Henrietta "Please King Reima, listen to my plea before sending me away... I know I have done much to offend you, but I appeal to your kindness, selflessness, and dignity when I ask to be treated fairly." she says, only annoying Reima more further.
Reima sighs and waves his hand, "Whatever, let's just continue."
Asgore nods and does as such, "You have all been instructed as to how to act during this hearing, please do not force us into action by doing anything inpolite, Tankred Thyssen you have the floor." he says, taking his place next to Reima's throne, watching on dutifully.
Tankred nods, "I don't know why such an event has to be made to air a dispute I have with you King Reima, I'd thought we had similar minds, men of justice, dignity, and nobility... But as soon as the Vampire menace had been defeated in my lands, which I am still incredibly grateful for, you deem it just to take ownership over my lands... The lands that'd been passed down through my family for generations... The lands I've spent my life maintaining and improving... The lands every son and daughter of Kovir and Poviss was born on... You wish to take more than land from me, you wish to take everything I am.
So, as you've so graciously given us an audience, I'd like to extend my question to them also... I'll give an example of how grievous this attempt actually is... It is like I dropped my coin pouch and you immediately picking it up and claiming it's yours." he says, looking at the audience, using the coin pouch analogy to appeal to the peasants observing them. "Do you all think this is just? That your "Great" and "Powerful" King would take my humble territory after a cataclysm the likes of which the world has never before seen?" he ends, emphasizing that if they'd been in the same position, they'd take the same actions as he.
Asgore nods, "King Reima has the floor." he says after a couple moments of silence to confirm that Tankred was done talking.
Reima "I empathize with you Tankred, I too was once too weak to protect even those dear to me." he says, receiving an angry glare from said person. "But, with determination and courage I overcame all my obstacles... I'd not be exaggerating if I were to say I've saved this world far too many times for it to make sense. Had I been a selfish and greedy person, I'd have immediately claimed this world as mine for my efforts in safeguarding it. Not only that, but I and my wonderful companions have done more for the populace of the continent than any of you "Kings" had in their centuries of rule.
Technology is flourishing, the population is booming, for the first time in history everyone has access to healthcare, homeless and joblessness is almost nonexistent, monsters are no longer even a problem! Not only that, but my citizens are happier here than anywhere else in the world... Even the capital cities of other countries are no match to what I've built in an incredibly short time.
This is not to say that my achievements give me the right to your territory, just because my lands are faring well doesn't mean you are unfit to rule your own."
Tankred "-Then-" he interrupts but Reima continues.
Reima "But the situation isn't like that now, is it? You are not a King, a King requires lands and the acknowledgment of the people... Tell me, who in Kovir and Poviss are even thinking of your existence as they try to rebuild the lives you allowed to be destroyed by your negligence? I understand that the Vampire threat was an incredibly strong foe, but if you and your families had spent their centuries advancing and improving the lives of your citizens and your technology you would have most likely come out fine!"
Tankred growls, "That's a lie! What could I have done to stop them!?" he exclaims.
Truthfully, Reima didn't actually know whether his statement was true... Perhaps it was, if Mages and Scientist were given the time to research and advance magic and technology, they might've been able to withstand the Vampire attack, though, Reima suspected that if all the Elder's mustered their strength, none but a powerful being like himself could stand against it.
Reima was more trying to get on the side of his citizens than to actually explain why he had the right to rule Kovir and Poviss, no matter what, he was determined to take control over the continent now that all threats had been dealt with, but he needed the support of the people to actually achieve what he needed without becoming a tyrant.
Asgore steps forwards with a frown, "I allowed you to speak out of turn once, but if you continue then you will have to be removed. You will only speak when given the floor, do you understand?" he asks, his tall stature and indimidating aura causing the former king to audibly gulp is saliva.
Tankred "Y-yes..."
Asgore nods, "Then, Tankred Thyssen has the floor." he states, but Tankred doesn't speak for a couple of seconds due to him trying to recompose himself.
Tankred "The Vampire threat was, and still is incredibly strong. And while I doubt that we could have defended even with all the time in the world to prepare, it still does not give you the right to steal what's mine!" he says, raising his voice as he losing control over his emotions when he finishes.
...
Reima "I don't wish to offend you, but you are a greedy and selfish man." he says, causing Tankred to almost leap out of his seat at Reima, the only thing holding him back is the immediate execution he'd no-doubt experience.
Tankred's going to tank me thinks...
As always, if I missed anything please let me know.
