The Esper College opens its gate for the returning students of the school. At the side of the gate near the entrance, a tablet was erected with many etched names on its surface. Those names are the students that perished in the last terrorist attack in the school along with the teachers and school officers that sacrificed their lives to ensure the safety of the rest of the students.
It was early in the morning and many who would enter the school would offer some flowers to the monument before entering the school. Some even have tears in their eyes as some of those who have died in the school are their friends.
At the side of the entrance of the school is a young woman leaning on the wall while looking at the clock on her phone.
Her brow is already knitted and an annoyed expression is clearly written all over her face.
She might not be as beautiful as those female students who enter the school, but she still attracts many eyes with her unique charms.
Jenny Mae has been waiting for almost 15 minutes and has a look of irritation. A young woman suddenly noticed her and immediately approaches.
"Hey, Jenny… Aren't you going to class?" Loo Crystal Noah asked as she linked her arms on Jenny Mae's.
Jenny just showed her a frown and looks at Loo Crystal's lovely face.
"Your… your aura suddenly change," Jenny said with her expression changing into astonishment.
This is because Loo Crystal Noah seems to have grown stronger after experiencing the battle.
"Oh… you've noticed. Hihi… My dad forced me to train these few weeks. It was really hard and I almost gave up. But luckily I persevere and now, my fire technique is already mid-level… Hihi…"
"Really? What about your level in fire affinity?" Jenny Mae asked with a slightly shocked expression.
"Oh, that… It raised by three levels… but my dad told me that it would be harder to raise it after reaching level 15 as that is the highest possible with our current technology… If only I could get help from the masked man, then maybe I could also rapidly increase my power to 25 just like 'Tempest'…"
"Yeah… maybe… But if you have heard how Tempest describes that ordeal, I think you would think twice before wishing to increase your ability." Jenny said with a sneer.
As the two talks to each other, Curt's figure appears. He is sweating a bit as he seems to be running when he reached the gate.
Jenny Mae immediately noticed Curt and seeing him breathing heavily, she suddenly frowns.
"Did this guy run from his house to school?" she thought as she could see a trail of sweat from his brow and cheeks.
However, it made her a bit confused. This is because she already knew that Curt is already earning more than enough for him to even buy his own car even if it is the cheapest one. However, she could also tell that he is trying to develop his physique.
And she herself found it a bit attractive when she accidentally saw him changing his shirt after a day of exercise outside when she suddenly visits his house.
Jenny Mae could not deny that she is a bit attracted to the young man, whom she only thought of as a practice to prepare her heart as Curt looks and acted really docile and subservient, yet now, it seems that everything is different.
Sometimes she would subconsciously find herself thinking of him and even would shake herself in disbelief when she feels like she is missing his presence.
Although she is a bit annoyed a while ago, yet upon seeing Curt's figure walking towards her, a faint smile appears on her face.
"Hey… Sorry… I was late… I had to deliver something to the store." Curt said with a smile.
Jenny Mae also showed a faint smile on her face as she subconsciously waved her hand towards him. Seeing her friend being close to a young man, Loo Crystal Noah showed a surprised expression while looking at Jenny Mae.
She was dumbfounded upon seeing that smile on Jenny Mae's face. She has been friends with Jenny Mae for many years now and this is the first time she saw her smiling like that to a man.
She would not even show that kind of smile to her long-time crush and senior Alan Kane. So how could she show such expression to this new guy?
With her curiosity up high and her gossip spirit tingling, she smells that something is happening between her best friend and his guy approaching them.
Suddenly something hits her.
"No, it can't be? He is not… right?" she thought as she subconsciously shakes her head.
Jenny Mae noticed the reaction of Loo Crystal and just showed a faint smile. She knew what her friend is thinking, but she did not want to say anything. Curt and she already discussed that they would not reveal their relationship in public. Although her senior Alan Kane already knew about it, yet she is still reluctant to say it.
"Sigh… let's go inside… you have to report to the school registration office first to get some stuff." Jenny Mae said as she drags Loo Crystal to the school's small gate.
Loo Crystal was a bit curious about Curt so she began to prove the relationship between the two. Curt told her what Jenny Mae wanted him to tell others about them. Although Loo Crystal did not fully believe his explanation, she still accepted it in the meantime.
Not long later, Curt finished his school registration and was given his ID card. Then Jenny Mae and Loo Crystal went to their own classes leaving him to find his own class.
He located a large lecture hall and as he peeks inside he could already see many students sitting and talking to each other. It seems that many of the students already knew each other and is familiar.
When Curt opens the door and enters, he suddenly noticed that the room turned silent. Meanwhile, a tall young man wearing spectacles approached him.
"You're a new student, right? Hmm… that's weird… we never expected to have someone enroll. It's already mid-school year…" the young man said as he extended his hand towards Curt.
Curt wanted to shake his hand, but the young man frowns.
"Your ID…" he said with a strict tone.
Curt was a bit embarrassed but did not bear it in mind as he is already used to these kinds of people. So he just showed the young man his ID.
Upon seeing his power level, the young man frown, and a sneer appeared on his face.
"Just another lower-level esper… Take a seat anywhere and don't bother the others…" the young man said as he fixed his glasses and smugly walks away.
After the bespectacled young man walks away, the students in the class resumed their conversation, and the lecture hall return to its lively state.
Curt just shrugs his shoulder and walks up the stairs and sits in a corner. While he walks, Curt tried his best not to meet someone's gaze. His old timid self is once again acting up at this moment.
But in one corner of the classroom, two young men who had watched the exchange are actually throwing glowing gaze in Curt's direction. They look at each other and the two already knew what's in each other's mind and both nodded simultaneously.
"It's him…" one of the young men said with a grin.
"Yeah, I know… who would have thought that he really is an esper…" the other one said in a low voice.
The two sneakily get out of their seats and then approached Curt's location.
Curt notices two young men sneakily approach his seat and then without a word sits beside him.
"Hey… I'm Michael Chan… and this Bern Leonard…" the young man with dark brown hair said while he extended his hand and did not even bother to ask Curt as he just grabs his hand and shakes them.
The other one just waves his hand in a cool manner.
"Curt… Curt Nilfiem…" Curt just replied courtly as he tries to take his hand back.
"Hehe… It was you right?" Michael Chan suddenly asked with enthusiasm clearly written all over his face after releasing Curt's hand.
Curt showed a confused look on his face as he did not know what the young man is saying.
Seeing his reaction, Michael realized thought that Curt would deny it, so he leans closer.
"I saw you that day… you helped that woman and also a lot of people in that infirmary… I was… I was one of the people you've helped... don't you remember?" the young man said with a grateful smile on his face.
Although Michael is a bit disappointed that Curt did not remember him, he is still grateful.
Curt realizes what the young man was talking about. In his anxiousness to help others, he seems to have exposed himself, but he knew that in that chaotic scene who would remember his partly dirt-covered face?
But it seems that his young man was also saved by him and is now already able to come back to school.
Curt did not want to be disturbed as he just wanted to go through the formality of the school and then go back to his old simple life, so he showed a faint smile.
"I rather that you don't tell this to anyone… I would be really grateful if you do this…"
The two were a bit dumbfounded and did not know what to say. Who would have known that the so-called miraculous doctor at that time is this humble? They now have a high opinion of the young miraculous doctor.
The two promised and in that small corner of the lecture hall, a friendship started between three young people.
Not long later, a handsome young man around the age of 25 enters the lecture hall, he is wearing a light blue shirt and black pants looking semi-formal, and on his back, he is carrying a black backpack.
With the young man entering, everyone in the lecture hall turned silent. Curt noticed that everyone is showing a respectful gaze on the young man.
As the young man lifted his head, he began scanning the students. When his eyes landed on Curt, he suddenly frowns.
Seeing the frown on the young man which seems to be the teacher, Curt feels that there is trouble brewing in the air.
