Before Gu Xin Ye could react, the man had already looked away and had instructed her to continue to wipe the bowl.
Gu Xin Ye heaved a sigh and wondered if anyone would come over to the stall early in the morning.
"Miss Gu."
Hearing that the man had called her name again, Gu Xin Ye looked up.
"Help me to look after the place for a while."
Gu Xin Ye blinked before she could reply. "Ah?" She stood up abruptly and looked at Qin Zhan anxiously. "Boss Qin, what do you mean? Why do you want me to look after this place?"
Qin Zhan rubbed at his temple as he listened to her questions. "I have a headache. I'm going out to get some medicine. I have taught you everything you know about preparing a bowl of noodles. If anyone comes, you can help me and prepare them."
Her mouth gaped open. Gu Xin Ye ran over and wanted to tug at his shirt. However, she stopped herself in time once she noticed that she was still holding a rag. "Boss Qin, you cannot do this to me. I only prepared the noodle once. The customers are going to file their complain!"
This man must be crazy. Who on earth would hand over their stall to a newbie just like that?
Amid her panic, Gu Xin Ye could not understand why Qin Zhan suddenly wanted her to look after the stall. The only thing she was worried about was that she was going to make a mistake.
Later, when Qin Zhan returned to the stall and see the mess she made, wouldn't she get scolded?
Qin Zhan shot her an annoyed look. His temple was throbbing from early morning and it only got worse as time passed by. At this time, Qin Zhan was secretly regretting his decision to drink too much.
"It will only take me five minutes," Qin Zhan spoke. "By the time I return, the customer probably would not show up yet." He saw the look on her face and heaved a long sigh. "How about this… if anyone comes in, you can always tell them to wait until I return."
Hearing his explanation, Gu Xin Ye began to calm down. "Five minutes."
Qin Zhan nodded. "Five minutes." He stretched his hand and patted her on her head before he turned around and leave.
Meanwhile, Gu Xin Ye stood at her place, wondering what just happened. She touched her head and thought that she was imagining things. When she snapped out of her thought, Qin Zhan had long gone.
Taking a deep breath. Gu Xin Ye decided not to think too much and continued to work on wiping the table.
When she was done. Gu Xin Ye heard some voices coming from the front of the stall. She went out and saw that three old men walked over with their fishing rods in their hands.
Gu Xin Ye immediately recognized them like those old men who she had seen the first day she came to the town.
Previously, she had heard that the old men would come over to the stall to eat beef noodles after they came down from their boats. At their age, all they do was hang around with each other and chat about this and that.
The grandpas walked over, put their fishing rods and equipment on the side, and took a seat.
"Qin Zhan, the usual." One of them shouted out.
Gu Xin Ye took a deep breath before she walked over. "Grandpas, Boss Qin isn't around at this moment. He went out to buy something and will be back soon." She flashed them a polite smile.
The three old men lifted their heads and were surprised when they found the girl stood in front of them. For a second, they started to look around as if they were making sure that they were at the right place.
It was Old Li who was the first to snap out of his thoughts. "Yo. I almost forgot. My wife had told me that our guest is working part-time at Old Chen's noodle stall. So you're that kid."
Gu Xin Ye stared at the grandpas and wondered who he was. After looking at the man's face for a while, Gu Xin Ye thought that he resembled the idiot at the B&B she was staying at.
The three old men looked at each other.
"You're that girl from last time," Old Qian spoke. "I did not expect that you would be working here as a part-timer."
Old Bei heaved a long sigh. "The youngsters had it hard. Everything is expensive. They have to work part-time to support themselves."
"She's just around my granddaughter's age," Old Qian said. He stared at Gu Xin Ye with longing as he thought of his granddaughter who had recently got married and gave birth to a son. Seeing some girl around his granddaughter's age, Old Qian found that he was missing his granddaughter a little bit.
Gu Xin Ye watched the three old men chatted around as if they had too much time to spare. Seeing the talkative grandpas, an idea came to her mind. Gu Xin Ye looked around and her eyes brightened when she found that Qin Zhan had not appeared yet.
These grandpas seemed very scary the first time she saw them helping Qin Zhan to chase away those managers. However, seeing them being friendly at this time, Gu Xin Ye found that they were quite easy to talk to.
They were very talkative. If she asked them a few questions about Qin Zhan, they would not mind spilling a few secrets about him, right? For example… how was Qin Zhan related to Old Chen? And what was he doing, working for the man's noodle stall?
"Grandpas, you might have to wait if you want Boss Qin to prepare noodles for you," Gu Xin Ye spoke.
Old Bei waved his hand. "It's fine. We don't mind waiting. At this age, we have a lot of time to waste."
Gu Xin Ye smiled. "Then, how about something to drink? Grandpas, you don't have to worry. I'm pretty good at making drinks."
Sorry for the long absence! ToT
