'Gods, I'm going to hate this, aren't I?'
{Probably not. You might struggle a bit, but that is it. We can't help you with this either since the Universe wants you to work for it.}
'You make it seem like the Universe has control over your actions.'
{They're the Universe, they are the equivalent of the landlord here. I do not want to get evicted, and neither do you.}
'Why would I not want to get evicted?'
{Cause everything you own gets confiscated. Whether it is corporeal or not.}
'Like my free will?'
{No, nothing like that. Your soul is confiscated, though.}
'That seems a bit harsh.'
{That's why only a few people have been 'evicted'. It takes a lot to anger the universe, and you are nowhere near strong enough to anger them.}
'Well that's good, I guess.'
{You have no idea.}
And then our conversation was cut there due to the movement of the first meteorite chunk.
The spike of ore flew towards me at a high speed, aiming directly for my head.
I wasn't fast enough to dodge it fully, so it punctured a hole in the side of my armor, leaving a cauterized gash along my side.
I gasped when the pain registered, not expecting the searing pain.
'That's definitely going to scar.'
{It'll look cool though.}
'That's not very useful right now though, is it?'
{Not in the slightest.}
I turned to look at the chunk that wounded me, only to see that it wedged itself in the ground and was pulling itself out of the ground quite quickly.
'Oh.'
The meteor piece fully pulled itself out of the ground and began pointing straight at me.
I stepped away from the area the shard was pointing at and waited for the meteorite to act.
It did not change the direction it was facing and just shot in the direction it was originally pointing.
I was relieved to see that the meteorite did not home in on me.
'Thank the Gods for making those rocks as dumb as they are.'
{You're welcome.}
I ignored the Gods.
I hurried in the direction the meteorite had launched itself, and I was able to arrive by the time it pulled itself out of the ground.
The rock turned to me and immediately launched itself towards me.
I was surprised to see it move immediately, but I was able to block it with my 'Light's Bane' by using the flat of the sword to deflect the point of the shard.
'That was extremely unexpected. I expected the shard to wait at least a second before launching at me.'
{While they are dumb, it doesn't mean it can't adapt.}
'Well isn't that great.'
I wasn't expecting a response, so I immediately headed toward the shard's location.
Due to the way I deflected it, the shard was not too far from my previous location, and I was able to reach it quickly.
It was still wedged in the ground when I reached it, so I immediately ran up and hit it with my sword, but the result was unexpected.
'No damage?!'
I was confused for a second, but remembered what I was fighting.
'It's a 'sentient' piece of ore. I need to use my pickaxe to kill it.'
Sadly, that second of confusion was enough to let the shard get itself free from the ground and attack me.
We were in close proximity, so the shard pierced my armor, but was unable to get any further.
I also noticed that the shard had somehow gotten stuck in my armor somehow.
I then remembered the hole it had punched in my armor a short while ago, and I began to feel for the hole that there was supposed to be in my armor.
The was no hole there.
My armor had clamped down on the shard and trapped it.
I grabbed my pickaxe and began to hit the shard constantly in hopes of damaging the shard even slightly.
It took three hits to remove the life in the shard, making it so that the piece of meteor became a simple piece of ore.
But it was still wedged in my armor, and I could only think of one solution.
'This is going to suck so bad.'
{What is?}
I did not respond, and only began my solution.
I used one of my hands to grab the burning hot chunk of ore in an attempt to pull it out of my armor.
There was no change, so I had to use both of my hands to pull the chunk out.
The chunk finally came loose and fell to the ground with a loud thud.
I immediately began to put it into my inventory, but as soon as I put it in, I heard a very loud crash and turned around.
'Was the crater always that large?'
{It was about half that size.}
That told me all I needed to know.
'Oh f***.'
And then I saw the meteorites.
It looked like a swarm of bees floating around, if the bees were ranging in size from a boulder to a small pebble.
And they were all jagged and flaming.
'OH F***!'
The shard I had fought earlier was on the smaller size spectrum, and that meant nothing good for me.
~I disabled your mirror since you need to run if you want to survive.~
'WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DO THAT?!'
~Because you need to find someone.~
'COULDN'T I FIND THEM AFTER I OUTRUN THESE METEORITES?'
~Nope. You asked me for a challenging event. You got one.~
'I JUST ASKED IF THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HARD?!'
~Jeeze, no need to yell so much. You practically called my 'challenges' easy. They are supposed to be harder than just 'easy'. So here's your first revised event. Have fun.~
{Told you that you f***** up.}
'HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT I OFFENDED THE F****** UNIVERSE?!'
{First off, stop screaming in your head. Second, you called their work unsatisfactory, since it was supposed to make you feel challenged. You did the equivalent of calling their work unsatisfactory. The universe is very proud of what they create.}
I calmed down slightly, but I was understanding what the Gods were saying.
'So I pretty much did the equivalent of insulting the pride of the Universe, and they got mad about my insult to their pride.'
{Exactly.}
'You are right. I am totally f*****.'
And so I ran for my life.
RIP Rick may.
I had no idea where I was going with this chapter, and it somehow ended like that.
I hope you enjoyed it!
