章節 44: IM THE BEST CATCH HERE

Reality sure hurts like hell, but Mu Lingxi endures so much more than that on her previous life. It was nothing compared to what she had been through before.

When epiphany struck her, she settled her resolved.

"I won't trust that easy the next time. This will be my last, lest my future efforts would go to naught. "

She promised to herself but her face was devoid of any emotion. She turned on her heels, and with a look reminiscent to a soldier marching to her death, she walked away from Mu Ruochen's study room.

Janus walks to her side without saying anything. He chooses to give her time to absorb what just happen, and let her decide what to do next. No matter what, Janus was sure that he will accompany Mu Lingxi anywhere.

They indulge their selves to silence as they walk back to Mu Lingxi's chamber. But before they reached the pathway leading to her room, Mu Lingxi did an abrupt turn. She turns to a corner and continued walking.

The number of servants along the way was getting more and more dense until they reached a dark corridor. Janus was not sure when did Mu Lingxi learn this place. But he swallowed his curiosity and just followed the girl from behind. Quiet as how a docile pet should be.

When they get passed the corridor, a courtyard appeared on their sight. Base from the looks of it, it was not hard to imagine that this place was abandoned for a long time now.

Otherwise, there is no point for this courtyard to look so desolate. It was as if this courtyard has been desserted by the entire clan.

Dilapidated tiles and broken windows were visible here and there. The only ornament decorating the place are cobwebs interlaced to one another.

Seeing the familiar scene, Mu Lingxi stops holding back her tears anymore, as she slumped there on the ground and cried her eyes out.

She was not sure why, but her feet brought her to this place. Her acquired memory showed her that the previous owner of her body used to visit this place. Sit there and relax, then after having her fill she will walk back to her room, without anyone knowing.

Sometimes she will sneak in the cover of the night and will stay there watching the stars. Until dawn broke out and the sun starts to bath the place with its light.

Those were like fragmented memories, she can't recall what exactly was she doing during those times, but who cares???!

"This place is what I needed right now," she said to herself.

Meanwhile, seeing the pitiful appearance of Mu Lingxi, Janus can't help but feel sorry for her.

"MEOW"

[This little lass had endured so much already.]

Janus was unusually quiet as he just sat there and observe Mu Lingxi's back. Her shoulders were shaking and only her soft muffled noise can be heard as she tried to weep in silence.

This loquacious cat knows himself well and he was sure that he was not good at comforting words so he was torn between talking or pretending he was not present for the meantime. But he chose otherwise. What he did is he brush his head and body next to Mu Lingxi. Just like what he used to do before in their parallel world whenever he saw his master being sad.

After that, he put his left paw above Mu Lingxi's left hand. Like a comforting friend would do. His blue bright eyes stared at Mu Lingxi's tear-stained face and said,

"MEOW"

[Little lass, you can cry for as long as you wanted. But after this, you have to be strong. There's more than that awaits for us in the future. But no matter what, rest assured that I will stay by your side. We will always be partners in crime. Okay????? So cheer up. You're not alone.

Even if the whole world betrays you, I will not. Even if everyone shuns you, I will stay by your side. If they go against you I'll fight for you....

So enough of this drama, because it sounds corny...Okay???????
