[Adrian's POV]

'I'm home.'

Adrian stared at the text for a long time before clicking the power button, leaving it on read. His arm dropped on the mattress and his phone tumbled to the corner of his bed. It's been an hour since he received Johan's message, but after the discussion he had with Aaron and Audrey's rude intervention, he didn't feel like replying anymore.

As much as it pained him to admit it, this endless pursuit needed to end. It was clear to him now that Johan had no plans to pursue a relationship with him. The cold realization seeped into his skin, crushing his bone, numbing his heart. There was nothing in this setup but misery.

Adrian lay on his side and curled into a fetal position. A tear slipped out of the corner of his eyes, blurring his vision. Before his restless mind shut down, the screen of his smartphone went alight again. He removed the notification, and his wallpaper showed up.
