.' She convinced herself, trying to form a coherent sentence to at least respond.

She had been too flustered that she was unable to say anything to him nor could she think of anything to say at all. It was as if her mind had suddenly blanked out and all she could see was Hero and his handsome face.
