章節 30: Chapter 29

"Your Highness, Dyrroth and his abyssal demons had passed through the first wall of defense," Gatotkaca reports to Princess Silvanna.

With clenched jaw, the princess looks beyond the horizon where the setting sun can no longer be seen. The dark clouds and thunders have taken over the once blue skies. She shifts her gaze at the Lightborn squad and could not help but clench her fists for she could see them struggling. The princess keeps her lance behind her back, turns on her heels and gets on her horse.

"Gatotkaca, take over for a while. I shall come back as soon as I can," she commands before pulling the reins of her white horse and goes back towards the castle.

The situation is not on their favor and she has to do something that would turn the tables around. As her horse gallops, she could hear the cries of her army who still stand at the frontlines and fight the invaders who dare step on their territory.

She could not afford to lose too many men.

On the battlefield, Tigreal and his team are trying to hold off the demons so they could not go further in the empire walls. With his huge shield, he uses it to push the demons away as he drags his metal sword against the ground, leaving scratches behind. With a loud yell, he lifts his shield, sending demons in midair, and swings his weapon across. It may have just cut through a few numbers of enemies yet the powerful wave that came from it whooshes over the surges of demons ahead.

"Hey, not bad," Alucard says. He is in midair with his sword drawn and held by one arm. He smashes the hideous demon that is sneaking behind their leader. Not only did he manage to kill it, it is more like plummeting it like a fly.

"I'll guard your back." He stands behind him and in sync, they both stance to battle yet again. Yet they are a bit distracted upon seeing Granger, Fanny and Harith as they charge towards the enemies.

Fanny is like a human wasp ruling over the air as she fights, yet it looks like a graceful dance of death. She uses her cables conveniently and her sword play is no joke. Whirling around with her blades while her cables shot here and there make it impossible to keep an eye on her.

"Hundred demons!" she suddenly exclaims upon setting foot on the ground. Her dark brownish bangs are dripping with sweat yet somehow, her breathing seems to still be normal.

Tigreal and Alucard suddenly shift their attention on Granger for his gunshots are very much distracting. And as for the tank of the team who witnesses him fight on a real battle, still wonders why Granger holds the house of a violin. He is about to speak to Alucard for he is the mentor of the young death chanter but his question is immediately answered.

As demons try to lunge at him, Granger did a rather amusing back flip and with his violin-shaped weapon, its tip opens up and bullets come out from it. The damage is even greater compared to the gun on his other hand. Witnessing such made Tigreal nod his head in acknowledgement of the unique weapon and his mouth is in o shape, amused of his battle play.

"A hundred and five!" he claims with his gun pointed at another wave of demons. Alucard narrows his sight on him for he could not comprehend what his colleagues are doing with the numbers they are claiming.

"95...96...97..." Harith comes dashing forward while shooting his magic keys at each demon he sees. Yet when he aims at two demons, his keys are shot farther, for the demons vanish in sight, as Granger has successfully shot them with his bullets.

Harith bares his teeth and turns to his heels, then he glares at the death chanter.

"Hey! They were mine! That is cheating!" he yells at him, only to receive a shrug from Granger.

Getting the grasp of the situation, Alucard smirks and decides to join in the fun of their team. He tightens his grip on his sword and swings it forward.

"A competition, eh," he mumbles, leaving Tigreal behind whom he just told to guard his back side.

As the warriors have fun in the battle, the princess of the Moniyan Empire makes her move.

"It is time," she tells herself upon reaching the castle gates and immediately enters, wasting no time. As she struts her way down the secret passage, her mind wanders for she could not help but worry about Zilong and Freya. They are like the gods of war and their absence is a great loss on both their defense and offense against the demons.

"Please, please come back as soon as possible," she mumbles.

Her rash footsteps echo in the small yet spiraling stairs going deeper down the castle. She must make haste before it would be too late. She lights up the torches, giving light on the high-arched hallway with the mixture of reddish and yellowish color. The two giant, golden doors are still as marvelous as ever despite being hidden for centuries.

"The rightful one shall open thee,

With a touch of grace, open up to me,

Light of the Moniyan Empire,

Thou shall continue with burning fire."

As Princess Silvanna chants the spell, a swift, cold wind comes surrounding her before it leads towards the doors and pushes it open. The doors creak as they slowly open up to the princess who immediately gets inside. Just like the old times, the five gems come to her as if greeting her with much delight.

The golden rays they emit seem like a new hope that the princess could hold onto. She holds out her hand and the crystals come gathering above her palms.

"Please, give the empire a new hope," she whispers to them with her eyes closed.

The crystals glow brighter than they did before as they circle around Princess Silvanna. Her once golden and silver armor slowly turn red in color and with upon opening her eyes, she sees herself at the entrance of her castle. Beyond the horizon, she could see a huge demon stepping over the city with its huge feet and as Princess Silvanna narrows her sight at it, she could see a man sitting on top of it.

"Dyrroth," she breathes.

She outstretches her hand and the crystals are dispersed towards the battlefield. Their golden rays blinking in midair, flying through the darkness as if looking for someone.

"What are those?" Dyrroth asks as his eyes settle on the golden crystals that are wandering around. Upon seeing them, Alice smirks for she finally gets to see the crystal for real. They are the ones she is after long before she kidnapped Dyrroth away from the royal family.

She is only using the younger brother of Princess Silvanna to get those crystals that shall grant her more power. The royal bloodline of the Moniyans are the only ones that could control such crystals, Alice knows that fact yet she has hidden it from Dyrroth.

"They are the golden crystals! They will grant you immense power, my lord! We must get them and our victory is very much assured," Alice replies, her nerves becoming more and more excited as the time ticks.

Her excitement is noticed by Dyrroth and somehow, he feels like there is something that Alice has never told him. If ever his gut feeling is true, Alice won't ever be able to escape from him. He shall dispose of her himself for betrayal is something he despises the most.

Yet believing the words of the demoness who raised him, Dyrroth stands from his throne and instead of watching the war unfold before him, he decides to join in and have a bit of fun. His eyes settle on the glimmering crystals and a smirk slowly crept on the edge of his lips. He jumps off from the giant demon he is riding on and lands on the ground.

With Alice behind him, he says, "If you get those crystals before I do, you can use them for yourself."

He is setting a trap to test how Alice is loyal to him and if she bites on his bait, then her fate shall end on his own hands. And such tempting challenge raises the interest of Alice so in response, she states, "Very well, my lord."

And with her creepy giggles, Alice flies ahead and leaves Dyrroth behind.

Princess Silvanna holds her spear on one hand before charging back to the front lines of the battlefield. Her focus is set on Dyrroth for he is her responsibility. She won't stop, she won't stop until she brings him back from the abyss for he is the prince of light, not the prince of demons. Upon hearing the laughter of Alice, the princess scans the skies to spot where she is.

She clicks her tongue as her forehead creased in annoyance.

"Touch the crystals and you shall be purified," she mumbles to herself as her horse gallops while she swings her spear, killing the demons coming her way.

"200!" Harith yells in excitement as he dashes towards his right, then to the left. He turns towards the other members of the Lightborn squad, feeling overjoyed at his number of kills.

Yet whilst he celebrates his victory, a man with dark hair and his right eye being covered by his quite long bangs, appears behind him. He is holding a lance glowing greenish blue and is emitting dark smoke.

Upon seeing him, everyone recognizes who he is. Fanny did not hesitate. She activates her cables and with haste, she charges towards Harith who is still unaware of the presence of death itself behind him. She must save him at all cost for he is their precious youngest brother in the team. Losing him would be a huge blow of grief.

"Harith!" Tigreal yells, his voice resounding as it reaches Harith's ears. Together with Alucard, they charge forward in a hurry.

Granger, who could attack even with the given distance, focuses on Leomord. He has to make his shot, it will be all or nothing.

Harith suddenly feels the sudden chill running down his spine. It is as if he could feel death coming right at him. And as he turns to see what is behind him, his eyes widen for Leomord is now only a few seconds away from thrusting his deadly lance right at him.

"Harith!" the other members of the Lighborn squad yell in unison.
