章節 95: Headlines!

By the end of the week, headlines regarding Chu Entertainment plummeting to bankruptcy erupted all over the city. Director Chu's sullen look and haggard appearance was released by reporters who caught him collecting soda cans for recycling. After digging through public garbage cans for recyclable products, he took newspapers and took a nap at the park.

He was caught stealing an old granny's cart of cans and was beaten by civilians on the spot. In the middle of eating breakfast, Lily let breaking news play on her phone while she spread jam on her french toast.

"Damn, they work fast! Tsk, tsk, tsk, people don't learn even when they become worse than bums. How could he snatch an elder's belongings like a thief? But then again, if he gets arrested, he will get free shelter and food. Not too bad of a choice for him, unless he has enemies behind bars." She shook her head as she poured hot water into her mug.

After mixing the content in her cup, she left her milk tea aside to cool down. Clicking into the weather app, she saw rainstorm warnings and decided to give Lin Que a reminder. Within the first ring, he picked up the call. Perhaps because it was morning, his voice sounded extra alluring to her ears.

Her ears wiggled a little when she heard his deep, hoarse voice. "Good morning, Lily."

"Morning, darling!" She cheerfully chirped like a musical melody to his ears. It was a pleasure to hear his girlfriend's wakeup call before work.

"Mm, have you eaten breakfast yet?" He asked as he fixed his tie.

"Eating it right now. I checked the weather channel and it showed rainstorm warnings. I called to remind you to bring an umbrella to work." She quickly hopped into the main topic of her call since it was rush hour and she didn't want him to be late for work.

Chuckling at her caring nature, "Thanks. I'll bring my umbrella to work. You should finish your breakfast and get to work too."

For some reason she nodded her head as if he was in front of her. She scratched her head and responded, "Mmm, I'm going to meet my parents later. I have time to eat my breakfast, but what about you? It's still early for me, but you are probably dressing for work right?"

"I'm starting to think my girlfriend has a spy cam at my house. How is she such a good guesser? I'm tying my tie right now while talking to you. As for breakfast, I'll grab something on my way to work. No worries, I won't skip my meal." He smiled into the mirror as if he could see her eyes throwing arrows at him.

"Oh? If I had a spy cam, then it'll be in the bathroom. You know how much your girlfriend enjoys the six pack views. Those muscles and ohhhhh the hardness of your chest..." She purposely teased his physical traits from her previous hugging experience with him. Her hands had explored enough while he wasn't paying attention to know what's hiding under those clothes.

"Hahaha, if you want, I can show it off any day. I wouldn't mind if it is you." Throwing the joke back at her as a tease, he grinned and grabbed his suit jacket. After taking out his air pods, he stuffed it into his ears to continue speaking to her.

He grabbed his phone, keys, wallet and umbrella before heading out for work. When she heard the sound of his car engine running, she quickly ended the call. Since the weather is slippery for wheel vehicles to travel, she didn't want him to have any types of distraction.

"Keep your eyes on the road. You haven't bought insurance under my name, and I don't want to be a widow though we're not married yet. Muah. Muah." She giggled at her own joke once again as her cheeks blushed. Holding her hands on her warm mug, a sweet smile appeared on her face as she thought of how close she interacted with him.

At first, she wasn't sure how he would react to her odd nicknames for him. Then, she became more and more comfortable to show her childish side. Sometimes, she would switch around different nicknames and he would easily catch up to her pace. Like milk and bread being a good combination for meals, the sweetness flowed from deep inside to her lips.

After hanging up, she quickly finished her breakfast and milk tea. Giving her parents a morning hug, she informed them about her early office schedule. It was inevitable since a few proposals required her signature and review before proceeding to the next step. By the time she finished washing her dishes, her parents had just begun eating.

She kissed them on the cheeks before leaving the house. Since she made a promise to come back by 1 P.M. to take them shopping, she felt energetic to face the annoying business terms in her office.

Meanwhile, her parents sat across from each other with Ginny on the side. They stared at the french toasts and prepared toppings on the table. Lily knew their habits and had arranged everything before she left. The coffee was ready and toasts was warm. Meal utensils were lined up in front of them like five-star hotel service.

Toby smiled, "Ah, I'll get the coffee. Ginny, Lily left a note saying your milk tea is in the kitchen too. Do you want me to get it for you?"

Ginny got up from her seat and started gathering the plates for breakfast. "Sure. I'll get the plates and homemade jams. Do you and uncle want some fruits? I'll slice them for you guys."

Lawrence didn't want to sit around alone, so he also got up from his seat and helped with cutting up fruits. "This reminds me of your high school days when she would wake up early to make us a simple breakfast. Compared to before, her french toasts are much better now. I still remember how burnt the toasts used to be."

Toby laughed, "I remember too. I had to clean after her mess and fight her almost every other morning to cook breakfast."

Ginny nodded, "I remember her stuffing toast into my mouth because we were both late and needed to eat breakfast. Still don't know how she needed up eating the burned portion. It was fun, though."

As the family settled down to have their breakfast, they continued talking about the good old days. At the same time, Lily sneezed several times and thought she was coming down with a cold.
