Chapter 16
ALEXA ROHAN
'Darkness'
'yeah'
I was walking in an endless darkness.
Then I started panicking after a while of walking to seemingly nowhere. So I begun to ran— I ran searching for a light; a light that could somehow overcome the dark.
And there I saw it, a glimpse of it; so far, so faint. So I made my way towards it, stumbling and tripping on my feet.
When I was almost at it, I slowed down my pace to the point of fully stopping.
The light was suspended and it moved towards me taking a form along the way; a form that shook every muscle of my body.
An overwhelming sense of dread washed over me beholding the image up front. I then hyperventilated and in my ears, my heart pounded.
'yellow'
'a pair of menacing yellow eyes'
My legs buckled and I went on my knees, never taking away my gaze from those bright neon orbs. Until I was looking up to a man I could sell my soul to anyone just to have him killed by my own hands.
And out of nowhere, raindrops started to fall— kissing my face and erasing the figure of the man before me like some wet paint.
Before I knew it, I was already soaking wet kneeling on a muddy ground of the earth.
Then I heard a loud cry of pain mixed with anger and I gasped in horror seeing my father's arm being ripped off from his shoulder.
Blood spurted and dripping— along with his echoing cry.
There I saw my mom ran to help but was sent out flying in a nearby trunk by another werewolf, forcefully knocking the air out from her lungs and blood spit out of her mouth.
They were outnumbered in the fight.
Dad tried to move with his remaining strength, groaning in pain as most of his bones were already broken.
My mom— she struggled to stand too, enduring the pain.
They were both naked, with bodies full of cuts and bruises.
Their state shouted exhaustion from an extreme battle; a battle that's surely not in their favor.
"You know it's pointless to fight me at this point Richard," the man with those yellow neon eyes uttered while throwing away my father's arm and sent his body right next to it.
The man walked a couple of meters away and picked up my father's cane, a silver sword inside it.
In a blink, he's already standing in front of my dad.
"I'll let your own sword take your life Richard."
He smirked, "An honorable way to die."
Then I saw blood spurting like a fountain from my father's neck down to his chest as the man swung a slash to him. And far from satisfied, he buried the sword deep to dad's heart making him vomit some of the blood.
And before my father went dead on the ground, he gave me an apologetic smile and a falling tear—
'yeah'
... a tear despite the raindrops that were falling on his battered face.
The scene sucked the very breath of me. I was overflowing with anger but fear— dread overpowered it making me paralyzed on my spot.
Fear crept through my veins, immobilizing me— holding me captive.
Despite the faint voice that's urging me to stand, my legs just won't. I was trembling, I felt like I don't have bones at all.
My eyes drifted away from my father's dead gaze and followed the motion of the murderer. In a swift move, he stretched out his arm and darted the sword in my mom's direction, and it pierced through her heart.
I froze—
My mom didn't even able to utter a sound nor a gasp when the weapon hit her. And like in some movies, I watched her fall in a very slow motion down to the mud.
And there was silence— or I just went deaf that I couldn't even hear the pitter patter of the falling rain.
After a while, one of the enemy werewolves around, put on a coat to the man who just brutally killed my parents.
An Alpha—
He reeked of that power, and he made his way towards me after putting on the coat, taking the time of his every stride.
Reaching me, he bent down as I was kneeling, then lifted up my chin with his filthy hand.
"Live— Alexa," his voice ran a chill down to my soul.
"Live a life of revenge."
"Live like I'm the one who fuels your life."
"Live—
"Live in pain—"
"... in agony,"
"... in anger,"
"... in hatred and in wrath."
"Live like killing me is the sole purpose of your life."
"And I will wait for you, Alexa."
"So do—not— disappoint me."
[*************]
I spent a long time in the shower, trying to relieve the stress in my muscles.
It's not often I have that nightmare but when it does, it takes a toll in my body and worst, insanity.
Guess, thanks to Lou, I'm not having those extremely this time around.
~He's strong— and weak~
~ugh~
~I don't know~
Reika has been telling me of what she thinks and feels about our mate but she's unsure of everything and so am I.
With what happened last night, Reika is convinced that being mate with them can make us formidable and grow beyond limits which I hate to admit.
Also, there's something Reika and I is bothered about of our mate. We have sense something that we can't point out, something that is off with them, something —, just something that we do not know.
~So are you giving them a chance?~
I rolled my eyes, "I don't know."
~They would make us stronger so what's stopping you?~
'pride'
'tsk'
I didn't answer her.
I just chewed the inside of my cheek as I ran my thoughts about the mate thing.
'should I give in?'
La la la la — what’s your thoughts? Let me know in the comments.
