Maxwell took note of the changes Aliyah mentioned, he turned his gaze to those present in the room.
The older officials had passed down power few years ago saying it was time they stepped down.
Bloodborn pack has been doing really good the only problem was, they were no longer the best in weapons and war, although they still remained skilled in fighting the crown was now contendable, strength and skill in combat was not enough.
Over the years other packs had found a way to catch up to their inventions, the one thing the pack dreaded the most was the next Shadow pull, they could not afford to lose.
It was at a time like this Elijah was needed the most. Now the pack understood why Alpha Kalista was always invested in people no matter their rank pushing them to make use of their mental poweress.
He knew they needed to stay ahead and undermining others would serve as a barrier to tapping into what they had to offer.
Maxwell recollected the last time he saw Elijah was in the hospital. He had woken up to see someone with a mask approaching him syringe in his hand. Closing his eyes he waited for death.
Just then he heard a thud, Elijah stood brick in hand glaring at the now unconscious culprit. Removing his mask they found out it was a warrior!
"let's alert the pack" he muttered slowly.
"not now after I leave you can press the alert button at the edge of your bed, "
Maxwell noticed he looked battered, a bag hung over his shoulders "where are you going?.
"I'm leaving the pack, going to the human side. Not sure what my plans are but I'm certain I want to leave. Your lucky I came to say goodbye to my sister before leaving you would have gone into another coma of no return."
Maxwell managed a small smile, "well I owe you one don't I?"
"you can repay me by telling me if you remember anything from when you were kidnapped "
A crease appeared on Maxwell's forehead as he tried to remember "not much to be sincere, I was mostly sedated during my capture ...but I do remember hearing someone say... the cornerstone becomes the ...no, the stone the builders rejected becomes the cornerstone "
Elijah frowned what did that mean?
"what about my parents?" he asked,
Elijah ran his fingers through his hair. "I don't have time to explain, but I'm glad you are awa-" he was interrupted by Maxwell's panicked look his pale face even paler like he was seeing a ghost.
"behind you"
he turned just as the warrior who had gotten up stabbing him on the arm with the syringe meant for Maxwell an evil smile on his face.
Time stood still as Elijah waited for the worst to happen.
The smile was wiped off the warriors face when he saw whatever substance he injected had no effect.
Elijah swiftly grabbed a hold of his head and twisted it past 180 degrees killing him instantly, he was lenient the first time but not again.
He picked up the syringe ...silver?..how in hell did he get so lucky it seemed nothing affected him anymore.
Maxwell shook his head doing away with his recollections he had a meeting concentrate on.

Aliyah noticed Maxwell did not make a move to leave, the meeting was over "can I help you Mr?"
"yes Miss, I would like to confirm if you are still gonna visit this weekend you know how Keshia and Lily gets when you don't come by "
Aliyah smiled Keshia had ended up being Maxwell's mate, he had known for a long time but wanted to surprise her on her 18th birthday.
She was glad he made it back after being kidnapped she could not imagine Keshia being without a mate, besides it was perfect timing helping him heal after his father's execution.
Plus, Kate his mum was much more happier now having Keshia and her grandchild to fawn over.
Thinking about it made her heart bleed when she remembered what she gave up to ensure her post as the Alpha.
she had not had confidence that they could work things out and find a way to coexist Knowing it would be a long and tedious fight. Who would accept an omega as a leader?
There had been a chance although it was almost insignificant.
The law did not allow for the opposition of the Moon Goddess and she obviously made the bond between her and Elijah however, getting the werewolf community to recognize that fact would take forever.
Time which she did not have . The Elders had succeeded in convincing her.
Now, she had the Alpha post but her days were filled with pain and regret.
Still smiling she answered "sure I'll make sure I'm there especially now she is pregnant with her second child she would be on your neck, believe me, I know".
Maxwell gave her a hug turning to leave "hey Max please do tell Beta Bricks to come see me I forgot to relay a message "
"you can just mind link him" Maxwell pointed out
"I know, but I like seeing you suffer"

Elijah looked around his apartment, the living room was a mess, Inviting his friends over was always bittersweet.
He got to work as he could not stand a dirty environment. The vibration from his pocket interrupted him. Taking out his phone he swiped his hand across the screen answering the call.
"hey mum"
"I told you to call me today"
"mum I just called you two days ago", he made sure to keep in touch with his mother all these years calling her as often as he could when he got back from his assignments.
"well-just a minute son,"
"sure"
he heard a voice in the background it sounded familiar, he concentrated hearing it clearer now, that was Aliyah. when did she become pals with his mother to have her relay a message in person? His anger was forgotten as he heard his mother sobs
"mum! mum! what's wrong"
"Elijah, Sarah just woke up ". she said as tears of joy rolled down her cheeks.
Transferring his cell to the other hand Elijah wiped his palm on his Jeans when did it getall sweaty? various emotions swept through him joy, sadness, confusion...there was one thing left to say.
" mum, I'll be home this weekend"
