[Johan's POV]

Johan gripped the actual birthday card he made for Adrian and waited outside the green gate with his nerves, telling him it's a bad idea to go to the party today. Honestly, he had his reservations after a heartbreaking goodbye with Alden. A small voice in his head goaded him it's not too late to crawl back to Alden's yacht, or that he should have tried harder convincing Russell to accompany him.

His apprehension only skyrocketed when the gate creaked open. Johan turned away and took three steps back then hid the red envelope behind his bag just as Adrian stepped out with a troubled expression on his face.

"Han?"

"Um. Hey—Pi Birthday," Johan said and gave an awkward grin. His eyes darted to a passing jeepney, and for a second, he considered chucking the envelope at Adrian before running after the said yellow vehicle. His nerves were killing him.
