50% Dungeon Isolation / Chapter 19: Chapter Nineteen: Otherworlders

章節 19: Chapter Nineteen: Otherworlders

The carriage leisurely passes by the scenery, going at a slow pace. Around the carriage, the knights riding on their horses going at the same pace as the carriage. Inside, the princess and Roland had been conversing; about what happened but more importantly, the girl. It has been a while since they had left the vicinity of the dungeon, and still no sign or sight of her. That fact alone reinforces the thought of her being unable to leave the dungeon; isolated and caged. Within the dungeon, other than the two oddly colored goblins, there were literally no other monsters. Though strange, it is strange but the has been similar dungeons. Only, the dungeons' core monsters were unique in nature. Their appearance adopts the characteristics of humans, looking and acting like a real human. Some would consider them being another offshoot of being a demi-human, while the others consider them monsters donning and using the image of being a human. The best way to describe them would be eccentric for the least offensive description. In the past, there were nine unusual cases and of those nine dungeons only about three of them are left. The other six either became so problematic that many of the countries surrounding them agreed to destroy the dungeon's core or they simply vanished on their own.

One example of those that were destroyed included a strange incubus-like being. It was recorded to have happened roughly around three hundred years ago. The strange being is known to have collected and sampled women of all kinds during his time alive. Disguising a dungeon with helpless slimes, he would kidnap all kinds of unsuspecting women that suited his tastes. The reason why he was so successful was the fact that there were metallic slimes found within on rare occasions. Killing them provided a blessing of sorts that permanently increased one's abilities. Due to his clever schemes, he was never caught until a good three decades later. All those that were kidnapped were all still alive, even among those that first disappeared. Strangely, their appearance had not changed over the passing of time. The only unfortunate thing was that they were a whole different person entirely; any semblance of their former self being non-existent. Using magic, their slates became clean and lived the remainder of their lives in relative peace; not knowing of the horrible things done to them prior before the memory wipe.

"Roland, though hearing your report of the incident is good and all," The princess said. "That's not really what I want to know about."

"Yes, princess."

Though Roland was preparing to tell her about the young girl, he lacked the way of telling the princess about the girl.

"As the others have told you, the young girl possesses the traits similar to that of the royal family."

"With long flowing silver hair, golden eyes and also..." Roland hesitates. "Her skin was the color of copper."

The princess simply nods her head at the revelation. It seems that she had anticipated something along with that notion. However, still seeing the hesitation present in Roland's attitude she became curious.

"What else is there? What is it that makes you hesitate so?"

Roland, seeing how he was read through, breathes out a long sigh. He wanted to hold off on telling her this before he found the correct way to convey his thoughts.

"The princess is steadily growing up." He murmurs and a small smile forms. "It will not be long until she is no longer a child."

"Roland?"

"It is nothing, Princess." Roland shakes his head. "The thing I have trouble telling you is that it relates to the condition for you and your siblings to ascend the throne."

"You mean to say...?"

"Yes, Princess," Roland affirms his suspicions. "She has formed a Regalia."

The princess becomes shocked at the news. She never expected that the news would be so heavy. The one thing that many of her siblings had wanted and a mysterious girl in a dungeon seem to have awakened and formed a Regalia. Ever since the thinning of the royal bloodline, it became much more difficult for them to form a Regalia. Even with the self-preservation act that the fifth king proposed and enacted, it did not change the fact that it is difficult to form a Regalia. The self-preservation includes an extreme measure; the marrying and having children within the same generation for those who has royal blood. They had turned to incest to stop the diminishing bloodline. Though it was for mainly that purpose, it also became a political tool. The Fifth wanted the stop of the spread of the bloodline outside of the royal family. Though now buried within the annals of history, the fifth had murdered and hid all evidence of those who carried their lineage outside of the royal family. The only ones who still knows about it now are select few among the royalties; the princess before Roland is one of those select few.

"Do you think she is one of those who survived the purge the fifth king had ordered?"

"No, Roland I do not think that is the case." The princess shakes her head. "The Fifth absolutely made sure that any and all lineage that connects to the royal heritage was eliminated."

"So, you suspect that she directly inherited from the gods?"

"Maybe. I do not truly know if that is the case but that is the most likely case." The princess' brows furrows. "Ah geez, why does this happen when we're still dealing with those headaches."

"Princess, you have dropped your formalities," Roland tells her. "How are they doing? Those that come from another world?"

"Though I know that it is a suggestion from one of the gods presiding in this world, they are too much of a headache to deal with."

The princess pinches the bridge of her nose in frustration. She is thoroughly fed up with those that were brought on over from another world.

"There are too many of them; some are normal, some are eccentric and the others are extreme in their personalities."

"The ones that were able to adapt quickly are the less troublesome ones, as to the ones that shut themselves in to escape reality are not too much trouble."

The princess leans backward and rests onto the seat behind her. A sigh involuntarily escapes her.

"The truly crazy ones are the ones that I hate the most."

"Well, they seem to be the easiest solution to our problems so we have no choice in the matter."

"I wonder about that."

The princess gives a shrug at Roland's comment. Roland gives a light cough to remind her to mind her manners but all she gives back was a cute response of sticking her tongue out at him. Roland could not help but murmur to himself again.

"Nevermind, it is going to be a long time before she finally matures."

Another sigh escapes from him as the carriage made its way across the dirt road towards the capital.
