By the time we came to a halt at the foot of the long, narrow dais, my questing mind had discovered our location-far beneath the great pyramids at Giza in Egypt. I resisted an eye roll at the cliché, unimpressed.
As I was by the shadows hiding the faces of those above me. Could they be any more Hollywood B movie? Film noir tactics would do nothing to keep me from asking the hard questions. And getting the answers I wanted.
"I'm here for Everonus," I said, watching the second from the center flinch ever so slightly. Whatever power they used to mask themselves individually did nothing to keep them from hearing me. Or from giving themselves away.
I focused on the culprit as he leaned reluctantly forward, a frown on his perfect Fey face.
