Prologue

Ren was walking down the street, coming back from his job, as he noticed a crowd formed in a semi circle around something he couldn't spot. Making his way over, through the busy streets full of traffic overflowing from rush hour, he could hear many muttering, "Someones already probably called the police, this will be fine, i hope", and, "How could one do something like that?". Ren could hear sirens approaching the area, seemingly only minutes away. Pushing his way through the crowded side walk, he was greeted with a sight you did not see often. There was a man, maybe 30 or so, with many tattoo's tattered all over his body, and pupils dilated as if to shout that he was under the influence of some kind of narcotic or alcoholic substance. The man had someone, a child held tight to his body, with a gun pointed to said childs head, shouting, "Nobody move or i shoot!", while waving the gun around as if in attempt to scare away any courageous onlookers who wanted to be a hero.

Ren was certainly not having a great day today, not in the slightest. Not only had he been promoted, but he was now in charge of more responsibilities thrust upon him by his higherups. Ever since he was a kid, even before he could remember, he was stuck in a loop he couldn't find a way out of. As a 7 year old recently parentless child, he had little to no control over what he could and could not choose to do, as the legal system chose everything for him as they were his "legal" guardians. After entering school, he found it be even more confining, with the teacher, who he considers now was just a higher positioned figure much like his boss, ordered him and all the other kids to do tasks 8 hours a day, and extra work at home. What Ren could not fathom was how all the other kids didn't even care about being forced to do menial tasks. At age 14, now 7 years older than before, he had an epiphany, a breakthrough of sorts. The only way to get out of being controlled was to stop listening all together.

"REN!, how many times have i had to ask you to listen to me today, this is the 13th time i have been forced to ask you to sit down and do your work", Shouted Ren's 8th grade teacher, 3 weeks after his discovery. Ren discovering that not obeying anyone allowed him a solace from being controlled decided that from that point forward he would do whatever he could to keep his freedom, even if it was not morally or socially acceptable.

20 years old now, he still couldn't escape the loop, even after he thought he found a way out. After disobeying his teachers the entire time he was going through the schooling system, his academic scores were not the highest, resulting in him not getting a way to any college. Even though he hated schooling and how it controlled him, he knew that the only way to become free in this day and age was to get a college diploma, and not being able to do so made his life so much worse today. Not having a good record or good academic ability, all he could get for a job was a simple desk job working 11 hours to be able to pay for rent and food. After getting out of school, he had tried to escape, thinking his torment was over, but he was ever so wrong. On that stormy night, he had almost cried after realizing what his future was. The only way to survive was to work, and unlike school where there was only one controlling figure, a business had many, branching through the chain of command. Getting promoted was never a good thing if all it grants you are more responsibilities and more controlling figures.

Thinking about this, Ren approached the man, who at this point has started to panic, becoming more and more frantic every second he heard the sirens approaching. He shouted, "If those cops come at me, im shooting the kid! Either get them out of here, or he gets it", gesturing at the kid. Ren was also starting to shake, but it was not with panic but because of anger. Even if he had to suffer getting controlled, he would not allow innocent children who haven't tried to control others or harm others to be harmed, especially if he could help it. Seeing Ren approach, the man pointed his gun towards Ren, it's metallic surface reflecting the moon onto the pavement below it. He shouted, "Hey, what are you doing! I will shoot you", as Ren continued to approach. Ren, in a bout of anger, slapped at the gun, knocking it to the floor, and rushed the man like a charging bull. The others in the crowd ushered the kid to safety as Ren took down the man to the pavement, rain splattering against him. The cops were mere seconds away from the scene, and hearing one shout to put your hands up, he turned around. *Boom* was all he heard before he slowly sank to the ground. When he had turned around to face the officer, he had neglected to realize that the man he had taken down had grabbed his fallen gun, and shot him right through the head. Ren's conciousness was starting to slip, only flickering in when hearing the blearing sirens of what he made out to be an ambulance. He could feel himself being rushed somewhere."He's still alive we ca..... The criminal was apprehended last Tuesday by......", he had momentary grasps of the situation around him, knowing he was somehow rushed to the hospital after being shot. He smiled to himself after hearing the criminal was taken down. " Maybe I can go to sleep", he thought, as he slowly drifted away, leaving Earth behind and going somewhere past the fabrics of space itself.

" Ren will be remembered as a hero by all among us. We will pray for you, wherever you may have gone", was broadcast out among many newstations in the area. Even if he didn't make an impact in his living days, his last breath signified a massive change in how safety was conducted. Many cities around the area made faster response policies, hoping that one day they could prevent a tragedy from happening when they were so close to stopping it.

Ren was drifting, he knew that, and he felt free, no one to tell him to do anything. Going through a void of some sorts, he lazed around, feeling the warmth of something entering him constantly. Looking at his arms he noticed they were not actually there, but instead there were a pair of ethereal tendrils floating from a central ball, all colored a greyish white. In the corner of his soul ball, he could see a tiny part turn orange, and Ren thought, "Maybe that was that warm stuff i felt".

After countless years, Ren was still not bored or even discouraged being there, and was still positive in his mindset. A being appeared in front of him, making Ren gasp in suprise. "Is this another soul", he though," I should go introduce myself, its been so long since i've seen anyone at all". Floating over to the other glowing mass that looked nothing like him, with it being several times larger, and having actual limbs, although they still glowed with that ethereal glow that Ren had as well. The other being seemed shocked as well, with its eyes trained on the orange energy that had now taken about a quarter of Rens soul color. " You, come with me", it commanded, still concerned about the warming energy that seemed to wriggle around Rens soul. Ren did not move an inch, glancing at the figure with a look that almost screamed "and why should i?". The came up to Ren and put a hand on him. Orange energy much like the one inside Ren swirled around his palm, pushing Ren at speeds that seemed impossible to follow through the void untill something was visible. A line of souls, all varying shades of white and grey were lined up infront of a gigantic office building. Some seemed shocked and scared, while others seemed completely content, most likely having passed on peacfully in the hands of others due to old age. The being that had pushed him all the way here guided him through the line and into the building itself. The various workers there all started muttering incoherently when they noticed Ren, which much to his chagrin, he could not understand, it almost seemed like another language.

They arrived in front of an office that was many times larger than the rest, with a plaque on the door that was still quite unreadable to Ren. Knocking three times, the entity that took him here stood back respectfully, awaiting whatever would come out of the door in front of him. A seemingly normal old man appeared out of the door, but a person in a realm full of souls did not feel ordinary at all to Ren. This old man gestured for Ren to enter, while making the entity who he did not get the name if leave. " Now this is problematic", the old man said, "You've accumulated too much karmic energy". Ren asked,"What do you mean? All i have been doing is drifting throughout the void". The old man sighed, not very happy with his answer, "You see, that is the problem. Here in the void, we help souls go their next destination wherever it may be, and the way we get them here is by their dissatisfactions. Whenever a soul experiences a negative or positive emotion here, we can sense it and send a soul collector to bring it here. Usually a soul drifting alone will experience loneliness and we will sense that emotion and bring them here. You however have been not expressing one emotion, and that lead to you collecting the karmic energy gathered in the void directly into your soul by being here for so long. With karmic energy infused in your soul, you cannot reincarnate without special help, and the only one who can help you is me". The old man was not very happy at all, he had finally settled the matter with that other soul after 20 years and now this problem appears at his door. He stretched, preparing for his grueling work, already annoyed as he knew how long this would take. Ren was sitting there, digesting the information giving to him by the old man, when the old mans hand entered his soul and started pulling on the orange pulsating energy.

Ren didn't know how long it had been since the old man had started pulling out the energy, but he was certainly not happy about it. Being held against his will for years went against his very core principles. It happened very slowly, but when the old mans hand started to move again he could feel that this karmic energy ordeal had ended. The old man held the mass of orange energy in his hand, contemplating what to do with it, when he had a great idea. "Ren, since it took 27 whole years for me to get this annoying stuff out of you, im going to give you a punishment", the old man said, cackling evilly as his expression started to vary, almost seeming like he was insane. He pulled out a wheel, and said, "You see, after you spin this wheel, you usually gain a wish and a place to reincarnate, but because you have been such a struggle for me, i am taking away your wish, and giving you my own "reward". It usually takes about 50 years to make it to the place you are reincarnating to, but with this energy, it will take you 15 minutes". The old mans expression was so distorted at this point he looked like a comic book villain. " This will be the wildest ride of your life Ren!", he shouted as he spun the wheel, only glancing at the result. "Hmm, how ironic that other soul 47 years ago also got the Marvel world, how interesting", The old man thought as he started forming the energy in his hand into a rocket. He strapped it onto Ren and sent him flying off, traveling past what anyone could think was actually possible.

Ren looked infront of him, noticing something was ahead of him and he was approaching fast. Infront of him were two souls, one large one and a smaller one floating to the side of it, almost looking like it was serving the bigger soul. The big soul couldn't even react before it was smashed into so hard it lost conciousness. Ren after smashing into the soul had also lost conciousness, unaware of the changes happening to him. Ren's soul that had been nourished in the void so long devoured the other soul, with the smaller one simply observing the progress. The rocket on him did not stop for anyone however as it continued to speed him forward, and if you were to look carefully, you would see a tiny soul accompanying it the whole way there.
