章節 40: Opening Up
Wu Hexie looked up at Kazuki. Despite her being a tall woman, Kazuki was still a head taller than her. He was used to being looked up to by women, but seeing this confusing girl do it to him gave him weird sensations.
Wu Hexie then broke the eye contact and looked down at her hands that stopped massaging his left hand as if she was weighing the pros and cons of opening up to him.
"Well?" Kazuki urged.
"Well...uhh. It's complicated. But permission to rant again please?"
Kazuki was puzzled at this red head's mechanical attitude towards him. But as long as they were civil to each other, it was alright. Kazuki nodded.
"Go ahead."
Wu Hexie, withdrew Choi Kazuiki's hand so could fix her green floral dress in order to sit comfortably. Oh if only she could freely wear her comfortable track suits while being here, she would have. Hexie sat like a monk who was about to give her listener a story.
Kazuki followed suit and rested his head on his right hand which is propped up on his knees like a kid willing to hear the monk's story. He held out his left hand which Hexie willingly took.
Kazuki was clearly oblivious of Hexie's ulterior motives against his hand. Hexie didn't want to lose her only chance of admiring an otherworldly, wonderfully crafted hand.
"Well...today, Zhang Mingyu rejected my ballerina friend Minato Kimiko, twice! The first one was when your friend threw the cake to Kimiko-chan! That was very mean! It was a chocolate cake that Kimiko made, she put a lot of effort in learning how to bake it." Hexie gripped Kazuki's hand while her anger was rising. She could feel Kazuki's glare.
"Oh sorry, H-Hubby. Anyway, fast forward. To cheer Kimiko up that night, which was earlier by the way, my friends which consist of Lihua Andrea Wang and Mayumi Song went to Club Lu-- err-- to a club I'm not familiar with, to have drinks, have fun and sing karaoke." Hexie almost bit her tongue when she almost mentioned Club Luna.
'No. He must not know about that place!' Athena Hexie silently prayed that this scary ticking time bomb didn't heard her stutter the club's name.
"Anyways, Kimiko sang a song dedicated to your friend. Ain't that sweet? But then, after Kimiko's slightly dunken performance, Zhang Mingyu came! My friends didn't know how he appeared, but they were really shocked. Was he stalking Kimiko and not the other way around? Hmmm..." Hexie's voice was full of accusation but controlled the pressure on her hand because she didn't want to crush Choi Kazuki's precious ivory-like hands.
"Zhang Mingyu went up to the stage and humiliated Kimiko. He publicly rejected and humiliated my innocent friend! Why is your friend so despicable?"
Hexie turned to look at Choi Kazuki, her eyes full of fire. Kazuki just nodded his head, urging her to go on.
"The reason I was worried was because...I thought Kimiko might have tried to jump from a building while she was talking to me on the phone. She gave so much love to that guy that there was nothing left for herself." Hexie's voice softened and looked at the pond. The Koi fishes could be heard splashing, happily welcoming the rain.
"Among us five, she considered herself as the weakest. She gets easily hurt, she easily cries. Heck, she even cry for us when we get hurt. I was just afraid she would try to take away her life to end her suffering..." Hexie blinked back her tears.
Athena Hexie Wu just realized how important her role is in her friends' lives. She should be there for them. Then lightning flashed.
Just then Kazuki freed his hands from Hexie's tight grip. Hexie was about to apologize when Kazuki pulled her to his lap and buried his face on Wu Hexie's neck. Thunder roared. The loud boom from the sky shocked her a bit.
Hexie heard three distinct footsteps getting nearer. A muffled squeal was also heard until only two heavy footsteps went back. Kotone Choi probably passed out.
They stayed that way until Hexie realized Choi Kazuki was shaking. She felt his cold hands clutching on her back.
"Boss?" Kazuki heard Hexie's soft whisper.
"Hmm?"
"Are you alright?"
There was a bit of silence.
Hexie's eyes bulged out from their sockets when she heard Kazuki's request.
"Can we stay like this for a while...please?"
