With Mary gone, all that was left was the damage she caused. The broken-down church, blackened walls, and injured people. When I got back to where Violet and the others were, all I saw were the crumbling walls, burying the people beneath.
[Violet!!]
I ran straight to where she was lying, ignoring the pain in my back and the debris piercing through my four legs. The high roof crumbled down, making way for the moon to shine its light. I quickly leaped above her, shielding her from the ruins. It didn't take long for warm blood to flow down my face and onto Violet's pale skin.
When the crumbling died down, I bit her cape and carefully moved her to a safer corner, shifting back to my human form. She was still burning, her skin hot to the touch.
