"Why did you give Star Gems away?" Everly had written on her drawing board to her younger brother. He looked at her, sighed.
"I couldn't let you fight alone."
"What did you do?" Everly asked next, he gave those star gems away before this whole mess started. So fighting alone only makes sense if he saw this coming.
"I gave a star gem to a grieving man; the gem chooses him. And I could not use mine any longer. He….." Eric trailed off and was quiet. "He wasn't to find away to wake up his wife. I didn't think he would go this far."
"Did you give out anymore?" Everly asked, he thought for a moment and then took our an elaborate box, he handed it to her. She felt the box at first and started to open the compartments.
In the box where Eighteen Star Gems, four where missing.
"I only gave out two." Eric said sadly as he pulled out his necklace. "I still have mine." He indicated the place where a star gem is supposed to be.
"….." Everly didn't say anything but she closed the box and was about to hand it over to him. But Eric shook his head. "Keep it, you can protect it better them me" He said slowly walking out of her room. However, he did not explain about the fourth one, where is the fourth star gem.
Some time later after he left Everly sat the box on her desk, Rachel flew towards it and touched the top. The gems seemed to have reacted to her as they all passed through the box.
Rachel felt something when she saw the Gems, so, she thought it would be fine to go along with is feeling. The Gems then disappeared into her ghostly body and then that was it. Making Rachel, both confused and disappointed.
She floated and waved her hand making a ghostly pillow. She laid down in the air as if to fall asleep.
Everly chuckled, she had seen the various changes in expression in Rachel and immediately understood that she was annoyed. She yawned and decided she should take a nap to. Her ghostly doubleganger's habits have been rubbing off on her.
The next day she went to the hospital for a check up on her legs. Everly's stepmother got distracted by the nurse and was in a deep pleasant conversation with them.
She was lightly sleeping on her wheelchair, when she woke up with a start feeling that it had moved. A couple of kids was pushing her chair away, another had taken her draw book and was messing with it.
She panicked when she saw that they where pushing her to the stairs. She looked up to see Rachel sleeping without a care in the world with her pillow.
As expected she ended up being pushed off the stairs, Everly instinctively closed her eyes as she felt gravity pull her down. She felt someone caught her, making her open her eyes and looked at the youth who smiled at her.
He was somewhat familiar, Everly just remembered and quickly looked at the stop of the stairs. A young girl was holding wheelchair with a completely relieved expression.
Everly breathed easier, before something felt suddenly wrong. She just happened to look and she lost her ability to breath. Rachel's expression made her so scared she trembled.
Not able to look any more, Everly looked down. The Two youths about her age brought her back to her wheelchair. She thanked the teenagers and waved them goodbye.
She couldn't help but look back at Rachel's whose face was frozen cold and looking out the window.
