章節 26: Chapter 26. Slaughter
I decide to stick to my original planned route because even if it's dangerous and life-threatening it will help me grow stronger for the future. As I head east I found a settlement at the base of the mountains to stop at called Xue Jie ( Dragon's Blood) the residents were actually quite friendly towards me which was strange because there were no fanus here. In most settlements that are friendly towards fanus are either a mix of fanus and humans or purely fanus but there are only humans here plus they have a strange look in their eyes. While I restock my supplies here I found the local tavern and got me a room for the night before I went sleep I got a specialty dish that was apparently unique to the settlement. It was made with a meat that I never had before that had a unique flavor to it when I asked what kind of meat it was the waitress said it was from some local wildlife when asked what it looked like she said that I will see plenty of them tomorrow because there will be a celebration tomorrow for the hunters coming back. I went to sleep with my head feeling oddly hazy even though I haven't had a bit of alcohol, I quickly fell into a dreamless sleep.
( What happen next)
I woke up with my head pounding to the point I feel a battle-ax to the head would feel better than this head-ache, maybe. As I try to move I found me hanging from my arms in chains then a smell I'm familiar with entered my nose and it was blood both fresh and old. I checked my surroundings to find to my horror other fanus hanging from their arms dead with whole chunks of them cleaved off from their legs to their torso, my stomach churned ready to lose its contents. I ignored my nausea and focus trying to figure out what the hell is going on, I try to speak only to find myself gagged and I saw the bloodstains on the walls these were here for years at least from my experience scavenging for the bandit tribe. A sense of dread filled me as I put 2 and 2 together then someone entered from the bloodstained door, it was a tub of lard of a man wearing a red-stained apron he was bald with a black thick mustache to match his black irises, the porty short man spoke excitedly.
The Man: Oh, finally awake are you, good, saves me the time to wake you. I'm sure you have questions all will be explained in due order.
He took out a leather tool kit filled with various sharp implements and explained with a sadistic smile.
The Man: You see we here at Xue Jie love guests especially fanus for the dumb animals they are because they just served themselves on a silver platter for us to enjoy.
The man had a hunger in his eyes and lick his lips examining me like a piece of meat and continued.
The Man: You see in my grandfather's time Xue Jie experienced a terrible shortage of food due to various things at the time people were dying from hunger which is a horrible way to go really.
I try to use my semblance to break free but to no avail the noticing this grinned and explained.
The Man: Oh, we can't have you breaking out so you have been drugged to prevent you from using your aura or semblance. Now, where was I? Oh, yes, now you see with people dying things were desperate very desperate indeed then 1 day a hunter brought in meat and gave everyone who was left there a share of the meat. After eating the meat everyone asked the hunter where he got the meat when all the game-animals were gone and he said that there's plenty of dumb animals just a day north of here.
As the tub of lard told his story with a smile while sharpening his knife with his back turned I focus my magic which thankfully works even with me in a drugged state to which was quickly disappearing as the man told his story.
The Man: After hearing this the people gathered their gear to hunt down the prey to end the hunger and death that has taken their home. The hunter lead them till they ran into another settlement going through the same thing as Xue Jie but there weren't humans there but fanus and only fanus. It didn't take a genius to understand where the meat came from last time there were those that naturally opposed the course of action ahead of them but the hunter remind them of there starving families and those who were already gone.
My drugged state was alleviated I then used my semblance to create a damping field to quietly break free as the fatty continued his story with his back turned.
The Man: With the hunter's reminder of their situation everyone put aside their reservations in order to make sure that no one else died from hunger again. They waited for nightfall then attacked the fanus once everyone in the settlement was dead they butchered the prey to hide the fact the meat came from fanus. As they fed their loved ones they felt that they needed to tell the truth of the matter to them as they explained everyone felt sick from the truth till one of the children said that they didn't eat people but animals, after all, they had funny ears and tails.
I broke free of the chains holding me and after massaging my wrists I made my way to tub of lard as he continued.
The Man: With what the child said everyone came to realize that the current amount of meat wasn't enough to endure the shortage so with this in mind they started to hunt down other settlements full of fanus. After surviving the disaster that plagued Xue Jie everyone developed a taste for the fanus because after all, they were just animals so it became a tradition to hunt and eat any prey that came near here, so do you understand your situation.
As he finished his sentence I snapped his neck in 1 clean movement and I said with every bit of hate and disgust I felt.
Silva: Yeah, I understand that this place should be wiped off the face of Remnant and it will be soon.
I used my sonar to find my stuff stored in the other room pass the door, once I drew my halberd I made my way to the cannibals to end them starting with the ones that were guarding the settlement. As I killed the guards one by one I made my way to the center of the settlement to see the rest of them celebrating with glee eating freshly cooked meat I already knew where the meat came from and to make things worse even the kids were eating it with great relish. Seeing this I resolved myself to make sure every man, woman, and child died here thus the slaughter started with the person closes to me which was a little boy that looked at me and said food with glee pointing at me. This removed any hesitation I felt from killing the little monsters that probably didn't know any better and with this, the bloodbath truly started.
