Mr Lean Miller was the second after Stacey, to find out that Samantha Wilson was the one who was possibly pregnant for his son.
When he found out that she was the daughter of the late Chad Wilson, who happened to be the second largest shareholder in St Clara hospital, he was thrilled and made plans of his own.
He himself held twenty percent, while his wife held thirty percent and together they had fifty percent shares in the hospital.
Chad Wilson had held a solid thirty percent and upon his death, had left ten percent to his wife and ten percent to each of his children. When his wife died, she left the ten to Samantha which means, Samantha like him had twenty percent shares.
Her brother had disappeared earlier, the story he knew too well, and that meant she was temporarily the sole owner of thirty percent shares in St Clara's hospital.
*********
Samantha was called two weeks later by Lean Miller's secretary and told to attend a dinner, she was told it was an official dinner to meet, converse and know new shareholders of the hospital.
She didn't want to attend at first but Lisa had convinced her and told her, she was her father and mother's estate beneficiary so it was her duty to take care of that which her parents worked hard for.
Clad in a royal blue, knee high, long sleeved pleated dress and black leather ballerina pumps, she left for Moonbeam hotel.
She hated such places, they always made her feel unworthy and now that she was busy knocking on the granite floor with her walking stick and Marcus holding her by the arm, she felt even smaller.
Lean Miller smirked and went to Samantha.
" Evening miss Wilson, it's nice to finally meet you."
" Same, I guess." Samantha said cheerfully.
" Am Lean Miller, am sorry to hear about your mother."
" Yeah, you and me both."
" Waiter."
Lean Miller called the man who had a try with different drinks on it.
" What would you like to have?"
" Do you have vodka?"
" They only have aperitifs and vodka is not an aperitif."
" What do they have then?" Samantha asked disappointed. Because lord knows she could have used a little vodka in a place like this.
Mr Miller got her a glass with white wine in it. Then he realised, she shouldn't take alcohol because, she might actually be pregnant for his son. He got a glass with water in it and poured in the white wine glass meant for Samantha to the amazement of the waiter. He gave Samantha the glass and literally shooed the waiter.
" Am sorry that I couldn't come to the funeral because I was a little held up here at the hospital."
" I see... not literal but you know what i mean." Samantha said before she took a sip from her glass.
Her expression changed when she tasted the water like substance. Mr Miller could see the dissatisfaction on her face but he was more amazed by her will to suppress her frustrations. Glass still in hand she called Marcus to help her to a balcony if the room had one.
" Please excuse me."she told me Miller.
Marcus looked around and saw the balcony on the north side of the hall, and helped her there.
She could feel a ton of eyes on her and murmurs from the crowd.
" Is that Chad Wilson's daughter?"
" Is she blind."
" That's the blind Millionaire."
" I heard, she tried to commit suicide."
Samantha heard all of them.
" Do they think, am deaf too?" Samantha asked Marcus.
" Never mind them miss, people will always talk about the person they envy the most."
" Who envies a blind woman Marcus?"
" It's not only envy, some people wished you would notice them and are envious of those who have a chance with you."
" You say the most useless things, it's no wonder people don't take you seriously."
Marcus let out a sad chuckle.
" yeah...I guess you are right."
