The alarms blared loudly and flashing red lights painted the military camp with panic. Soldiers ran to and fro as they attempted to figure out what exactly was going on. To be fair, it wasn't all that difficult.
HIIISSSSSSS
The loud hiss of a gigantic 100ft snake and the luminescent green fog that followed it were hard to miss.
[Combat positions everyone!]
Colonel's wright voice thundered through the speaker system. Instantly, the soldiers were instilled with a sense of duty.
This wasn't a coincidence, the Colonel's mutant powers originated from that of the Charlatan Parakeet. A mutant bird said to persuade others towards their death for the sake of a hearty meal. The colonel's combat power was therefore rather low when compared to that of others but no one could argue against his ability to command others.
Of course, it also depended deeply on whether or not his own calls were the right ones. More often than not it was impossible to know beforehand whether sending both the young and old soldiers to die a pointless death was worth it.
Various squads of vehicles armed to the teeth instantly set out towards the lake and the mist.
"What the hell are you doing!?" Calean who had until recently been having a pleasant sleep yelled angrily.
"S- Sir Stryker!" The colonel was nearly frightened to death finding the irritated Calean with his disheveled clothes and hair at his door.
"Are you a moron!? Send those men back!" Calean screamed out not minding the colonel's confusion and fear.
"Si- Sir! They have protective gear, the poiso-" The colonel instantly became more understanding after finding out the cause for Calean's wrath but he was still rudely cut off.
"You think I don't know that? Send them back, now!" Calean's wrath nearly made him bust a vein out of anger. His blood pulsed wildly but he somehow managed to keep himself in check after seeing the colonel grab the speakers once more.
[Quickly return to camp to regroup!]
The new order fell and it was just as simple as the previous one. Nevertheless, it was too late.
"Huh?" The corrosive and toxic cloud of green doused the windshield like rain. But that wasn't the oddity, the oddity was the way it burned right through it!
"What the hell!?" The driver instantly forced down on the brakes of their car and the others followed suite after they too falling victim to the cloud.
"Aaaah! My suit! It- It's burning!" Someone in the passenger seat yelled with much panic. They were appalled at the sight of their countermeasure corroding into nothingness and at the sight of their tender skin underneath being burned by association.
But if it was just that it wouldn't be an attack now would it? Burning the suits was just the start.
"Aaaargh!" "Aaaah!" "Fuck it hurts!" All sorts of different screams and yelps of pain were heard and they all fell into disorder.
"M- my hand!!!" Some who had the instinctive reaction of blocking their head with their hands and arm didn't fare very well. They were met with the gruesome sight of seeing the skin of their hands being eaten by the acidic air. This allowed visage to their bones and this, in turn, allowed them to catch sight of the snake behind the deadly green haze. The creature whose blood-red eyes penetrated the fog giving them boundless fear.
"A- A- Aaaah!" Some of the soldiers would be petrified upon the sight and die of a heart attack. Not once before had they been succumbed to the terror of such magnitude.
SKRRRR
The drivers who fell at their seats caused the moving vehicles to crash into those in front of them or to derail from the road and crash into the trees and greenery. Needless to say, it was mayhem.
Calean who was watching from their camera feeds could not help but want to nearly pull his hair out.
"Lot set out first! Let's kill that son of a bitch!" Calean told Lot who had appeared there at some point. As for who he referred to… it was obviously the gigantic snake in the middle of the lake.
"Got it" Lot nodded and said before wings propped out of his back. They were bug winds, like that of a dragonfly. It didn't end there however as his skin turned hard and scaly.
Within a second from the transformation, Lot shot out like a cannonball towards its target. He flew into the green haze leaving only a trail to recognize he was ever even there.
"Judith, assist him. I'm going to get changed" calean said through gritted teeth. It sounded mighty irresponsible but Calean never cared for the soldiers. He cared for the resources he was losing with their failure.
Now that they were dead and in disarray the least he could do was make himself presentable before eliminating the gigantic foe.
"Wright, if I find that this had anything to do with your subordinates underwater survey you shouldn't expect to live another day" Calean turned to the colonel and said with a glare. It was an obvious threat.

"Where are we going to head? Towards the road!?" I asked as we ran through the tall grass with nothing but the sound of scared animals and our hurried footsteps to orient ourselves.
"We are heading to Eden!" Kaiser declared in reply causing many to gasp. We are heading to Eden! Those words for sure resonated in the mind of the group.
"Aaah!" But before they could fantasize for too long they were reminded of the still present peril.
"Fuck! Nardo!" Hawk yelled as he pulled out his handgun. He wasn't the only one, all of us turned to him who had been running at the back safeguarding our flank.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The shots rang and reverberated through the night field alerting everything to our position. Luckily, I doubted anything was in the mood to eat with the snake in the background.
As for the horrible hare, as it was called, it was shot thrice.
"For fucks sake, my back..." The scared rabbit had accidentally tackled Nardo in its tactical retreat.
HISSSS
Subconsciously, I turned towards the now tiny and distant monstrosity. I narrowed my eyes and caught sight of a speck of dust. No, it might have actually been a human figure. Regardless, it had tackled the snake and its body that reached above the lake surface.
ROOOAR!!!
But a roar broke me out of my stupor, it reminded me that I wasn't safe here. Not yet at least.
Almost instinctively I wanted to turn and run but…
"Nardo! Come on we need to go!" Rohawk, a close friend of Nardo yelled as he offered him a hand.
"What the hell do you think you are doing!? Run!" But Nardo wasn't having it. Even with a hand, he wasn't capable of getting up. Believe it or not, the horrible hare was at the altered grade five. Rook's tips were quite handy.
Nardo on the other hand was still in grade three. The difference of 3 grades was easy to overcome in a face-off but he was blindsided. The 43-year-old man was blindsided by a rabbit.
Suddenly the ground trembled as the grass parted and revealed the face of a gigantic bear. This bear didn't stop, it never had stopped.
"Nardo!" Rohawk yelled as he saw the bear continue to rush forward not minding the body of Nardo that was beneath its large paw.
It all happened in a split second, Hawk pushed aside Rohawk and everybody else not struck by fear and confusion also did the same.
Splatter. It splattered.
"God…" His body was squeezed like a carton of juice that spurted out all its liquid. To top it off, his organs were hardly even recognizable in the night sky.
But all the beastly bear had done was flee from whence it came. Yet, Nardo was dead. And the bear carried on its way never even minding our existence.
I was hit by uncertainty. Was it really possible for me to live in this world where even an ant could be a giant?
Second Week in a row. Let's go!
I hope all of you guys enjoyed this. I'm trying to make this a somewhat gruesome and vividly detailed novel so if there are any improvements that you think can be made please say something!
