First Language Influence ---->
* This happens when your first language influences your second language.
First language influence affects four things:
1. Pronunciation
2. Intonation
3. Word Choice
4. Sentence Construction
In Filipino, there are 5 vowel sounds.
*In American English, there are 20 vowel sounds.
**And 12 pure vowel sounds
**8 diphthongs (combination of 2 vowel sounds)
***Examples:
- cap (ae) - (eyah)
- cop (d.j.) - "drop jaw"
- father (d.j.) - "drop jaw"
- cup (schwa) - "uh!"
- issue (schwa) - "uh!-ssue"
- oven (schwa) - "uh!-ven"
***watch series like "Big Bang Theory"
*There are some consonant sounds in English that are not present in Filipino.

-- B-V
-- S-IS
-- Rolling "R"
*Pronounce "Th" with tongue stick - out, air puffing out
**P - upper/lower lips touches
**F - biting lower lips
**B-V
-- V - bite lower lips
**S-IS -- not supposed with "i" before "s".
**Rolling R -- Mexican rolling "r" not supposed
**Intonation

**Word Choice:
As we Filipinos, we loved to be lazy with our words:

-- Traffic ===> heavy traffic in "washroom"

-- Rubber Shoes ===> Sneakers
-- Dine In ===> For Here
-- Take - Out ===> To Go
-- Tucked In ===> "Tucked"
-- Tucked Out ===> "Un-Tucked"
-- Repeat it again once more ===> Can you repeat what you said?
-- Stand Up ===> Standing Up
-- Fall In Line ===> Can you form a line?/Stand in Line
-- Fill Out ===> Documents Completing
-- Fill It Up ===> For Beverages or Coffee
-- Fill In ===> As in "Fill In The Blanks"
-- Most Latest ===> Recent; (do not use "most")

-- Cope Up ===> Revert Back
