章節 25: #23 Conference Room
Ren was thinking whether to take Spectator or just leave it here, in the end he decided to take it and keep it for now. He even tried to reanimate Zanku's corpse but in the end it became skeleton again like before but now that he mastered Death energy he could feel that skeleton was probably even stronger than previous Zanku. He tried to give it Spectator but it couldn't use it.
'I guess my expectations were too high.' Ren sighed but decided not to dwell on it any longer. He destroyed skeleton and went outside of Capital for training. On the way outside there was one thing that bothered him.
"Shadow, do you know if there is something beyond Master level control over Death energy?" Ren asked
"...I am not sure, why?" Shadow thought for while before answering.
"I feel like with level I am at right now, it is impossible to truly revive person. With my level right now I might be able to learn how to reanimate corpse with flesh and blood who will be able to listen to advanced commands but I want more. I want to be able to totally revive person with their memories, feelings intact while they will be able to develop further, I want to become someone who is able to take lives from hell back to living world." Ren explained what he was aiming for.
"But that would practically make you..." Before Hawke could finish his sentence he was interrupted
"Closest thing to god" Shell finished Hawke's sentence.
Shadow who heard Ren's ambition became really excited because if Ren was able to realize this ambition of his, he would practically become his hand which would take those lives from hell. This kind of feat was impossible in this world but Ren was very special and Shadow trusted him to turn impossible into possible.
'Well that is still long way from current me. I might be able to start absorbing another energy since I have already mastered 1, now only question that remains is what energy? Fire is most likely just mass destruction so I don't really need it. Earth is probably about defense and strengthening body, I could use that but I dodge most of attacks instead of taking them head on. Holy energy.... pass I might even be afraid that it would change my personality with some righteous shit. So only remaining is Life energy which will probably expand my lifespan.' Ren was thinking what kind of energy to train but in the end he decided to go for Life energy since he wanted to see what will happen if he combines Death and Life energy.
He sat down and decided to absorb life energy for half night and another he will practice his combination with Shadow.
Dawn came quickly and Ren canceled his combination with Shadow, he was getting better and better at combination and now he can maintain it for longer time. Combination also had it's ups and downs although it would boost his Death energy based techniques, it would also weaken other energy's techniques. Also now with his mastered Death energy he could finally make it leave his body and create something like Wind blade without practicing it for numerous days. Although it has no abilities like Wind blade has, it can even "kill" things and make them turn into nothingness, of course it also depends on material of mentioned thing.
He had to go to Esdeath's room in the afternoon so he used remaining time to rest and absorb Life energy. From last night he could feel that absorb Life energy is extremely slow and he couldn't reach even half of Novice level yet, but he could feel more alive, maybe even his lifespan expanded by little amount already.
Sun was already up high so Ren got up and went to Capital for his meeting with Esdeath. When he was walking down the streets he kept thinking: "Now that I think about it there doesn't seem to be so many executions like in anime plus they aren't even that cruel, maybe just some of them. Why is that, I kinda get how canon get changed but this shouldn't get changed because of me...' Ren was thinking and before he even noticed he arrived near Esdeath's room but soon enough was stopped by guard.
"Wait, who are you?!" Guard asked
"Ryu" Ren said
"Ah, mister Ryu! I am sorry for stopping you I didn't recognize you. General Esdeath wanted me to relay to mister Ryu that she will be in conference room."
"Ok, where is it?" Ren asked patiently after seeing how guard was polite.
After getting directions from guard he was able to find conference room and opened doors and entered. After looking around with his ice cold eyes he could see 6 people sitting around table but he didn't see Esdeath.
When others saw how door got opened they immediately looked toward person who came in.
"Ren? What are you doing here?" Kurome was quite surprised to see Ren here.
Ren just nodded as greeting and observed that everyone was tense and had their hands near their weapons.
'So it is test huh? haha' Ren thought while forming cold smile.
"Who are you? We were told that only 6 of us will be here!" Seryu said aloud
Ren frowned and said: "You are too noisy woman, I am Ryu and my task is to probably teach 6 of you a lesson."
Ren also noticed that Seryu's arms weren't metallic ones.
'She probably didn't have fight with Sheele and Mine. That means that Night Raid had laid low this entire time.'
After everyone heard name Ryu they stood up and prepared to attack. First to attack was Wave with his black short sword.
'He doesn't even bother to activate his Teigu...what a disappointment' Ren thought.
When Wave's attack neared his shoulder he simply dodged and kick him into stomach which caused him to crash into wall. When everyone saw this they turned serious. They all attack him together except Kurome who still hesitated a bit, although she knew Ren only 1 day she was feeling comfortable around him and thought that they could easily become friends.
When Ren saw how they attacked him only with fists without any weapons or killing intent he sighed. 'I guess this really is just a test, even in Wave's attack I couldn't feel any killing intent...so I won't be cruel and just give them little lesson.' Ren thought.
Ren saw how 4 of them neared him but he couldn't help to notice Kurome who was hesitating in back. So he decided to use Flash step and appeared instantly behind her.
"You know, if you hesitate Kurome, you might actually die" Ren said while releasing bit of his killing intent.
When everyone saw how Ren disappeared they were shocked but Kurome who heard Ren's voice behind her with his killing intent shivered and immediately draw her katana and slashed behind her but her attack slashed just a wind nothing more.
'Why did I hesitate so much?!" Kurome thought while sweating
"Good... now lets have some fun" Ren said while having kind smile on his face which scared everyone. The hell began.
After some minutes everyone was already kneeling except Kurome who was still able to stand while leaning on her katana. Ren went near her and when he arrived Kurome managed to give her last attack which was almost devoid of any strength. Ren caught her hand which was wielding katana.
"I know that all of you didn't go all out and that was also why I didn't go all out or kill anyone, but if you ever anger me..." Ren who was still holding Kurome's hand combined with Shadow and released enormous amount of killing intent. Everyone was surprised how his appearance changed but they truly felt fear this time when they felt his killing intent, only one who didn't feel fear was Kurome who felt very weird. She felt like she was sister and Ren was her big brother who would protect her, she felt exactly same as when she was with her sister. She couldn't help but hug Ren while looking at his emotionless black eyes.
'HAHAHA good killing intent Ren' Shell couldn't miss her teasing.
'What the fuck?!' Ren thought but his thoughts were interrupted by door opening sound and Kurome also regained her sense and let Ren go.
------Before Ren's arrival------
"Tell them to immediately attack if person named Ryu comes, but they are not to go all out. Just tell them that it is their first training, also when that guy comes here tell him to go to conference room" Esdeath instructed guard near her room.
"Yes general" Guard went to relay instructions and came back to guard room.
When Ren arrived in the room Esdeath was near to listen what happens there. After a while she could hear someone crashing into wall and then followed few minutes of clashing and then she heard groans of pain but before she could decide whether to go there or not she felt enormous amount of killing intent and immediately opened door and stormed in.
What she saw totally surprised her, all of her new subordinates were kneeling groaning in pain but that wasn't what she was focused on. She saw one of her subordinate hugging guy in black robe, black crown on his head, black hair with long ponytail at back. She saw only his back but due to sound of door she saw how Kurome let him go and he could finally turn around. She saw his emotionless black eyes and was even more shocked, not because of his eyes but because of his appearance.
"Ren?!" Esdeath cried out, she was able to recognize him even with his changed appearance.
"You are late for party..." Ren said while grinning and others could only groan at ground.
