There seemed to be a humanoid figure on the bed, and a white bed sheet was pulled over him, making it impossible to make out his face.

Countless tubes were connected to the bed, or to be precise, these tubes were all connected to the humanoid. There were several strange machines around, all of them powered on and in constant use.
