The mother then immediately stood up from her comfortable seat. Sweats were dripping from her face. She felt weak and terrified. How couldn't she? 

She left her own child just to be with the abusive father. She regretted it at first each time she remembers their sweet time together, but as time passed, she realized that she was just a terrible mother. She then compensated for this terribleness of hers and projected her guilt onto her second child, raising him filled with love.

But every time she saw the bright smile of that child she would remember her first. She truly loved him but she too was suffering under the father of that child. Eventually, she fell and slowly sacrificed her lovely child whom his whole life was supported by his mother just to create a new relationship with the father and stop his abuse.
