章節 78: Rollercoaster on Full Speed 1
Hearing his teasing words, Ginny's leg bent backwards to its previous step. She looked up at Alan who had just indirectly flirted with her. Though his voice sounded playful, she couldn't help but trap his words in her mind.
Repeatedly, she replayed his voice and words in her mind. 'Oh? So, I should hold your hand like this from now on.' The more her thoughts lingered on his words, the warmer her cheeks became. If he wasn't standing in front of her, she would probably squeal.
"What's wrong?" Alan paused his step and turned to his side when he noticed her divert attention. She was looking at him as if she was anticipating something else from him.
"T..That, uh...What did you mean just now?" Nervously tucking strands of her hair to her ears, she tried hiding her shyness. Thinking back to what he had just said, a smirk formed on his lips. He understood her meaning and knew what was troubling her mind.
Once again, he saw an adorable side of hers. Even though he had wanted to explain himself, the devil in his head suggested for him to continue teasing her. Chuckling lightly, he leaned forward and held her other hand in his. Now, they were facing each other with both of their hands interlocked.
His hoarse voice enchanted her ear buds, making her heart dance the tango excitedly. As if his words were lyrics or tunes to a melody, her heart raced to its rhythm. She heard his words clearly, "What do you think I mean?"
His sudden closeness boiled her cheeks red as she stuttered on her response. "I..I..I don't know."
Her hands tightened its grip around his fingers, but she had no intention of pushing him away. Maintaining the small gap between them, he once again whispered. "What do you want it to mean?"
As if his words were spells from summoning the truth lord, she felt her heart spellbind by him. She lowered her head while blinking rapidly a few times to avoid his gaze. Smiling at her pure, innocent reaction, he decided he had filled up his tease bar for today.
He let go of her hand and straightened his back. When he turned around to continue walking, he felt a tug on his sleeves. His attention fixated on their interlocked hand and then her other hand where her fingers pulled his sleeve.
"Hmm?" He wasn't sure if he had gone overboard with his words just now. Somehow those words were spat out naturally.
"I..Uh..." She sucked on her bottom lips as she took deep breaths. At the same time, Alan went back to his original position and waited patiently for her to speak. He could tell she had things she wanted to say. If his actions offended her earlier, he was prepared to apologize to her.
At the moment, Ginny shut her eyes and remembered what Lily had advised her. During one of their conversations, Lily had mentioned about Ginny holding back on her feelings. She told Ginny that not everyone could read her mind like she could. Therefore, if she confirms her feelings for Alan, she should tell him or he wouldn't know her thoughts.
"What if I say I wanted you to continue holding my hands?" She looked at him courageously while pressing her lips together after saying these words.
"..huh?" Surprised by her words, he didn't instantly process what he had just heard.
"I'm pretty slow when it comes to flirting lines and romantic hints. I'm not sure if you like me, but I think I like you. If you mean what you said earlier, then my response to you is that you can hold my hand from now on." This was the first time she felt challenged to speak her mind. She knew she had some sort of feelings for him and wanted to be clear of her intentions.
Since she had zero experience, she didn't want to feel misled in the future. She would rather tell him straightforwardly and get rejected if he was just joking around.
Licking his lips, he blinked and nervously followed her lip pressing motion. "Ginny, you..do you mean you like me and want to date me?"
She shook her head sideways slowly at first. Then, her head suddenly started to nod. "I..Yes? No? I like you, but I want to know if you like me. If we have mutual interest in each other, then we could try dating..." Her voice trailed off as she felt someone stuffing her brain in a canon and firing it off to a land far far away.
Alan remained quiet as he tried calming down his emotions. He never knew his teasing could get him this far! Hearing no response on his end, she started talking again to diminish the awkwardness.
"I..I've never dated anyone before. More like, I never thought dating as an essential part of my life. I never bothered looking for someone to be with nor was I interested in being someone's girlfriend. These were my original thoughts that has recently changed because of you. Even though we've only met a handful of times, my heart wouldn't stop stomping like a wild disco party filled with drunkards."
"This is probably not the best way to describe how I truly feel, but I can't find better words. I don't know how to say mushy words and can be taking this wrongly. Uhm, if this is making you feel awkward or difficult to reply to, then you can forget what I just said.."
He opened his mouth the next second and made sure she was facing him when he said it. "Three months."
Blinking confusingly at him, she tilted her head with a huge question mark on top of her head. "W.what?"
His heart was pounding like he was on an infinite loop rollercoaster ride. If he wasn't in public, he probably would have screamed out in joy and hopped around on his bed already.
"When people get into a relationship, the first three months is considered the probation period. I do like you and want to go out with you, but this is the first time you're in a relationship. If you feel in any way within or after the three months that you no longer want to date me, then you can tell me."
Of course, he would never let her talk about breaking up after they become an official couple. He swore he wouldn't do anything she didn't like and would do anything to keep her happy. If she does decide later on about her losing interest in him, then he will let her go.
Right now, he was only glad to hear her confession. This was something he hadn't expected at all!
