章節 20: Chapter 20

Layla snorts and shook her head, disbelieving what Liv has told her. Her classmate has, once again a new rumor to tell Layla and when she did, Layla didn't believe her and instead laughed for a minute until Liv persuaded her that it's true.

"Laylaaa! It's true! Believe me this time!" Liv begged her to believe her words but Layla was hard-headed and shook her head.

"No. It's just a rumor! How could that man of a devil agree to come to the party that our teachers are holding? That man for sure isn't like that! You saw how he is, Liv." She argued back, still not believing that Sir Kingsley agreed to come to the party, his welcome party.

"Well, that I don't know but, I'm sure this time! I promise you! They're having a welcome party for him to thank him for coming and making this school alive again! And he agreed to come just as long as they won't touch him or flirt with him. I heard it, along with Zara." Liv clung onto her arm while tugging it and using her puppy eyes to make Layla believe her.

"Well, I'm sure his purpose of coming will be something that isn't right. If he comes to that party of theirs." Layla told her while shrugging.

"Guess you're right...but he will come. Wait here! I'll call Zara!" Liv ran off, leaving Layla alone in the corridor.

Layla didn't want to do anything but their homeroom teacher suggested that they have to help Sir Kingsley to find books in the library because the man is busy, has lots to do. No one wanted to help him because they're intimidated by him and Liv and Layla have no choice but to help him since Kim is sick and couldn't attend school today. The student council members have better to do than to help that man so they were left with no choice.

They were slacking off and running late but they don't care because they needed to drop off the books in his office before the last bell rings, before they go home. They thought that they could find the books fast enough because they know where the books are.

Layla was being irresponsible, surprisingly, because she never does. She just sighed and looked at her watch while frowning.

"Maybe it isn't the best that I agreed to slack off today..." She muttered to herself.

Liv came back with Zara and she smiled at them. "Better make this quick."

They nodded and walked side by side with her. "It's true, Layla. I heard it too. He agreed and told them to not touch him but he'll be there. I don't know why but he agreed. You can believe me, you know I don't like lying." Zara told her and Layla frowns but nodded.

"Fine. I believe you but like I told Liv, he's going to do something wrong."

Liv pouted but chuckled. "How dare you. You did not believe me."

"Sorry, Liv but your rumors are mostly wrong. I cannot let myself be fooled by those rumors again." Layla hugged her tightly and Liv grunted while chuckling.

"Yeah, I know. But at least now you believe me! Zara, thank you!"

Zara nodded and smiled at them. "Yeah, of course. Well, now that we're done with that! I have to go back to my piano lessons! Bye!" Zara gave them a peck of kisses on their cheeks before winking at them and running away from them with her long legs.

Liv suddenly turns red and Layla laughed. "That girl. Same old, Zara."

They parted away and continued talking on their way towards the library. There are two libraries in here; one is where most young students go and that library is filled with storybooks and such while the other one is bigger and beautiful, it has lots of books and has a wider section of books with different genres, more matured and where high school students go. Both have computers section but the latter one is more high tech and they even have tablets in the classy lounge area. That's where they're headed.

When they got there, they stopped talking and greeted the old woman who is in charge of this library. She isn't scary but she's annoying because of how grumpy she is and how she is easily irritated but Layla likes her because she knows how to properly handle the library to make it peaceful and calm so teachers and students can read and study quietly and properly.

The lady smiles when she saw Layla and nodded at her, making Liv roll her eyes. "Layla. I'm sorry for Arthur, he is a great man." The old lady whispered.

Layla winced like a hurt child because of that name being mentioned. She has been avoiding any topic that includes him because it reminds her of how much emotions she's keeping inside her. But she smiled at her and nodded.

"Uh, we need to go. Thank you." She avoided the topic without being too rude and was supposed to go on their way while pulling Liv next to her because she knows how much Liv hated that old lady and she didn't want either of them to feel uncomfortable.

"Wait, " The lady stopped her and goes back to her serious face with a big frown. "There's this handsome man, your new teacher named Sir Kingsley, waiting for you in the teacher's area. He has been waiting for you for too long, go there and apologize to him."

Liv and Layla looked at each other with widened eyes. They didn't need to ask how long he's been there because they know how much time they wasted.

"O-okay. Thank you." Then they scurried away, walking fast but not exactly running to avoid disturbing anybody.

"Layla, I'll let myself fall for it. It's my fault, I begged you and I dragged you everywhere. I'm sorry, Layla." Liv knew how it will look like, it will look like Layla is irresponsible. She didn't want Layla to be blamed for everything. She knows how much Layla's been dealing with.

Layla smiled at her kindness but disagreed. "It's only right that I am to blame because I am the class president and I let myself be reckless. But we're both at fault here so he'll most likely scold the both of us but he'll scold me more. Don't worry about it. I can handle it."

But the truth is, Layla was terrified at the thought of seeing him again because of how she made her feel every time. She hates him and hates seeing him.

"Layla, I'm really sorry. But why do think he's here? I thought he's busy and we're the ones who will find the books then bring it to him?" Liv questioned while borrowing her brows.

"I don't know." Layla answers but she can think of many reasons why he's here. Her lips quivered and she quickly bites it hard so she can stop it.

Liv noticed but didn't ask if she's okay because she knows she's not so she just side-hugged her and helped her calm down by rubbing her arm. Layla smiles at her and thanked her.
