章節 7: Strange store, elemental coating and chakra creation
I woke up to an unfamiliar ceiling. Just laying there my mind was blank for a while. That's right, the transfer, the new world, Kestrel, many things flow past my mind as it jump starts. It seems I was more mentally exhausted then I thought. I'm not fully sure of the time in this world but just seeing the sun shining through the window lets me know that there are only a few hours till noon. Getting up I remember I slept in a lab coat, a weird experience but at least I'm not sleeping in my underwear out in the open at another women's house.
Usually, when I wake up I would be very drowsy till I've had my morning meal but today my drowsiness was simply swept away a long yawn. It must have something to do with my new mana and stamina. Just to make sure, I call on my status menu.

'Hmm?' My affinities increased while I was sleep. It must be because I fused my affinities with my stamina and mana. Speaking of which I tried sensing the two speckles from yesterday. Instead of just a familiar feeling, I'm feeling very connected with them, both of them are flowing around my body. Although I'm happy for some progress, still a little worried about the fusion process. If before it was just elemental power being drawn into my chakra now it's going to be a complete fusion and a duel fusion at that. Well, I've already come this far, even though I could just go about this the normal way, I just don't want too. I've already been forced to this world, I have no reason to fight against others for whatever reason. If I'm gonna die why not on my terms?
Although it is going to be weird walking around in a lab coat and no pants on. The quicker I go out to buy clothes the better. I didn't see Kestrel around so I directly leave the house while nibbling on the jerky in my inventory. I was quickly reminded of the maze outside and began to worry if I could even make it back without getting lost, in fact, I'm not even sure how to leave without getting lost. While I was at a loss, I just happened to stick my hands in the bottom pocket of the lab coat. I found a piece of paper, unfolding it turned out to be a map. Imaginary tears formed in my eyes. Following the map to a 'T', I finally made it out of the maze and back to the main road.
Not wanting to delay, I rush through the streets feeling very much like those flashers. All I needed was a pair of sunglasses to complete the look. Although I received strange looks from people in the surroundings, I was on a mission to a clothes store. While I was rushing past a dark alley, I spotted a building with a weird looking wolf hide armor at the storefront or at least I think its wolf hide. After all, It has a wolf shaped helmet. Seeing this place I decided to give it a try, walking to the open door. I once again peek inside with the vigilance of a meerkat and the place had no people, but that doesn't mean I dare to randomly touch anything. If I've learned anything yesterday it's that anyplace with unlocked doors must have some type of security system.
Inside the store was a random assortment of items from armors to weapons, clothes, accessories, books you name it this place was a dump. It looks like the owner just tossed everything onto a shelf and called it a day. Looking around begun to sorta figure this place out. Near each shelf of items, there was a price board. It looks like there's a board by each shelf. Does that mean everything on that shelf is worth what's on the board? There was even a pile near the door that said it had stuff worth 100 gold. Dumbfounded, I couldn't help giving the pile a second look but I still don't dare go near it. Looking into the shelves that were worth 50 silver or less I spot many different items. One particular shelf caught my attention, there was a full outfit on it. I'm not sure if it was armor or a set of clothes, it was more like a cosplay outfit if anything. It had a jacket, pants, shirt, a pair of shoes and strangely enough a pair of goggles. It was leaf green in color with a black thread running throughout the entire outfit. The more I look at this outfit the more I liked it. Looking at the price board it was 30 silver. Although I liked it I still looked around to check for something I felt looked good. I also check through the books. I did find one book that instantly grabbed my attention, it was called elemental cloaking. It said that using elements to cloak your body for defensive and offensive purposes. The only requirement was having an element permanently set for either mana or stamina. Seeing as it only cost one silver I decided to buy it.
Nothing else in the store caught my eye so I returned back to the outfit from earlier and decided I'll take it. There was a counter near the shop opening with a slot that I assume was where I pay. Taking the outfit and the book to the counter, I took out my remaining silver. Still wondering if I was right I slowly put one silver into the slot. For some reason, I felt like it was a vending machine. After waiting for a few moments nothing happened. Well since I've already put in one silver might as well do the other 30. Putting them in one at a time took some time, once I put the last silver in I heard a sudden bell sound. I almost jumped out of my skin! Quickly moving my head back and forth, I find nothing out of place with the store. Thinking that the bell was a purchase confirmation I head towards the door and safely past through it. Seeing as nothing happened I bolt from the alley and store my new items in my inventory. Looking back I could've sworn that the armor outside the building had been on the left side of the door when I went in, now it was on the right. Now if this was earth I wouldn't believe in ghost but this world isn't earth. Seeing something like this spooked me to no end, right now I only want to go back to Kestrels' home where I at least know she isn't gonna deliberately try to kill me. I quickly run off to the main street into the direction of Kestrels' home. Leaving the spooky dark alley store behind. I could have sworn I heard giggling behind me and this only makes me wish that I was born with an extra pair of legs.
By the time I made it back, I was sure that it wasn't near noon yet so I just went back to the room Kestrel gave me. Making sure not to touch anything or wander around her house I quickly shut the door. Feeling a bit safer now I took out the outfit and the book I got. I remember that when the first fusion of chakra happens all clothes on the body will be damaged so I won't change just yet. Since I have some time I'll work on this new book. Reading through it, the concept is simple using mana or stamina to push elemental mana or stamina out of the pores of the body to create a cloak of the element. This can be used for both offense and defense depending on how much Mana/stamina you put into it. The process, however, was complicated. You needed to be able to endure the pain of pushing the element in and out of the body until it becomes second nature. The first thing that comes to mind is naruto's chakra cloak. Instantly I want this skill. Since I have a couple of hours I want to get this to minor level.
Since the wood element flows through my muscles, I'll start with it first. Circulating my stamina following the direction in the book, I complete a full circle. I do this a few times to remember the route then I start the next step. While following the route I start to speed it up once it reaches the required speed I abruptly pull my stamina in the opposite direction causing it tries to explode outwards instantly I feel pain. It was nowhere near as bad as yesterday but still painful. Under my skin I can see a brown glow slowly pushing it's way out of my body, after a short moment it faded.
Next, I do the same with my mana, following a similar path as the first though a bit different since it flows through my veins. Once it gets to the same speed as before I pull. Just as before I see a blue color appear under my skin before fading away. Since it can't compare to yesterday I keep going only stopping to nibble on the jerky I have. After about an hour of this, I finally get it to come outside of my body although the pain increases a little here, I keep pushing and finally.

As soon as I got the skill all I had to do was activate it with mana or stamina and it will start on its own. I could do a full-body cloak or I can focus it on any part of my body. I tried creating a tail like from Naruto, but other then a slight hump it didn't work out. Maybe because I don't have enough energy. I can do slight claws on my hand but when I try to cut something I feel my energy draining. It seems like it will cost energy to attack something.
After familiarizing myself with the cloak for a bit, I heard someone open the sliding door. Poking my head out I see Kestrel coming inside.
"Did you even go out today?" Seeing me still wearing the lab coat, she couldn't help but ask.
"I did. I got some good stuff too. I didn't change because when we start my clothes will get damaged any way so I'll just keep this on for now." I said with a smile
She just shrugged her shoulders. "It's about time anyway, come on I got a room in the back we can use." Following behind her we head to the door I saw her go into last night. When we walked through the door I was almost expecting to see things from the twilight zone, surprisingly it was a kitchen. A normal kitchen, paying it no mind we continue through the kitchen to a door that leads downstairs, this just screamed underground laboratory. At the bottom of the stairs there was a long hallway, I mean very long. Along the walls were many doors with numbers on them, it may have been me but I swear I could hear sounds coming from some of these doors but I don't dare to ask. Afraid of being left behind I stick closely to Kestrel.
After walking for about 5 minutes we come to the end of the hall. Which turns into an open area, there's a couch facing a window on the wall. Through this window I see a small white room, turning to Kestrel I watch her open the door to this room and turn to face me. "Go in." As simple as that. No words of encouragement, not even a friendly smile. Knowing that I won't get anything out of her I simply head to the room, when I walked past her, she handed me a package she pulled from her inventory. "These are extra strength energy potions, there's 3 drink them all before you start." She said with a nod and pushed me the rest of the way into the room closing the door behind me. Inside the room, I look around, yup nothing but a fully white room with a window. Through the window I see Kestrel pull out her notebook and give me a thumbs up. Running the chakra creation method through my head a few more times, I feel like I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Sitting in the middle of the room I chugging the potions with determination, I'm ready to begin.
