Claire was still angry at the audacity of that woman long after they left Kimball's. She couldn't even imagine how Alex was feeling about what happened.

"Are you okay?" she asked about ten minutes into their drive home.

"No," he replied curtly. "I'm not. She's so much worse than I thought she would be. But at least I got one question answered. Apparently I wasn't found on the side of a road. The Agency is even more full of crap than I thought."

Her heart ached for him. What Talana did was still horribly selfish but she had intended for him to end up with a normal family. It was nothing more than bad luck that someone from the Agency happened to come across him first.

"I'm so sorry, Alex," Claire said with a heavy heart as she reached out to touch his thigh since he was driving and his hands weren't free.
