The reason I didn't freeze is because I was in a separate room, and the range of the [ice breath] wasn't large enough. Yep, it's as simple as that. I got lucky.
Now then, as much as I want to kill everyone here right now, there is something more important to do.
My skin is starting to freeze, and I think I might just end up like these lot if I don't do something about that.
Having made a hard decision, I put my dagger away and headed towards the frog.
Everyone has a certain degree of physical and magical resistance, although that is not shown in the basic status plate.
There are a few ways to increase your resistance, and the easiest one by far is using armor for physical resistance and cloaks for magical resistance.
None of those warriors have cloaks, so that won't do me any good, and that leaves me with one option.
I need to forcefully raise my magic resistance stat.
The first one is the simplest, which is to take magic damage for an extensive period of time, but the tier of [ice breath] is too high, so I will definitely freeze to death before my resistance get high enough.
You can also use buffs, but I don't have any buffs or skills with that effect, and that leaves me with one option.
I have to eat the flesh or drink the blood of someone, who's magic resistance is substantially higher than mine, and there is only one creature which could work right now.
It's the frog.
I wanted to avoid doing this, but it looks like I have no choice in the matter.
~~~
I took a cup of the frog's blue blood, and also cut a few pieces of it's flesh. Alright, now, as long as I don't throw up, this should help.
I took a big gulp of the liquid, and the taste was..
"Huh?" I exclaimed in surprise.
It's blood has the taste and texture of slushie, but instead of the usual sweet fruit flavor, this one was plain. With a bit of sugar and some sort of flavor, like blueberry, if that's a thing in this world, i can drink this all day. And what's better, it even makes me stronger!
"Haha, this is just too good to be true!" I started gulping down the tasteless slushie, and a thought crossed my mind.
"It's basically slightly melted, crushed ice. I just didn't really think about it because it had all the sweet flavor when I was eating it back on earth.
Hmm, but there is still the issue of eating the frog's flesh. Oh well, after such a pleasant surprise, I'm not expecting very much.
"You've got to be kidding me.." This time, I was even more surprised then before.
"This is just minty bubblegum! How do people raid the bosses and never even try to eat it? They're such fools, all of them! Haha!" I started hysterically laughing and swallowing more and more of both - flesh and blood.
All my senses started going a bit numb, and I was getting more and more hungry. But it want the usual hunger that I felt when I hadn't had four for a while. No, this time it felt like I had a black hole inside my stomach.
"Haha, it's too good! I can't stop! I don't want to stop!" I've lost control of my body, and a feeling of insanity started creeping in on my brain.
It's been a while now. An hour. Maybe two hours. All I've been doing is eating. I started to forget everything around me, and the only thing I could think of was to eat more. I want more! More!!
"Shit, what was I just doing?!" I started coming back to my senses, thanks to the level up of this ability, but I'm still just barely managing to keep my brain to to function properly.
"Aghh!!" I hit my head against the wall as hard as I could, in hope that some pain will help, and surely enough, the effect was noticeable.
I did the same again, and felt some warm liquid pouring down my forehead and and over my right.
After that notification, I finally felt the effect of the blood and flesh wear off, and I was finally able think properly again.
~~~
"It makes sense now, the reason why nobody eats or drinks the boss's flesh and blood is because makes you lose sanity, unless you have a skill like me." I made a conclusion that luck had saved me once again.
I do feel a lot warmer, now that I think about it. My magic resistance must have gone up by an absolute ton, thanks to devouring the boss for a few hours straight.
"Well, as the good old saying goes, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Whoever came up with that quote, you're damn right.
Well, the killing has been delayed by long enough, so it's finally time to kill the raiders. I don't feel the same excitement I felt previously, but I still need the experience, so I can't just leave those guys on the ground.
So, there are a total of 17 people, and all the humans I've met so far have 100 X the level difference, in terms of experience. I will finally get to level up for the first time, and that will also give me some answers that I've been dying to know about.
What can I say, I'm excited.
The massacre was delayed, but something interesting took place instead.
Anyways, I’m not gonna delay it anymore, so look forward to the next chapter.
See ya~~~
