If it was before, his rejection would have stung her. She might have started wondering what she was thinking when she offered him such an absurd proposal. 

She would have had second thoughts and those would have led to other hasty decisions like ignoring him or trying to deny how she felt.

But his rejection now... 

Diana laughed, ''He is so silly...'' she squatted on the floor and picked up a Chanel bag, ''To think that he would reject me after kissing me like he was starving.'' 

Her smugness faded the moment she saw what was inside the bag.
