"I'll give it to you straight. A World Ender has descended. "
The crowd was silenced.
The mere mention of the World Enders alone makes me shiver. Hearing that one of them has arrived made my heart stop.
"The area around the monster nest is covered in a magic mist, preventing our surveillance operatives. We currently have ground troops surrounding the nest, but that wouldn't be enough to stop the World Ender. "
The Grand Mage stopped talking.
"The reason for this emergency meeting is to create the task force to defeat the World Ender. "
*click*
Upon the press of a button, a holographic map appeared in the middle of the room.
"Now. Let's us begin planning for the operation. "
"The region is being secured by peacekeepers camp on the four cardinal directions. The reason why monsters have escaped to the city is because the enemy is doing coordinated attacks on all camps. "
"So the monsters are being lead by the World Ender? "
"I think so. Unless there's a highly intelligent monster leading them, but that's unlikely. The monster species found on the mountain region are hyperaggressive. They'll attack anyone that isn't their kin. "
"Could there be a possibility that they're familiars or summoned beings? "
"There's a natural monster nest in that region, so it's safe to assume that the monsters are wild. "
"Then how could they attack the city? Aren't monsters supposed to fiercely guard their nests? "
"The only reason we could think of is that the monster's are fleeing. "
"Fleeing? "
"From the World Ender. Though they indeed guard their nests, even monsters will run away in fear of the World Enders. "
"I see. Then all we have to do is to fight the World Ender? "
"It will be difficult to do so, but it's the only way. "
We had long discussion about the operation.
"The operation will begin tonight, at 8 in the evening. Any more questions? " asked the Grand Mage.
Nobody replied.
"Well then. May we emerge victorious. "
The Grand Mage left the room.
"So what are we going to do now? " I asked the manager.
"I could bring both of you to the warehouse for your equipment. Although I doubt that there will be anything of use to you there. " she replied.
"More supplies wouldn't hurt. Though my equipment is all set. This is the same equipment I use on raids. How about you Amelia? "
Amelia didn't respond. She had a blank look on her face.
"Hey, you feeling alright? " I asked her.
"Oh!! Sorry! What were you saying? " she asked.
"Are your equipment enough for the World Ender? "
"It's not my best equipment, but it's the best equipment produced for the guild. "
"I see. Then let's go to the warehouse. There might be something you need. "
"Alright. "
"Then let's go. I'll ask Frank to pick us up. " the manager told us.
We arrived on the warehouse.
There's a wide assortment of equipment everywhere.
"Tell me if something catches your eye. " Cecil said.
"Understood. " I replied.
"Right. " Albert replied.
I went towards the weapons section.
This rapier was given to me by the guild. It is very special to me, but I doubt it will do well against a World Ender.
"I'll try this one. "
I took a rapier from the rack.
*swish*
It's too light.
It seems sturdy, but it's too light.
I took another rapier to test.
*swoosh*
"This one's too heavy... "
I returned the rapier.
*sigh*
"This is going to be difficult. "
After a spending a while of looking around, I still was unable to find a replacement.
"Hey, you done over there? " Albert asked.
"Yes. I wasn't able to find anything. " I replied.
Albert is carrying a box filled with equipment.
"What are those? " I asked him.
"Oh these? These are explosives. I usually use them when hunting large monsters. " he replied. "I don't know what the World Enders are, but just in case, I'll bring these with me. "
So the Knight Commander uses explosives.
"Are you finished? " asked Cecil.
"I'm good. " Albert replied.
"Not yet. I'll just take a few potions. " I replied.
"Only potions? "
"Yes. "
"Then let's go. The alchemy lab is over here. "
We spent the entire afternoon arming ourselves.
We could never be fully prepared against the greatest threat to humanity, so every measure counts.
"If only I had even a bit of my power, this wouldn't be happening. "
I've already finished the plan for the operation, but I'm still trying to come up with a better one. Every move is important, each step taken must be accounted for.
"Someone's serious for a change. "
"Gah! "
I was surprised. Someone just whispered into my ear.
Looking around, I saw Morgan behind me.
"My, you've gotten rusty. " she said.
"I don't have a sliver of magic left in me. Of course I can't detect a master of disguise. " I told her.
She chuckled.
"They're here. " Morgan told me.
"Who? "
"The adventurers. "
"The adventurers? Then it's time to start the operation. "
I grabbed my notebook.
"I'll be going now. "
I was about to leave the tent when Morgan called me.
"Hey Merlin. "
"Yeah? "
"Don't blame yourself if something happens. "
I chuckled.
"After what happened last tim, I just can't help it. "
We've finally arrived at the operation site.
There's a lot of adventurers present. All of them armed to the teeth.
"Greetings. " the Grand Mage said. "The time has finally come. This battle will be treacherous. Lives will be lost, and yet you remain here. Know this. Even if you fall here, you will not die in vain. The future is in our hands, and we will have it! "
The crowd roared. Raising their weapons, they prepared themselves for what seems to be the last stand.
"Are you ready? " Albert asked.
"Yeah. "
"Though this isn't our world, I still want to protect it. "
"I feel the same. "
Though the world may be different, we are still the same. The humans back in our world, the humans in this world, there's no difference. The fact the this peaceful world might end up like ours pains me.
"I'll do everything I can. "
It's been a few hours since Amelia left.
"Oh! A CE! "
I've been farming the current event in H/GO for the past few hours.
"It's getting late. "
I wonder what they're up to?

There's a weird feeling in my chest. I can't just shake it off.
"I hope they're safe. "
