章節 40: 40 Conquering the World Part Two, Hellgates and Duking It Out with the DK (Apocalypse)

I looked over the monsters. My subordinates had been thoughtful enough to start gathering their conquered monsters in one place. We were still in the starter zone, so it was mostly level 0s with a few level 1s and 2s as boss monsters. Demons, of course start out at level 1 due to the nature of their spawning.

I decided not to bother sorting the monsters. The few level 2s could figure out how to get to the second island on their own, or become proper denizens of the first island. The question was, do I manually transfer every single one over, or make an item that lets them do it themselves? Obviously, I should make an item. I have a world full of demons and monsters to convert, after all!

I made up the item in the VMD. Shaped like pocket watch, it had two wheels on its face each containing numbers 0 to 9. It had the spatial coordinates for each island, with the first wheel picking which set of ten, and the second which of the ten. Upon pressing the green button below the numbers, it would connect a space five feet before the top of the device with the space above the designated island, making a portal a hundred feet by a hundred feet. Outlining the portal would be a red warning glow and crackling electricity. Pushing the red button on top of the dials would close the portal.

Saving as SVHellgate, I commanded System to create a thousand copies, keeping two for myself and the others in four sacks. We could pick up more sacks to distribute the Hellgates on the way. I triggered the first Hellgate and just tossed the damned monsters through with telekinesis. I watched through my spatial sense as they fell screaming into the volcano, burning up. Oops.

I turned my attention to my newest converts, who were looking at me questioningly. I snorted. "You sissies have had the easy life so far. Time to toughen up, or you'll die again and again and again." I casually tossed the body parts that hadn't made it through and had been sliced off by the portal edge into the portal after the monsters.

I leapt into the air, commanding my cultists to take a sack and move on to their next destination. I almost forgot to close the Hellgate, but remembered to click the red button before I got too far. I smashed into my next demon victim, grabbed its head, and twisted its mind. I was more gentle this time around, so no cleanup necessary!

I handed my second Hellgate to my newest convert, telling it to gather and dump its monsters through, and leapt into the air. I dropped a sack of five hundred Hellgates on its head. Score!

"Create World Map," I commanded System. "Designate mana rich zones and put a level on each monster and demon found. Show projected movements over the next hour." I was wondering what my opposite was doing. Was he forming some sort of army or performing some other tactic that would require us to change our methodology?

I stayed where I was over the next five minutes, commanding my cult. The prospective converts put up resistance, but it was nothing I had to intervene with as of yet. The timer reached zero, and I looked at the World Map. It looked like the Demon King was actually moving personally to end me! At least it wasn't an army, and I could use this opportunity to work out this body and see what it was capable of. All I had to do was keep the Demon King alive until I captured all my targets.

I formed a gravity slide, beat my wings, and used magic to blast fire from my feet, catapulting me forward. My aim was perfect, and I smashed into the Demon King, catapulting both of us into outer space. Calculating quickly, I then made a portal that connected to the backside of the moon behind it, our momentum carrying us through. I cheered internally. I could attack with much more power now that we were far outside the vicinity of anybody fragile.

I focused destructive energy between my hands, making sure to give it a blue white color. "Kamehameha!" I mouthed, sadly unable to shout due to the lack of air. The energy shot out in a teardrop cone, nearly taking off one of my opposite's legs. It did take a nice chunk off the moon, though. Whoops. It looked like I was still too much a newbie in regards to using my magic powers.

The Demon King roared back at me, somehow making sound. Neat trick. Now how did it do that? "INSOLENT FOOL. YOU SEEK TO TAKE MY PLACE! THIS WORLD IS MINE!" Ah, it made space itself vibrate! Wait, what is it accusing me of now?

What the heck? I took a quick delve into its mind, which was quite difficult. An Aspect has natural defenses against any sort of threat of that sort due to their alien nature. I was able to circumvent that by working from an Aspect similar to this one. It turned out the poor DK was convinced that I was here to take its place. It worried at how could there be two Aspects of the same mana type. How cute.

Using the moment to punch the DK in the mental gut, I also punched it in its actual gut, my claws tearing through its stomach and out its back. Complimenting myself on the poetic symmetry, I spun the body around my arm, smiling as the Demon King began to scream. I amplified the effects of the pain, and spent a comfortable ten minutes spinning it until the Demon King was just a whimpering quivering ball.

I flicked my arm up, then drop kicked the DK into the moon. Ignoring the cracks in the moon spiderwebbing out from the impact crater, I smirked down at it. "What a wimp. I was hoping for more of a fight." Fifteen more minutes to go to conquer the world.

It stood up and roared in mindless rage and pain, too far gone to form words or coherent thought. It launched itself at me, an aura of destruction warping the very fabric of space itself surrounding its body, causing it to accelerate to the speed of sound in one second flat.

The DK's extended arm crumpled as it smashed into my abdomen. It howled in pain, clutching its arm to its empty stomach. It might be resilient with figuratively a lot of HP, but its toughness/defense was lousy. This was probably because it was designed to be beaten by a non Ascended Hero. Even with the extra mana boosting it, the world's Law of Demon Kings that it was tied to limited its power. Pitiful.

I hammered the DK back into the moon, its body crumpling like an accordion. It leapt back at me like a nightmarish jack in the box and broke its other arm. I ripped off the arm and slowly ate it with relish. The arm tasted like a gourmet beef hot dog, the relish going perfectly with the flavor.

The Demon King went even more berserk. I suppose seeing yourself being eaten was a step more than most beings are comfortable with. It latched onto my body and gnawed on my face, while its claws raked my back. It actually gave me a decent massage. Quite comfortable.

I pondered on the change eleven minutes could make. The Demon King was so cool in the beginning, with dark steel armor, a black cloak, and a glittering crown. Now the armor was gone, the cloak in rags, and the crown - I plucked it off its head and threw it in my storage space. Its crown was also gone.

I plucked off one of its horns and chewed thoughtfully. This part tasted like mint chocolate chocolate chip cookies. Yum! I ate the other three.

"Times up!" I said to DK. I quickly made its crown a Soul Anchor for it, then scrunched it into a ball and threw it into my mouth. Feeling the world warp as one of its Aspects was removed, I skedaddled to Sea Volcano Hell, Island 100. Spagetti better enjoy the forced world evolution, or I'd have to make some apologies.

This triple body thing is actually making me plan out these chapters more! Yay for weird motivators, I guess?

Though permanently removing the Demon King wasn't on my conscious plan until the last paragraph. You gotta be flexible!
