Remy pulled the covers up over them both and wrapped her in his arms. "No kidding." He didn't have enough blood back in his brain for conversation yet.

"I'm glad you're not hurt anymore." Her comment was punctuated by a soft yawn.

"Yeah. Me too."

He felt the twitch of her lips as she smiled against his chest. "Goodnight, Remy."

He knew there was some reason he shouldn't do this, but his brain was still fried. He reached out and turned off the lamp. Then adjusted her delightful weight against his shoulder. "Goodnight, cherie. Sleep well."

Then with a satisfied sigh, he closed his eyes and joined her.

He woke to the sensation that something was wrong.
