The gentle breeze of wind in the air, the heat of the sun glazing to one's skin, and the sound of crumbly soil as one takes a step on it. Ezekiel and Bagani completed their training within the temple. With a step forward towards their goal, they exited the establishment to follow their separate paths. Ezekiel planned to visit home once again before continuing to search for the Buhayostine. Bagani with nothing else planned decided to go straight and search for it whilst hunting Aswangs. They walked a straight path together before finding a path and separating. Ezekiel's eyes widened, he remembered his situation, he halted on his tracks and placed his palm over his head.
"How the hell am I supposed to go back?" He muttered to himself.
Bagani turned around to see his friend in peril with his thoughts. He walked up and checked on Ezekiel. "What's going on?"
"I don't know the way back home..." Ezekiel shook And chuckled. "The hell am I supposed to do now? I only found this temple by luck."
Bagani grabbed into his bag and grabbed something. "Here." He reached out a piece of paper and gave it to Ezekiel.
"What is this?" Ezekiel asked.
"It's a map," Bagani replied. "It might be a bit torn but it will help you get back. Just follow the path towards your village."
"It's pretty small for a map but okay," Ezekiel stated. "Guess I'm taking a turn from Village Magbato to get to the west side of my home."
"Hey, quick favor." Bagani grabbed a small knife from his bag. It was covered in fine cloth that came from the temple. "Ask one of the residents there to find Noah Malaya and give this to him. Trust me almost everybody there knows the guy."
"No problem," Ezekiel replied. Bagani reached his destination as they arrive near the road towards the east. "See you next time I guess."
"Yeah, I'll be getting a headstart then." Bagani energetically ran to the path east and ventured.
The sandy road dusted his feet as he walked. Bagani munched on some snacks James set up for the both of them.
"Guess I'm gonna get lost again." Bagani thought to himself. "At least hunting will be much easier with my swords... Erm sword."
Bagani ventured at a slow pace, sunset came shortly after on where he decided to stop and take a rest. He quickly built a campfire to have light throughout the night. Bagani rolled up a nearby fallen log to sit on. With the shining river at the side of the road, he looked up to the sky to see hundreds and thousands of stars gazing upon him.
"I wonder what's up there. Do the gods even care what will happen to us?" He asked himself. "Anyways I should get ready."
Bagani went to a bush nearby his campfire and picked berries he was very familiar with. He crushed them in his metal cup and boiled them in the flames. As he waited for the drink to be complete his impatience began to take over. He shook his leg like a dog scratching itself, he tapped on the log he was sitting, he began to breathe heavily, he stared at the ground having visual thoughts of uneasiness. His thought began to clout up his mind, pulling him away from reality as he daydreamed. Voices in his head began to speak louder.
"Did you learn anything from the temple?"
"Weren't we supposed to reach it together brother?"
"Imagine your goal taken by some random guy."
"You couldn't even save her!"
"Who are you?"
A loud high pitch sound snapped Bagani out of his thought. Slowly the tingling high pitch sound became duller, it transformed into the sound of bubbles popping by. He noticed his drink was fully cooked. Bagani grabbed the metal cup. The flames warmed up Bagani as he ate and drank under the leaves of an oak tree. He stared at the campfire still with impatience in his eyes. A peculiar sound of a crow was suddenly heard far in the woods.
"Got you!" Bagani sprinted away from his campfire and went further into the forest.
As he grabbed his two swords he dropped his drink. The soft rustling sounds of leaves beneath his feet echoed as he ran, the cold mist of the night chilled his hands as he held unto the swords. Bagani stopped on his tracks as he saw his target. It was an Aswang all alone without a pack planning to attack the person on the campfire.
"I found you first bastard," Bagani whispered. "Die."
He rushed unto the creature and pulled out Hait from its case. As he used his spirit energy, the sword began to shine brightly which alarmed the Aswang. The creature spread its wings and flapped to conjure air towards Bagani.
"So its that type eh?" Bagani remembered his moment inside the library.
"Seems like there's more than one type," James mumbled. "That's scary..."
"What is more than one type?" Bagani curiously asked.
"The Aswang race," James replied. He noticed his choice of words and apologized to Bagani. " Sorry that's was insensitive."
Bagani sighed. "No, it's alright. Just tell me about it."
"There are multiple types of Aswang. It said here that some can transform into animals, some can fly using their wings, some even spell casters." James explained.
"Which one of them can stretch their tongue?" Bagani hurriedly queried.
"All of them actually," James answered. "Its the signature move of the Aswangs in attacking their prey."
[Present]
The Aswang lashed out its tongue as a projectile while Bagani flinched and airborne a few feet due to the wind. The foul beast took its chance and attempted to scratch Bagani with its unnerving sharp claws. With a sinister grin, the Aswang's claw scraped the Asulhero's face. Bagani's side began to shine a bright crimson red light. He pulled the item out midair and smashed the Aswang's hand it can injure him. With the weight of the sword, the hand of the monster was instantly decapitated. Bagani landed on the ground safely while the Aswang panicked and landed head first on the ground.
"What did you do?!" The monster screamed.
Bagani stared at it with disgust in his eyes. He kicked dirt towards the face of the beast. "You can talk after all. Now beg for your life."
"Who are you?..." The Aswang shivered on the ground helplessly.
Bagani took a few steps towards the creature, he crouched down and took off his eyepatch. The Aswang was silenced as he saw Bagani's face clearly. "An Asulhero?!" It thought to itself. "No... This is the one we hunted."
The creature hyperventilated and screamed. It tried to crawl away from Bagani with its injured body but to no avail. Bagani stomped his feet on the leg of the Aswang. "Help!" The Aswang screech for the help of others, signaling distress. Bagani pulled out Hait and stabbed the Aswang's mouth form its tongue through its chin. The Aswang laughed ominously as Bagani punished it.
"What's so funny huh?" Bagani grunted.
"E engoyed ek." The creature mumbled out words unable to be understood due to his stabbed mouth. Bagani pulled out his sword from the beast's mouth to hear its statement.
"What were you saying?" Bagani asked.
The monster laughed out so intensely that blood came running out of his mouth. "We enjoyed it. Was it your sister?" The Aswang grinned widely staring at Bagani with a frightening look.
"Bastard..." Bagani's eyes fully opened, not able to blink a single time.
"I don't even care about what happens next." The Aswang taunted. "her savory juicy blood with the rendering fat of an Asulhero is more than what my life is worth. She was delicious."
Blacking out of reality, Bagani's hand instantly pulled Dugo from his pockets. The Eye of Bathala shined in Bagani's eye as slammed his sword into the head of the beast.
"More!" A voice inside Bagani's head shouted stronger.
Dugo lighted up with its dark red color. It became heavier than ever before, as Bagani used it, it did not only crush the head of the Aswang but also the ground along with it.
"More!" Bagani continued to chop down the dead enemy. Making loud noises due to Dugo's heaviness dropping unto the ground. With blood-splattered all over his face, Bagani stopped and stared into the ground hindering all his senses apart from his sight.
"I will kill all of you."
